Chapter 20 - 20

"Full Counter!"

Explosions, wind blades, quicksand — everything rebounded in reverse.

Kurozuna's final thoughts before death were nothing but confusion and disbelief.

"Damn it."

Mashu was drenched in blood. He watched helplessly as his own jutsu inexplicably reversed and came hurtling back at him. He tried to dodge with all his strength —

But his movement was interrupted by Inoichi's Mind Distraction Jutsu, leaving him wide open.

His own jutsu struck him instead, ripping into his flesh with deep, jagged cuts.

Though Inoichi didn't fully understand what kind of trump card Mitsuki had just played, as a veteran jonin, he knew better than to waste such a golden opportunity.

When the dust settled, the area where Mitsuki had once been pinned down had become a barren crater.

Mitsuki stood tall in the center, Mistcutter in hand, not a single scratch on his body.

Not far away lay Kurozuna — his body charred black, completely lifeless. He had taken the brunt of the explosive tags head-on. He'd been on the brink already, but this time, Kurozuna was truly finished.

=============

Compared to the complex functionality of the Six Eyes, the Full Counter description was shockingly simple:

Full Counter: Reflects all non-physical attacks.

That one skill transformed Mitsuki from a squishy backline caster into a walking tank. Its chakra cost was extremely low, and the effect didn't depend on the strength of the original attack. Even if a Tailed Beast Bomb were to come flying at him right now, Mitsuki could reflect it back like it was nothing. That's the kind of confidence the system gave him.

Meanwhile, Mashu was in deep trouble — bleeding out, injured beyond reason. He still had chakra left, but his body was falling apart. Mitsuki watched as Mashu shifted into a defensive stance. He and Inoichi had just coordinated telepathically for the next phase of their plan.

Mind Distraction Jutsu

That signature Yamanaka jutsu again — an old classic that never got old.

"Whatever trump cards you've got left, I'm done waiting" Mitsuki said flatly. He formed a Rasengan with one hand.

Mashu knew there was no escaping death today. Still, he hoped he could take this brat down with him. So it was the same technique that took out Shaerming. A no-hand-sign jutsu… but why reveal it so openly? The whole point of stealth jutsu is surprise — what was this kid planning?

In the shinobi world, battle was as much about information as strength. Mitsuki could tell from a glance that the guy was planning something shady. If he closed the distance recklessly, he might get ambushed like that other towering sand-nin had.

So instead, he poured even more chakra into the Rasengan. The orb began spinning wildly, buzzing with intense sound, forming sharp, blade-like protrusions around its edges.

Mitsuki wasn't some dainty little genin—he had chakra and guts to spare.

Wind Style: Rasenshuriken

Condensed wind chakra shaped into a massive shuriken flew from Mitsuki's hand like a thrown weapon.

"Wait… he threw it!?"

Even Inoichi's eyes widened in shock. With Mitsuki's exceptional chakra control, he not only threw the Rasenshuriken but could slightly adjust its trajectory midair.

The jutsu, brimming with deadly energy, reached Matthew in a blink. "A genius from Konoha… of course he's broken as hell" Mashu muttered. A high-level Wind Release technique — no hand signs, thrown like a damn kunai? He'd never even heard of such a thing.

The moment it hit, the Rasenshuriken exploded in a storm of destruction, engulfing a ten-meter radius. The screeching sound of chakra slicing through matter echoed like a scream through the battlefield. A hurricane of tiny, razor-sharp wind blades erupted from the core, tearing through everything—dirt, trees, even the air itself bent and twisted under the force.

To be honest, even without Inoichi's interference, Mashu wouldn't have escaped. The Rasenshuriken's sheer speed made that impossible.

Seeing the sheer devastation it left behind, Inoichi wiped cold sweat from his brow.

"Mitsuki… that jutsu was…?"

"It's a custom ninjutsu I developed. Basically an advanced form of that no-sign Rasengan I used earlier."

At this point in the timeline, Minato hadn't even invented the Rasengan yet. But here was Mitsuki, shamelessly registering it as his own original creation.

"Is that so? Truly impressive…" Inoichi was seriously wondering if he should just give Mitsuki the squad leader position already. This technique had to be S-rank at minimum. And still no hand signs? That's just evil.

Even Mitsuki, thick-skinned as he was, blushed at the praise. He made a mental note: Teach the Rasengan line of jutsu to Minato when I get a chance. That's right — Not only had he recreated the Rasenshuriken, but he'd developed multiple variants of the Rasengan. Without them, he would've just been another mid-range caster with elemental jutsu. And that didn't suit him at all.

After a quick chat confirming Mitsuki's chakra reserves were still good, he and Inoichi rushed to support Ruri and Heiji.

The rest of the battle against the last remaining member of the enemy Sand team wasn't worth much narration. Ruri disrupted the enemy's real body, helping Heiji break one of the puppets. The two should've wrapped up the fight quickly. But the puppet master had one major advantage—he kept pulling new puppets from sealing scrolls.

The fight turned into a drawn-out war of attrition.

By the time Inoichu and Mitsuki arrived, the three were still locked in fierce combat. Mitsuki couldn't help but grumble inside:

"We already took out three each. Are these two seriously slacking off or what?"

But to be fair, neither Heiji nor Ruri were at jonin level. Heiji, a Hyuga taijutsu specialist, was at a huge disadvantage against poison-coated puppets. He didn't know medical ninjutsu, so one slip-up could be fatal. As a result, his movements were overly cautious.

Their objective was only to stall, not win outright.

As for Ruri, her genjutsu was completely ineffective — the puppet master avoided eye contact altogether. She'd thrown a few Fire Release techniques, but her chakra reserves were already low.

To sum it up in one line?

They did their best.
