Chapter 38 - [The Revenge of the Dilla Dynasty] Chapter 37

Gu You frowned slightly as he listened to Shi Zhu's detailed account of the instructions left to him by the Red-robed bishop and his escape from Wangshen City to Zhanshen City. He went to the window, lifted the white gauze curtain with one finger, and his eyes fell on the street outside.

"What's the matter?" The prison slave put a cloak on Gu You and asked.

Gu You slowly turned around and asked Shi Zhu, "You just said that the Light Knights had already surrounded you, but suddenly it seemed as if they had received some order to disperse?"

The candle nodded firmly, and it was indeed strange that the Light Knight did this.

"And, from the city of the Lord to here, no one from the church has ever made things difficult for you?" Gu You went on to ask.

Lian Wu nodded and said, "Yes. When we arrived, we had three horses belonging to the Light Knight and the Dark Warrior, so we abandoned them a mile away from Zhan Shen City. We thought Zhanshen City must be checking people in and out, but unexpectedly, no one stopped us from entering. Then we changed our horses, and when we were about to go to the Burial Dragon Valley to look for you, we ran into a prison slave. And the few undead warriors who wanted to kill the prison slaves didn't seem to care about us."

"They can't give up hunting us down. That has always been their main task." "The prison slave said.

"Unless," Gu You's face was somewhat gloomy, "unless they want to know something from us. They gave up the pursuit, but that doesn't mean they gave up the surveillance. I think we should be surrounded by their minions."

"Are we under their watch?" The jailer looked down carefully.

Gu You nodded. "Perhaps they also want to know our secrets. Maybe they are following us to uncover everything that belongs to us."

"Then we'll avoid them." "Lian Wu said.

There are so many of us. If we want to avoid them, it should be quite difficult. The remnant, leaning against the wall, stroked Duoduo's head and said, "How about we go in different directions and then meet up in the Burial Dragon Valley?"

"No, if we disperse, we'll be easily broken down one by one by the enemy," said the candle. We don't know the enemy's true intentions yet, but their ultimate goal will not change. If we part ways, we may not be able to avoid the enemy; instead, we might fall into their trap."

There was silence in the room.

Gu You bit his lower lip for a long time before saying, "Shall we not act for the time being? Just stay here to confuse the enemy. Perhaps we can discover their true intentions."

Lian Wu looked at Shi Zhu, Shi Zhu nodded slightly.

The remnant soul sighed and said, "It can only be like this now." We can't see the enemy, but the enemy surrounds us all the time. Hopefully the secret hidden in the Burial Dragon Valley doesn't have an expiration date, or a longer one."

"Shelf life? What?" "Lian Wu asked in puzzlement.

Shi Zhu smiled, patted Lian Wu on the shoulder and said to the remnant soul, "I feel as if I were in the ancient times of the earth."

Lianwu continued to ask, but the soul and the candle laughed together.

 ======================================

The street market in Zhanshen City is much quieter than that in Wangshen City. There are no various cries of vendors and no small shops with a wide variety of goods along the entire street. Even the bargaining sounds coming from the shops seemed rather light. In the early morning, the long street was shrouded in a light mist, as if it were in an illusory world. The sounds of people are more delicate in such an environment.

Gu You, Lian Wu and the prison slave walked through the marketplace.

"It feels good." Lianwu raised his arms and stretched, "I don't like the hustle and bustle of Wangshen City, where people push and shove, and even those who have nothing to do run to the streets to push, and I don't know what they are pushing."

Gu You quipped, "But you have more clients like Wangshen City."

"Customers? What customer?" The prison slave had no idea what Gu You was referring to.

Lianwu hurriedly said to Gu You loudly, "Ha ha, Gu You, I find that you are much more humorous after you come back to life. How are you? Are you recovering well? Is that water comfortable to use in the body?" Saying this, he slapped Gu You on the shoulder, then turned his head and said to the prison slave, "Don't listen to him. His language organization must not have fully recovered. Give him more time and believe he will recover completely."

Gu You slapped Lian Wu hard on the shoulder and said, "Thank you for your concern. I'm recovering very well."

The prison slave laughed as he watched the two of them clapping back and forth.

Lian Wu slapped Gu You on the shoulder again and said, "The environment of this city is so good. It would be more comfortable if that thing were removed." His hand was pointing at the main entrance of the church not far away.

The people passing by, the people buying things, all fell silent at once and looked this way.

Gu Youhui slapped Lianwu, "Can't you speak in a lower voice?"

Lian Wu turned his eyes and raised his voice higher, "Tear down that gate and build a higher, more magnificent one, how elegant that would be, how holy that would be... Ah." I couldn't think of any more adjectives, so I just smiled at the person staring at me beside me. He said, "May God bless you."

Gu You pulled Lian Wu and walked forward quickly. He was afraid that Lianwu might accidentally say something outrageous again.

On the street, outside the main door of the church, there were few believers coming and going. There are no priests outside to preach theism to passers-by, perhaps because few people in the city do not believe in theism. In the church, the grand but somewhat ethereal chimes reverberated through the heart, accompanied by fragmented prayers.

The prisoner stopped and looked at the high door of the church. The symbol of salvation on the stone plaque above the high door came flooding back to his mind. "If there were no mysterious organization behind the church, perhaps the church would be a beautiful place," she said softly.

"The church exists just to cover up that organization, and it has nothing to do with the assassination organization," said Linwu disdainfully. And what they preach is just false divinity, just something to numb people's minds."

