Chapter 9 - Arrival

(Aerilyn's POV)

I stepped outside of the carriage, for countless elven guards to be paying their respects to me.

"Princess Aerilyn has arrived!" The guards roared, cheering me on.

"Aerilyn!"

"Father!"

Father came running down to hug me. It wasactually a rare scene for Father to ever run unless it was an extremely important matter. I guess this was a pretty important matter.

I forgot how beautiful The Kingdom of Elenoir truly was. It brought me back to my younger days. But of course, there were a few more changes with everything being advanced and all. I haven't been here in quite a long time.

"Why didn't you just ask for some of my guards to pick you up they'd be glad for the arrival of their princess?" Father whispered into my ear.

"I just felt if it was better for the experience and that I could handle things on my own." I smiled.

"She's right you know, girls need to be independent every once and a while." A woman scoffed, pulling on Father's ear.

"Auntie Rina!"

"The one and only!"

I went in to hug her.

"Look at you! Your all so grown up. . . And by the heavens, you're still the most gorgeous elf ever."

I blushed at her compliment, thanking her for her kind words towards me.

"Sister."

I turned over to see my brother, who looked me dead in the eye. I wasn't too sure of what was about to happen next.

"Elder Brother." I gave him a slight bow.

"Don't just stand there." He smirked, opening his arms. I quickly rushed in to give him a hug that felt like an eternity. I really did miss them all. I took a step back, and I realised there was a woman I had not seen before beside him.

Brother cleared his throat noticing who I was looking at. "This is my wife Merial."

I smiled, as Merial took a hold of my hand, smiling as well. "It is such an honour to meet you in person. Your brother has spoken so much about you."

"So my brother finally has a wife. . . About time." I smiled at my brother, to which he clicked his tongue. I could see Merial covering her mouth in an attempt to not laugh at my remarks.

"First a wife, now let me guess are you a king now?" I sarcastically said.

"Actually I am King now," Alduin said proudly with his chest and head held up.

I didn't show it on my face, but I was honestly

surprised to hear that. I didn't expect my elder brother to be a king already. And let's just say I didn't think he was ready just quite yet. After all, he did sort of lack the skills to be a strong and powerful king.

I clearly remembered the times that I had dusted him off the floor when it came to sparring.

"Don't give me that look," Alduin added.

I titled my head. "What look?" I asked innocently.

"There you did it again!" He pointed at me. "That look you always give when you look down on me. You think it's but it defiantly isn't. You don't believe I have the capabilities to be a king don't you?"

I shrugged my shoulders, as Alduin sighed in defeat. I looked over at Father, wondering why he passed the crown over to elder brother. I knew Father was old, but he still had a lot of strength and energy to still lead the Kingdom.

He too smiled at me shrugging his shoulders, almost as if he was answering the question that I had in my head.

"It's good to see you as well Virion and Alduin?" Gabriel had just come out of the carriage.

Father raised an eyebrow. "Virion? How long have you known me just call me Father!" Father laughed, putting Gabriel in a headlock.

Gabriel greeted the rest of the family. The last person he greeted was Alduin. And surprisingly Alduin was more expecting of Gabriel even giving him a nod.

"So where's the boy? We've all been dying to meet him!" Rina couldn't keep back her excitement any longer. In fact, I think everyone was itching to see him. Even elder brother couldn't help but have a look of curiosity and excitement, even though he didn't want to show it on his face.

WHOOSH!

Fine landed on my shoulder. Father grinned,

nodding at my bond, and so did the rest of the family.

'How's Liam doing.'

'Tired but it seems as though he had a bad dream.'

'A bad dream? what sort of bad dream?' Concern had riddled me now.

'I'm not entirely sure, but it is something that I can't gain insight to. It's probably nothing. There's nothing to worry about."

I let out a deep sigh, relieved that it wasn't anything too wrong. I entered the carriage to see Liam, sleeping like a peaceful angel curled up. I scooped him up gently and carefully, not wanting to wake him up from his well-deserved rest.

I walked over to my family, and their eyes widened at what they were seeing.

"Your boy is truly handsome!" Rina exclaimed, looking at Liam in my arms. "He has his father's eyes but his mother's true beauty. . . And his hair is that of a mixture of both." Rina continued to praise Liam. I looked over at Gabriel who loved to hear those compliments coming from Rina.

"He's gorgeous... Absolutely gorgeous." Merial said in awe, not taking her eyes off him. "He really is. . ." Alduin even muttered touching his little hand. For the first time in a while, I saw a slight smile creeping on his face. I had a feeling that every single one of them was getting Liam fever, I'd say.

They were all in awe at his sleeping face. Maybe because I was with Liam all the time, I didn't get as big a reaction as they did. But I knew that Liam was a handsome boy and would grow up to be one as well.

