London, Diagon Alley, The Leaky Cauldron.
Ivy Doom was listlessly licking a giant ice cream cone. It was a mix of strawberry and raspberry jam flavors, topped with crushed hazelnuts.
Since Ivy's name had mysteriously appeared in the Admissions Book the previous day, he had been allowed to join Hogwarts as a first-year student in the new academic year. However, he originally wanted to stay at Hogwarts, but Dumbledore said, "No pre-school-age child should be allowed to reside at Hogwarts before officially enrolling."
As a result, he was unceremoniously sent to Diagon Alley. Before being taken away by Snape, he had briefly seen the hurried Hagrid, the Keeper of Keys and Grounds. Honestly, it was quite a challenge for someone of Hagrid's size to squeeze through the oak door of the headmaster's office.
And when Hagrid saw the shimmering Slytherin relic cloak on Ivy, he screamed and bumped his head on the door frame, which made a precarious cracking sound. It wasn't immediately clear whether one should be more concerned about Hagrid's head or the poor door frame in the office.
Luckily, Dumbledore just waved his finger lightly, and the wooden door automatically repaired itself. This left Ivy unable to hear what had been discussed inside. However, based on the original story's events, it was likely that Hagrid had been sent to collect Harry Potter for his schooling and to retrieve the Philosopher's Stone stored in Gringotts.
Even though Ivy knew all of this, he couldn't ask Dumbledore to take him along with Hagrid. Missing the opportunity to meet "The Boy Who Lived" left him feeling a bit regretful. After all, he was a savior too, and it would have been nice to exchange experiences with another savior.
Later, Snape took Ivy through Hogwarts' fireplace network to The Leaky Cauldron. Snape had initially planned to arrange a student loan for Ivy, but when Ivy pulled out a handful of Galleons from the Book of Destruction, Snape left without saying another word.
The only thing that remained in the wind was Snape's parting remark: "I trust a former Slytherin fifth-year student won't cry from loneliness, nor cause any trouble that would prevent him from attending the opening feast…"
After a friendly exchange with the innkeeper Tom, Ivy secured a room on the second floor of The Leaky Cauldron as his hideout before the start of school.
As the busy day finally came to an end, Ivy sat in his room at The Leaky Cauldron, inspecting his body and the one magic artifact still in his possession—the Book of Destruction. The wand, made entirely of Goblin Silver, an ancient magic wand, was still with Dumbledore. Even when Ivy left the headmaster's office, Dumbledore hadn't indicated he was planning to return it. Fortunately, Ivy didn't rely too heavily on that Goblin Silver wand. After all, he was a legendary Dark Arts master, a man capable of using chained curses like the Avada Kedavra to defeat his enemies, so it wasn't a big deal.
Over a hundred years ago, Ivy had been a handsome and tall young wizard, a heartthrob for many with his looks alone. But back then, he was preoccupied with protecting magical creatures from the Fire Ash Snake Party, and he didn't have time to deal with matters of the heart. Later, he was sealed in an ancient magic crystal for over a century, which left him even less time for such things.
However, after escaping from the crystal, Ivy's body underwent a remarkable transformation. Not only did he not age, but he even experienced reverse growth.
After measuring himself against the door frame, he sadly realized that he was now less than 1.3 meters tall—he had the physique of a child. This may have been the reason why he was accepted into the Admissions Book in the first place.
Still, as time passed, he believed that he would eventually return to his original height and body shape from a century ago.
If there was any good news, it was that he seemed to have a deeper understanding of the ancient magic power within his body. Not only could he easily use ancient magic to destroy his wand during his magical duel with Dumbledore, but he could also use this power to enhance the Book of Destruction.
As he flipped open the familiar yet strange book, one that he hadn't seen in over a century, Ivy clearly understood: the cheat code of a time-traveling soul had finally activated after being delayed by a hundred years.
The Book of Destruction originally started as the Wizard's Practical Guide, a magic book Ivy had received from Professor Weasley when he enrolled as a transfer student more than a hundred years ago. Initially, it was just a notebook that helped him review magical knowledge at any time.
However, as Ivy's magical abilities grew stronger, the Wizard's Practical Guide gained additional features. First was the map, though it was different from the Marauder's Map, as it didn't show other people's names, only the holder's location. Then there was the storage function. Using the Seamless Extension Spell, Ivy stored various herbs and magical creature materials he collected from the Forbidden Forest, including his own brewed potions, Galleons he looted, and fashionable clothes he gathered from various places.
Perhaps because of his long exposure to ancient magic over the past century, the Wizard's Practical Guide had now evolved into a true magical book—the Book of Destruction.
When Ivy opened its first page, he saw his attribute panel.
