The moment Harris mentioned having information about my parents' accident, something cold settled in the pit of my stomach. I'd been dreading this conversation for weeks.
"What did you find?" I asked, keeping my voice steady despite the anxiety churning inside me.
Harris leaned forward, his expression grim but determined. "We tracked down the officer Eddie bribed. Once we had his name, Gordon Linus's investigation revealed a pattern of corruption that was almost laughable in its obviousness. This guy lives in a luxury gated community, drives high-end imported vehicles, sends his children to elite private schools, and his wife spends money like water. He's terrible at concealing his illicit income – we even discovered he's on a drug dealer's payroll."
I exhaled slowly, processing this information.