"Say Aerilyn... Can I hold my grandson?" Father asked.

He didn't have to ask. I nodded my head, as I passed Liam over to father hands.

He smiled looking down at Liam in his arms. "Has Liam ever seen a girl his age?"

"No. In fact not even a boy his age." I said crestfallen. I knew that was one thing I had failed as a mother in doing. We live in a secluded place where nothing ever really happened. Both me and Gabriel were happy to live there. But when we had Liam, we had come to this realisation that maybe living in a secluded place would not be good.

We weren't close to civilisation, meaning that Liam did not communicate with anyone his age. The only person he had known for his entire life was me and Gabriel. Not only did I teach him Mana theory, but I also taught him mannerisms and conversation to my surprise he had mastered it pretty well.

But having to speak to someone is a lot harder, than just learning it. So when we arrived here, I was a bit worried that Liam would feel a bit lost in such a big kingdom. He had never been to places like this before, so now I feel unsure about how Liam would deal with or react to so many different types of people.

I guess only time can tell.

"I see. . . You might have to be careful with Liam, and Aerliyn. He's going to steal all the hearts of girls his age." Father laughed loudly.

That was also another problem.

Girls.

I wasn't so oblivious to not realise that girls would be fawning over Liam here. I knew that eventually that Liam would be charmed by a girl, and as a mother, I knew it was my job to support him in whoever he chose of course. As long as he didn't choose badly, I was completely fine with it. I knew Gabriel would be

very unreliable for the topics of girls. Gabriel would cause more harm than good.

But I did hope that Gabriel's charisma andhumour would be inherited by Liam. Even if Gabriel was extremely childish and silly every once in and while.

But I wouldn't mind that all too much, for I was more soft-spoken and less talkative than most.

"I think it's time we take them to their rooms

Father," Alduin said.

"To the rooms!" Father shouted, leading the way.

(TIMESKIP)

I'll admit, I was really impressed with the palace. It was a whole upgrade from last time. The rooms spoke riches and the palace was, even more, larger than last time. It was a sight to see.

I stared at the night sky, relaxing myself, and

immersing myself in the beauty of the sky.

"You know if you stare too long you might hurt your eyes Aerilyn." Father walked over to me leaning over the railing just like I did.

"How's Liam doing?" Father asked.

"You've barely met him and your this worried about him?" I let out a giggle, to which he did the same.

"Of course I am. . . After all, he is my grandson. It's my role as a grandfather to care for and protect your loved ones. Just like I did with you and your brother when you were younger."

"Thanks, Dad." I rested my head on fathers shoulder as he watched the stars ever so brightly.

"So what made Liam so tired today that he couldn't spend time with his dear old grandpa."

"Sparring."

"Sparring with Gabriel I see. I've heard his become a Silver Core which is truly a hard feat. Only the best can reach that level like my fierce but gentle daughter." Father praised me. I couldn't help but let out a faint smile not because of the praise, but about what Liam had achieved.

"Me and Gabriel aren't the only ones that have improved, Liam has as well."

"Ah yes, I heard from you that Liam had awakened at just the age of 2 that's unheard of. He truly is a prodigy... What's so funny?"

I couldn't help but giggle, if he thought that was impressive, he didn't know half of it.

"I don't want to scare you Father but he's also light red."

At first, Father didn't take in the information

probably but when he let it sink in, he had just come to a realisation.

"L-Light red?"

I nodded.

"At age 4?"

The look on Father's face, felt as though he was going to faint if he heard any more of his feats.

"That's unbelievable... If you tell me any more, I might just faint." He took a sip from his favourite drink that he would always use to make for me and my brother. It did taste delicious.

"He's also a deviant that uses lightning and his both a conjurer and augmenter."

"WHAT!" He spat out his drink. It was as if he had, the most craziest thing in all his years of living. Probably because it was.

"How is that even possible, all at the age of 4! 4! You know how crazy that sounds, 4."

"I know how crazy it sounds."

"Crazy? Beyond crazy? He's not a prodigy. . . He's way past that." Father placed his hand on his chin, rubbing it.

"I'm going to make Liam my disciple!" He said confidently.

Disciple... Disciple? No way. This was also beyond crazy. This was also unheard of. Father had nevermade anyone his disciple before, not even me or Gabriel when he was here.

And he was going to make Liam his disciple. Well, I'm glad that if Father's first disciple wasn't me it would at least be Liam.

"I need to test Liam's skills for myself. After all, if what you said was all true, I believe he'll be best destined for great things in life. And I want him to fulfil his potential. . . After all, like I said that is a grandfather's duty." He smiled brightly at me.

I couldn't help but think, what a great. . .

Arrival.
