Chapter 8 - Blessing

Before he could even begin farming, Ethan had to look for a suitable place to settle. The starting location mattered quite a lot after all.

But before that, Ethan had to bestow a blessing upon Kael.

He had several options available.

However, he found one particular one that'd suit him the most.

[Divine Blessing: The Wolf God's Shadow]

[Effects: Hides the presence and allows the host to become invisible for up to 60 seconds. Detects the nearest enemies within a large radius, revealing them for the duration. Gains +60% movement speed. Deals bonus damage and reduces the target's defense.]

[Duration: 60 seconds]

[Blessing Activation: 2 seconds]

[Cooldown: Six hours]

'Yeah, this one suits him the most.'

Ethan then went on to bestow the blessing upon Kael.

The crest on Kael's chest glowed silver, and Kael felt a surge of power coursing through his veins as the blessing was bestowed upon him.

Kael could tell that something had happened inside him.

Then something flashed inside his head as he uncovered the potential of the blessing he had been bestowed upon. The details of blessing flashed inside his head as if they had been present there from the beginning.

Kael, however, didn't question the content he saw. Neither did he ponder its origin. He had seen the miracle of his God.

Overcome with gratitude and reverence, he bowed his head to thank the divine being who had bestowed such an amazing blessing upon him, "I, Kael, accept you as the sole God and will serve you for eternity."

"What are you doing, Kael?"

Kael heard a familiar voice. Upon hearing the voice, he lifted his head. The majestic figure from before had vanished, and now he found himself before the cave entrance.

The sun was peeking on the far horizon, and the darkness had faded.

Before him, a female wolf-kin with green pupils and flowing silver locks stood. She had a petite frame and possessed a rather striking appearance.

Kael figured that he had returned from the dream-like world. He didn't even doubt the visions he witnessed. He didn't doubt the grace of God.

With a solemn expression, he stood as he walked a few steps forward.

Then he stood before the female wolf-kin with his back facing her. The female wolf-kin felt perplexed. Just a moment ago, he was muttering something with his head against the floor. Now he was acting nonchalant as if everything was fine.

Blinking her beautiful silver lashes, she stared at Kael's wide back.

For some reason, he looked even more sturdier than before.

"Would you believe me if I said I met our God?" Kael spoke, his voice calm and steady.

"You mean the guardian spirit?" Lira asked.

Though it sounded unbelievable, she couldn't bring herself to doubt Kael. He wasn't the type of person who lied.

Kael nodded and spoke with conviction, "We can be saved. We can survive this winter and rebuild our home."

Lira couldn't bring herself to utter a word.

Though she wanted to believe his words, the misfortune from before made her hesitant. The previous winter had been harsh, leading to the death of more than seven tribesmen.

In that winter, she had lost her only family member— her grandmother.

So, even if she wanted to believe his words, she couldn't bring herself to.

Even so, she nodded her head as if she believed him, "Umm…"

Then she revealed a meek smile before continuing, "Then we are setting in the direction of the sun, right?"

Before, the tribesmen believed they'd find a bountiful land full of resources if they followed the path from where the sun rose.

Kael pondered as he stared toward the eastern horizon. Just then, he noticed flickering lights, trailing a path to the south.

"No, we are heading in that direction. Tell all of the tribe members that we are heading in that direction," Kael pointed in the south as he followed the trail of the light particles.

"But, didn't we agree to follow the sun?" Lira couldn't help but question his judgment.

Though she revered Kael, she couldn't help but feel unsettled with this sudden decision. Even if Kael was the leader of the pack, the decision wasn't something he could make on his own.

The others had to agree as well.

"Lira," Kael called out for her. He could tell that she was full of doubt. "Do you trust me?"

Staring into Kael's pupils full of resolve, she couldn't bring herself to disagree. Something about Kael felt different. Even so, this change didn't feel bad, but rather it felt quite assuring.

"Umm…" She nodded her head.

In the chamber, Ethan was observing their conversation on the screen.

"You are fit to be a leader, Kael," Ethan curled his lips.

"There's a deep cliff on the east, and you wouldn't be able to cross it with your abilities right now. So, it's better to head South."

Ethan had used some of his power to scout the land ahead. He knew the tribe was headed East, and since the tribe had come from the west, he knew the tribe couldn't return to the west.

Thus, he used part of his power to scout the area and part of his power to hint at Kael.

"Sigh~ But with this, I don't have miracle points left," Ethan heaved a deep sigh as he looked at an icon that looked like a four-leaf clover.

The number next to the icon was zero.

"I'm trusting you, Kael. You need to raise the faith in the group; else, I won't be able to help you at all."

Now, Ethan had placed his entire trust in Kael. He hoped that from this expedition, Kael would spread his religion, and the faith in him would grow.

For now, Kael was his sole follower. The faith generated from him wasn't enough to even generate one miracle point. Even with Kael's high faith, he still couldn't generate even a single miracle point a day.

Miracle point was basically like a currency to Ethan.

Under Kael's insistence, the pack of wolf-kin started their journey to the South.
