Returning to a few minutes ago landing next to Alrin, Alara received Vera's response and her mind immediately shifted to how she could kill the beast. She knew Alrin would be out of commission for a little longer and that she would have no help until then so she decided her best course of action was to stall and deal with its advantage.
Using a great deal of energy Alara spread out all her flames across the area and began expanding them altering the environment itself. Her goal was to burn away the natural ice energy in the area to reduce the beasts ability to regenerate.
Seeing this the ice-crystal tiger let out a roar but it was not an ordinary roar it was infused with the the power of its ice path. Reverberating out the power of the roar was freezing the fire itself causing ice chunks of fire to fall onto the ground.
After the beast froze the flames it did not continue its attack instead it caused a blizzard to erupt around them greatly reducing Alara's visibility. While this beast was not the most cautious by nature after Alrin blew it up it decided to take a less aggressive approach to the hunt.
Inside the blizzard Alara could not see anything even Alrin who was right next to her was barely visible. Luckily she was still able to sense the beasts energy so she summoned her petals to cover Alrin and focused on tracking its energy.
She sensed as the beast slowly circled her but not wanting to be on the defensive summoned more flames to fire at the beast. Yet compared to before the blizzard was weakening them so by the time they reached the beast their power was negligible.
It may not have hurt the beast but it did stop it charging in forcing it to change its approach when it realized that Alara could tell where it was. This time as it circled her it was running and as it ran dozens of ice shards were formed in the air and shot at her.
Alara was forming shields with her petals but it was still a disadvantageous situation when both of their attentions suddenly shifted upwards.
The power of Silvia summoning her inner world caused them to unconsciously look towards the source of such power.
Seeing that it was Silvia's inner world gave Alara an idea. Taking a page out of her book she was going to use the Stellar path to deal with the current situation. If her flames did not have enough power then she would create something that did. Of course going from an ordinary fire path to the a divine path was easier said than done but she had seen Silvia use her path many times in the past and had an understanding of it.
Alara knew that Divine paths used at least 8 of the 9 elements and she also knew that the most important elements to the Stellar path were light and fire the rest were just supporting elements.
While she contemplating this Alrin had finally recovered, "I've recovered."
His recovery speed was truly impressive but not because he possessed incredibly fast regeneration it was more accurate to say his body simply returned to its natural state. This was because his body, soul, Sencia were one if an attack did not destroy all 3 after a bit of time it was simply returned to its original state. If all three were not destroyed the most his recovery could be is slowed depending on the severity such as when he was poisoned which from seconds to minutes. This time most of his body was destroyed so it was on the higher side.
"Edward got hurt and Vera can't switch so were gonna have to deal with this ourselves." Alara quickly told him the situation
"Do you have a plan this is a bad match-up for me?" He said until he reached immortality this was a horrible match-up for him.
"I do but I need some time." She replied.
"Alright I'll buy you as much as you need." He said confident in that.
Alrin took off into the blizzard while Alara cocooned herself with her petals to be able to fully focus.
Dashing through the blizzard Alrin could not sense the beast but his eyes were much betters than Alara's and could see through it. Eventually he got close enough and jumped on the beasts back surprising as it had not sensed him in the slightest.
"Lets see who can heal more." Alrin said as his greatsword appeared in his hands and he swung down destroying much of the beast.
In response the beast responded by shifting forms to that of a serpent and coiling around him. It began trying to squeeze him to death while also freezing him.
Alrin responded by blowing up the both of them again although this time he only used a tenth of the energy just enough to free himself.
Like this the battle between the two had reached a stalemate neither could kill the other as it was simply a war of attrition. Since it could not kill him the beast decided to completely freeze him.
Shifting forms into a bird it flew up and began gathering the surrounding ice energy as a blue sphere was forming in front of it. Only seconds later a beam of pure ice energy was fired at Alrin.
Seeing that Alrin held out his greatsword and blocked it knowing it was something he was not fast enough to avoid. He was infusing his energy into the sword but it and him were still being frozen and with no choice he was trying to use The Radiance but he could not get it to work no matter how hard he tried. At best he would feel the energy surge for a second like a flicker and then stop.
