I left the bedroom. Morgan has been sleeping a lot lately, thanks to that damn Scathach. That woman stabbed and healed me more times than I can count.
The more I think about it, the more I shiver. That woman forced me to call her teacher, even whipped me. I thought I had gotten used to it, but she used a primal rune and strengthened the whip.
I have my pride too. With all my strength, I refused. In the end, I sent a dragon made of my reiatsu. If anyone had seen it, they'd compare it to a hydrogen bomb, but the woman came back only slightly wounded and chased me.
Anyway, I finally reached the hall. The guards opened the door, and I saw Leodegrance inside. I sat across from him.
"It's been a while, how are you, Leodegrance?" Guinevere was sitting next to him, fidgeting as if she wanted to escape her father.
"Thanks, Lott. It seems your queenship has developed quite a bit," he said. I ruffled my hair a bit. "You could say that."
Then Guinevere broke free from his grasp and jumped at me. I didn't do much; after all, she's still a kid.
Guinevere looked at my face, then around, and said, "Where's big sis, uncle?"
"Big sis is tired, not feeling well," I said. This little girl had grown fond of Morgan. Last time they visited, Morgan had used a shield to protect them.
She puffed out her cheeks and stopped looking at me. "Liar, big sis is pregnant… I know."
I put my hand on her head. "Oh, how smart you are. First, let me talk to your dad, then I'll take you both around again, okay?"
She let go of me and sat next to her father. Her father lightly tapped her head.
King Leodegrance and I expanded our trade. We had a mutually beneficial trade relationship, so we got along well. There were, of course, some complications, but we couldn't say those to each other's faces. The Saxons are gathering a large army; this time, they're planning to attack Orkney, according to the intelligence provided by the Brotherhood.
Then Leodegrance said his final words: "Normally, I wouldn't bother you with such matters, Lott, but this little girl is troubling me a lot."
"I understand, Leodegrance, it's not a big deal. After all, she calls me uncle, so I have to act accordingly." Guinevere was looking for a place to hide; her father had exposed her. She was thinking, "Traitor dad."
Then we walked through the streets of Orkney. The roads were wider, the buildings renewed. The royal palace was visible even from the edge of Orkney, its grandeur spreading everywhere.
I took them to the same beach I brought them to before. The sun was watching us, the water was crystal blue, and you could see the bottom. Then I signaled to them to step back.
I got into a stance resembling a dragon's head. A yellow aura surrounded me. Suddenly, I extended my hand, and a golden dragon flew into the sky.
Guinevere's jaw nearly dropped, her eyes sparkling. "Uncle, can I ride it?"
King Leodegrance was questioning his life. He hadn't expected to witness something so absurd with his own eyes. He couldn't speak, only swallowed.
Then I pulled the dragon back. It stood in front of us.
I looked at Leodegrance. "Want to ride?" I could hear him saying "hell no" from here. "Just let my daughter ride, that's enough."
Guinevere looked at her father and rolled her eyes. I could see from her face that she was thinking "loser" to him.
Then I got on the dragon and looked at Guinevere. "Aren't you coming, little Guin?" I said. She ran over, and I chuckled, extending my hand to lift her up.
The dragon flew upward with all its strength. All of Orkney could see the dragon. The knights got nervous, but when they squinted, they saw it was the king.
Guinevere was holding my waist. "Uncle, this is so fun!" Then I entertained her a bit more.
She got used to the dragon. We returned to the sea, to where Leodegrance was. Then Guinevere looked at the horizon. "Uncle, when will Britain become better?"
I looked back. The little girl was lost in the distance. I patted her head, her blonde hair scattering. "Silly girl, you're still a kid. Don't think about these things, you'll only tire your heart."
She pinched my waist. Little girls are troublesome. "I'm not little, stupid uncle, hmph!"
Then we went to Leodegrance and said goodbye to them. As I watched them leave, I got lost in thought. Leodegrance was a good man, at least toward his daughter.
I fix my eyes on the setting sun. Life is really troublesome. Why does everything have to be so hard?
I slowly close my eyes.
To my children yet to be born, may this world shine with your light. I, your father, will always protect you.
(I wanted to write a simpler chapter. I hope you understand. Writing battles in every chapter would be silly and exhausting. I plan to make the story quite realistic, but don't complain about parts that don't seem realistic. This is a fanfiction, you get it. We saw Morgan's pregnancy period and Lott's emotional state. Even if the chapter is short, sometimes short and concise things are better than long and meaningless conversations.)
