Morning sunlight spilled through the tall windows of the National Cultivation Government Organization's hall, painting golden streaks across the polished floor.
Shunya shuffled in behind Naomi and Vikoria, yawning wide enough to swallow the world.
"Why are we here so early?" he groaned. "The day has n't even started yet. My body is in protest."
Naomi shot him a glare sharp enough to cut stone. "It is already nine, you should know. Normal people wake up before noon."
"Normal people are n't chosen ones with rare systems," Shunya retorted, puffing his chest. "I require special rest for my brilliance to shine."
Naomi smacked him lightly on the back of the head. "You require a babysitter."
Vikoria stifled a giggle as they reached the front. Jean stood waiting, arms folded, with his usual friendly grin.
"Glad you three could make it," Jean said. "Today's special. You will be taking on your first official assignment."
