Ivy had expected Hagrid to sympathize with the middle-aged wizard who had been traveling in the carriage with him, but had met his end in the dragon's jaws. However, he was surprised when Hagrid's first concern was the enslaved fire dragon.
So, Ivy decided to shift his focus when telling his legendary story.
"When we fell out of the carriage, the key Figo Professor had was glowing with ancient magic. It was a door key, and it could even open one of the vaults in Gringotts."
"What's a door key?" Harry interrupted Ivy's storytelling.
"A magical object that lets you travel quickly between two places, but it's usually only usable once," Ivy explained briefly, then continued, "In Gringotts' vault, I first encountered ancient magic, and it was there that I realized who my enemy was—Rancor, the rebel goblin."
"He brought many of his goblin followers, and each one was wearing magical equipment made of goblin silver. Fortunately, there were ancient magic guardians in the vault, and with their help, Figo and I managed to return to Hogwarts safely."
"After the Sorting, things got simpler. Completing assignments while saving the world, just like all destined saviors," Ivy shrugged, teasing.
"All saviors?" Ron asked, "You're making it sound too easy, now I kind of want to try it myself!"
"Hahaha," Ivy chuckled, then continued with a pointed comment, "Besides saving the world and attending classes, my favorite thing to do was rescuing magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest."
"Rescuing magical creatures?" Hagrid's eyes widened as he repeated, "From poachers? I chase out poachers from the Forbidden Forest every year!"
"Yes, poachers," Ivy confirmed. "At the time, the laws weren't perfect, and with the wizarding world busy dealing with the rebellious goblins, there weren't enough people to focus on the poachers. This allowed them to form an influential group—the infamous Ashen Serpent Gang."
Ivy saw Hagrid clench his fists, his face filled with anger, and couldn't help but smile inwardly.
"The Ashen Serpent Gang was a ruthless bunch. They used cages to capture magical creatures, collecting their fur and horns, and the special magical tissues with great magical power..."
"Greedy scum! Thugs! They all deserve to go to hell!" Hagrid seemed to recall the tragic fate of the captured magical creatures, spitting curses. "Tell me, Ivy, you must have saved those poor creatures, right?"
"Of course," Ivy nodded. "With the help of a classmate, we tracked down the Ashen Serpent gang in the Forbidden Forest, rescuing abused Hippogriffs, adorable Mooncalves, endangered Thestrals, and even a fire dragon."
"Fire dragons!" Ron shouted excitedly. "How did you do that? They're flying fire-breathing monsters!"
"That's thanks to the Ashen Serpent Gang," Ivy began, recalling the events. "At the time, the gang collaborated with goblins and used goblin silver to control many magical creatures with powerful magic abilities. They built a huge tent somewhere in the Scottish Highlands. Criminals from all over the world would use a door key to get there, where they traded black magic items and smuggled magical creatures that weren't allowed by law. They even operated a magical creature gladiator arena, forcing creatures wearing goblin silver collars to fight each other for the entertainment of the crowd."
Hagrid seemed stunned. This simple-minded, kind-hearted giant had never imagined that humans could be this wicked.
Everyone in the little cabin fell silent, listening intently to Ivy's story. Even the big, seemingly fierce dog Fang, who normally puffed and panted loudly, was now staring at Ivy with rapt attention.
"When we snuck into the Ashen Serpent's tent, there was a duel in the center of the arena. The opponents were a Welsh Green Dragon and a Hungarian Horntail," Ivy continued. "They looked in terrible shape, covered in scars, their wings shredded, with many old injuries turning into grotesque scars on their bodies. They must have been kept in that tent for quite a while."
"Despite being battered and bruised, the two dragons looked incredibly fierce. Flames and the sound of tearing echoed through the air, mixing with the cheers from the wizards watching the show, making the whole scene eerie." Ivy lowered his voice as the flames in the fireplace flickered weakly, casting light and shadows on everyone's faces, adding to the eerie atmosphere in the cabin.
"Those fire dragons were being controlled by goblin silver collars, and the collars were glowing with ominous magic. I knew exactly what it was—ancient magic twisted by Rancor!"
"I used the Disillusionment Charm to sneak into the tent, and I saw many dragon eggs. Then, I realized what the Ashen Serpent Gang was doing—they were stealing dragon eggs to drive the angry mother dragons mad, then ambush and subdue them to turn them into their money-making tools."
"And at the deepest part of the tent, I saw a purple dragon egg. It was from a Hebridean Black Dragon. The dragon's owner was kept there too. It seemed like she had just been captured, and the Ashen Serpent gang hadn't had time to put a collar on her. They only had her bound with iron and chains in the center of the arena."
"An idea suddenly struck me! I would free them and use these angry creatures to take down the Ashen Serpent Gang!"
Ivy heard a quiet round of applause from the others in the room. Hagrid was nervously sipping his tea, but didn't even realize he had spilled some on his beard, because his beetle-black eyes were locked onto Ivy.
"The fire dragon scales are tough and have a strong resistance to magic. Only their eyes and noses are vulnerable. Fortunately, I didn't need to deal with the fire dragons. I just had to set them free. So, I used magic to unlock the bindings of the Hebridean Black Dragon, then before she could explode in anger, I burned a hole in the tent."
"With the roar of the fire dragons and the Ashen Serpent Gang's screams, the whole tent went up in flames, and all the magical creatures trapped inside escaped! The Hebridean Black Dragon was particularly terrifying. I watched her devour one of the Ashen Serpent members and turn the wizards who had been attacking her into charcoal! But when I saw them flying freely in the sky, I knew it was all worth it."
Hearing that all the fire dragons had been rescued, everyone in the cabin exhaled in relief. Hagrid even began sobbing loudly, "Whew... (sniffling loudly) I knew you were a good kid! Ivy! Thank you... Thank you for saving them..."
