Chapter 9 - Atlanta Survivor Camp

Last time on TWDTWSIS

Rick sighs and quietly says, "Yeah, well, I'm back now."

Mason nods and reclines in the seat, setting a magic alarm for a 20-minute nap before he has to deal with more people again. Rick continued driving while thinking about his family, his hands gripping the steering wheel tighter as he focuses on the road and it is a long silent 20 minutes, filled with nothing but their breathing and his occasional tapping on the wheel, before Mason groans and wakes up as his alarm goes of on his wand, buzzing and shaking in his sleeve and he turns it off as he starts stretching and popping joints and focusing on the road for the last two minutes, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as they pull into the camp.

Mason ignores everything else and walks to an uninhabited part of the camp, and he transfigures some debris into a tent before expanding it on the inside and making it permanent, before making a bed and levitating it inside. He then turns, summons Merle, and wakes him up before banishing him away from him and restraining him in ropes with magic, and leaving him to the others.

Crawling into the tent before standing up inside the massive interior while pulling out the book on runes he casts a bunch of comfort spells around the tent before proceeding to flop on the bed and begin reading the book, quickly getting lost in the pages as ideas fly through his head, magic Rune Tattoos, magic cars and weapons, cars that no longer need gas, like Arthur Weasley's ford Anglia.

While Mason is in his tent, everyone else is dealing with Merle, and Rick is rejoining his family.

Merle is thrashing against his restraints and yelling, "HEY, ARE ONE OF YOU ASSHOLES GOING TO SET ME FREE?"

"Not right now, Merle, you're just going to have to wait for him to get back, and then he can handle you," Glenn says, exasperated.

"OhFUCKyou, CHINK" Merle replies.

Glenn just shakes his head and walks off to help Dale with something. Rick is gathering Lori and Carl into a tight hug, while everyone else is bustling around and unpacking the bags from the cars.

*GASP*

Mason suddenly hears a loud gasp, and his head snaps up to see a blonde girl standing in the entrance of his tent with her jaw slack in awe, and he speaks up softly, "My name is Mason Greaves. May I help you, miss?" She snaps to attention, looking at him now as she closes her mouth with a click and her mouth opens and closes, having so many questions, but he puts his hand up and simply says, "It's magic, no sacrifices necessary, just let me know your reason for the visit, not that I mind too much, mind you."

She nods, blushing a bit in embarrassment, and she says, "I'm Amy. It's nice to meet you, Mason. I heard what you did from my sister and the others, and I wanted to thank you and tell you that dinner is almost ready."

Mason smiles at her warmly before standing and cleaning them both of the days grime with magic before saying, "Well, its lovely to meet you too Amy, and no need to thank me, but thank you. I appreciate it and thank you for telling me about dinner. Shall we?" he gestures for her to lead the way, following after her as she does.

As they reach the campfire, he gets a notification, but he mentally confirms the sign-in before ignoring it, sitting down, and taking a look around at the people gathered around the fire. He nods at them before casting warming charms on everyone, so the fire doesn't need to be made any bigger, and automating the rest of the cooking and distributing the food with magic. They all gasp, both in awe and nervousness. And Shane says, "Maybe you shouldn't use that stuff in front of everyone."

Mason looks confused and looks at Shane like he's questioning his intelligence and says "i don't think that would be a good idea, the more i use it around them the more comfortable they are with me using it, so i should actually use it more." and he starts to eat as the food is distributed to him by a floating ladle. "So, did anyone do anything interesting today?"

Carl bounces in his seat excitedly and asks Mason with shining eyes, "Mister, mister, are you really a wizard? Can you show us some more magic?" Mason smiles and wiggles his fingers at him, making glowing rainbow sparkles pour out of them at him with a grin. Mason then has the sparkles turn into different magical creatures that fly around him and the other kids slowly for a bit before dissipating.

Mason smiles happily and goes back to eating as the kids ooh and aww at the magic and pretty colors, the adults appreciative of the distraction and once done eating, he nods at everyone, cleans his bowl with a spell, levitating it to the other bowls and utensils before heading back to his tent while pulling out his book on runes and starting to practice carving the symbols on wood that he cut from a tree on the way and transfigured carving tools, quickly getting lost in the repetitive task. as he works he thinks about the uses the types of runes he could put in a rune tattoo, like Uruz, the symbol for vitality, power, strength athleticism, energy and momentum and Ansuz for wisdom, order, Speech, thoughts and knowledge, Thurisaz for strike, force, protection, and lightning, Gebo, for Balance, Exchange, partnership and combining, Laguz for flow, river, and magic and Sowilo for sun, energy, willpower, vitality, power and fire. {AN: this is according to an app I have on my phone; if it's wrong, then oh well, I guess.}

Mason eventually falls asleep while carving and planning, the stuff falling from his hand as he rolls over on the bed.
