Monica's POV
The weekend passed in a haze of tears and comfort. My friends rallied around me, doing everything possible to lift my spirits and convince me not to leave Morris. But I remained resolute. I couldn't stand between him and his child, and I knew that woman would transform my life into a living nightmare. The situation was simply unbearable.
Monday arrived with painful clarity. As I approached the office building, Eddie intercepted me at the entrance, his face contorted with rage.
"Why are you still showing your face around here, you home-wrecker?" he snarled, blocking my path. When I attempted to sidestep him, his fingers dug into my arm. "Answer me when I'm talking to you, you little tramp."
I yanked my arm free from his grip. "Remove your hand. I'm employed here."
"Not for long! I'll make sure Morris fires you immediately," he threatened, eyes blazing with hatred.
"Be my guest," I replied, turning away.
