Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

James opened his eyes, his gaze falling upon his beautiful wife. It had been thirteen years of their marriage and fifteen years since they first met. He, a captain in Delta Force, and she, a researcher in theoretical physics involved in a secret government project concerning higher dimensions. She had been kidnapped with five other researchers by a rival country's paid proxy.

They fell in love on the two weeks long rescue mission. Time truly flew so fast.

Vrrrrr! Vrrrr!. His phone vibrated.

"Good morning, sir." A respectful voice came from the phone. "We're outside your house."

"Wait for five," James replied. "I'll be there."

He kissed his wife. "See you soon."

Then, he walked upstairs to see his son. Hadrian was sleeping, hugging a dragon-shaped pillow. James gently kissed his forehead. "You are a lion's cub, my son. I will see to it that you become a lion, as strong as me and as smart as your mom."

"Sir! Sir!" a person ran to the base commander, breathlessly announcing, "Siirrr… Lieutenant Colonel Lionheart will land in two minutes!"

There was a silence for two seconds. After that, the commander and his team stepped out to receive them.

The Black Hawk's door opened, and everyone on base stood at attention to salute. Walking in front was the living legend, James Lionheart White, with his 1st SFOD-D team. One could feel the difference in the air itself. To any outsider, they would see a well-built man, confidence simply oozing from him.

But all those standing on this base knew the legend of this man. They had heard many stories whispered by their seniors. They knew what the presence of this man signified.

They walked into the conference hall where fifteen other officers were waiting. They stood and saluted. James strode forward, slapping a file onto the desk.

"Gentlemen," James began, "This is the country that we will secretly take over…"