The prison slave smiled and did not argue any further. She knew that the dancers and the former Hainos believed in natural harmony, which was in opposition to the apparent constraints of the theism.

Gu You said indifferently, "Prison slave, I'm glad to wake up knowing that you are just like me. Perhaps the time you spent in the church was really happy and left a deep mark on you..."

"Gu You, stop it." The prisoner lowered his head, no longer looking at those familiar things, "the harm God has taught you, I will always get. I will also remember the harm to the Earth monks."

Lian Wu gave Gu You a push and winked at him, "The prison slave is very kind to you."

The prison slave said, "What? I will remember the harm that the cult has done to you."

Lian Wu still wanted to play a joke on Gu You and the prison slave, but suddenly a rapid sound of hooves broke the silence of the city. The three of them followed the sound, and on the street, a black horse broke through the morning mist and galloped towards this side.

Immediately, there was a young man, his purple hair fluttering back and his black robe fluttering.

A few axes pierced through the mist and streaked past the black horse. Suddenly, the black horse let out a wail, its head and front plumping heavily onto the ground, and its hind body nearly flipping over. The man on the horse was thrown off and rolled a long distance on the ground.

Four more black horses emerged from the fog.

Lian Wu took a step forward but was held back by Gu You. Gu You said softly, "Lian Wu, calm down and look first."

The men on horseback were all hidden in black armor, and the axes in their hands were now and then cast a pale glow in the morning light. Such attire was all too familiar to Gu Youlian and the prison slaves. But they have no idea why the Dark Knight is here. Also, who is the man being hunted down by the Dark Knight?

The prison slave was a little nervous and whispered in Gu You's ear, "All along, the Dark warrior has had only one mission."

Gu You nodded, but still did not move. He was a little worried that the Dark Knight might have some conspiracy.

The dark horse drew near, and the man in the black robe got up from the ground, ran a few steps with difficulty, threw himself on the ground, his body trembling slightly. With his hands propping up his upper body, he suddenly bent his elbows and threw his upper body hard to the ground. Judging from his movements, he seemed to want to get up and keep running, but unfortunately, he was unable to do so.

Gu You put on his hood, pulled Lian Wu and the prison slave back to the corner where the Dark Knight couldn't see.

The people on the street had already run away. The small shop, which had just opened its door, slammed it shut again.

"Sir, keep running!" A knight said smugly, playing with an axe casually in his hand.

"The monk?" said Lian Wu. It's someone with you. Hurry up and save him."

Gu You said, "You two stay here and wait for me. I'll go alone."

"Be careful." The prisoner nodded. Though he had already realized that Gu You's mental power was very strong after his rebirth, the words still flowed out of his mind.

"I will." Gu You said and went out.

A dark knight raised his axe and seemed to say to the man on the ground: "Look, I can kill you in one go." After showing off enough, the knight swung his hand down and the axe slipped from his palm and struck the man on the head.

One palm brushed over the man's forehead and grasped the iron handle of the axe. Before the Dark Knight could see clearly, Gu You had already leaped up with the axe in his hand. The blade of the axe creaked in the air and a dark knight fell off his horse, blood gushing from the wound on his neck as he hit the ground.

"No... Don't help me... Hurry up..." The man struggled to say.

Three horses surrounded Gu You in the middle, and six axes hit him on the head at once. Gu threw down the axe in his hand and turned his hands over. The mist beside him suddenly flowed towards him, gathered around his body and merged into a mist shield that surrounded him on all six sides. Gu You spread his hands to the sides, and six axes hit the white shield and bounced away.

The mist dispersed and spread out in all directions. Gu You clenched his hands in the air, and the mist condensed in his hands into two long white swords.

A blade stretched out from the chest of a knight, and blood gushed out from the blade. The knight's body fell down, and Gu You saw Lian Wu leap onto the warhorse.

Lian Wu smiled at Gu You and said, "Do you remember the first time you saw a remnant soul? That day was very much like today." As he spoke, his hand did not stop, and two short swords collided with a dark axe. "That day you said you wanted me to kill the Dark Knight alone, but in the end you attacked a Dark Knight to help me... Look at the moves... Today, I'll give it back to you and we'll even it out."

A long white sword lifted the knight's battle axe, and another pierced the knight's chest. Gu You loosened his clenched hand, and the white sword dispersed, turning into a light mist. Gu You said to Lian Wu, "Give it back to me? Even out? Boring!"

Lian Wu chuckled and kicked the last knight off his horse. Before the knight's body hit the ground, two short swords fell and pierced through his chest. Lian Wu jumped off his horse, clapped his hands and said, "Yes, even. These things I love to be serious about secretly."

Gu You ignored him and went up to the black-robed man, reaching out his hand and trying to pull him up.

The man in the black robe did not speak and suddenly drew his long sword from his waist. The sound of the blade scraping against the scabbard was shrill on the quiet street in the early morning.

"Be careful!" Lianwu shouted to Lianwu.

Gu You instinctively took a step back. The man, using his sword as a cane, propped himself up. His eyes were purple and looked rather strange. The man looked at Lian Wu with a strange look and then at Gu You, looking rather unfriendly.

 Lianwu snorted.

The man said nothing, turned around, leaning on his sword, and walked towards the street.

Seeing the man walk away, Lian Wu said to Gu You, "If I had known, I wouldn't have saved him. Look who this is. We saved him without even saying thank you."

Gu You said softly, "Leave him alone. Let's go back."