He was slowly being frozen like this until Alara finally exited from her cocoon. She had managed create a star but could not use it with Alrin in the way. Instead seeing the situation Alrin was in she started firing fire bullets at the beast's head. As the beast was being hit it screeched once again freezing the flames. At this point Alrin was half frozen when he shouted at her.
"Go for it I'll be fine!" He shouted at Alara seeing the energy.
Although he said that Alara instead held onto the the star and went to save him. This was risky because if she got hit it could end up going wild.
"Stop being an idiot and trying to sacrifice yourself!" She said going after him.
"I'll be fine!"
"I don't care!"
Alara was more stubborn than him and if she did not want to hurt him she wouldn't. Instead she switched to her lotus petals if the beast was going to continue its attack regardless of the cost then she needed to create a moment to pull Alrin away.
Creating a shield out of the petals she forced it in front of the attack and used that moment to pull Alrin away. While maintaining the energy of the star she used that energy to quickly warm him up as they moved.
"Alara you know I would have been fine."
"I don't care I don't like it." She gave him a stern look.
"Alright I won't mention it again." He gave in.
"I'm gonna destroy the blizzard now." Saying that a small sun was being formed out of the energy in her hands.
Feeling the energy being formed the beast went all in for its attack and dove full speed at them. The beast flew down as fast as it could making no attempt to stop itself from crashing down. In response Alrin swung his sword and sliced it in two but it was fine with that. Using that half that had landed closer to Alara it shifted forms once again to that of a tiger. As it pounced at her Alrin was just barely able to make it in time and used his body to stop that attack.
It was slowly biting through him but instead of letting go Alrin grabbed it back and began squeezing.
"I'm ready!" Alara shouted.
Hearing that Alrin was about to let go and push it off of himself but sensing danger the beast exploded into thousands of shards most of which pierced into Alrin and it used that chance to retreat.
Alara shot the sun in the direction most of shards had exploded to and everything in the area was instantly melting and evaporating destroying the blizzard it had created.
"Run!" Alara said grabbing Alrin's hand she was not sure what would happen but she did not want to stay to find out.
Fortunately the direction she shot the sun was away from the branch because it began to rapidly expand outwards destroying everything in its vicinity.
Eventually it expanded to the size of a large house before exploding into a rain of fire across the land. Everything within a mile had been compltetly destroyed from the heat alone and the rain of fire spread out even further.
"Can you sense its energy?" Alrin asked.
"No but I doubt it's dead it can recover from a piece of itself as long as it has energy." Alara said.
Since that was the case the two went back and began searching for it together since their ways of detection were different.
While searching Alrin decided to ask for help in practicing The Radiance, "Alara, how do you view the element of light?" Watching Alara use her sun had given him an idea but he was not sure.
"Light is life not because it creates it but because it nourishes it. Without light to nourish a world nature would die, then animals, then people. Light is many things but at its very core it is the nourisher of all that is what light is." Alara did not know why he needed to know but gave him her understanding of the element of light. While explaining she had also been attacking the beast but the regeneration was still a problem.
"I see light is what nourishes the flame! That is why I have been missing he said." Hearing that he finally understood what he was missing.
The Radiance used two elements fire and light. Fire was the more important of the two it was allowed one to burn their energy for an explosive power but it had to be maintained somehow and that is what element of light gave it. Without the element of light added into it the cultivator would almost instantly self-destruct but that is why it had light added to it, it was to stabilize it. It controlled the nourishment in this case the energy to prevent it from it all going at once.
He immediately tried to test it an a reddish aura began to appear around him this was the heat being generated from the The Radiance before he stopped using it.
"You figured it out?" Alara asked.
"It will still need work but at least its usable now. If their is something I can do to repay you tell me." Alrin said.
"Hmm I'll keep it a secret for now."
"It must have run lets go check on Vera."
As she said that the dying wails of the mammoth echoed out as the ice-crystal beast suddenly appeared flying in its direction.
The two immediately chased after it.
