Monica's POV
After an emotionally draining weekend, I dragged myself to work Monday morning feeling exhausted. Despite everything, I'd decided to work toward forgiving Morris. My girlfriends, however, insisted he needed to stew in his own regret a bit longer—apparently, a proper lesson was necessary before I welcomed him back.
The office was already buzzing with activity when I arrived. I genuinely enjoyed working here—the atmosphere was relaxed, my colleagues were fantastic, and the work environment was pleasant. Still, a twinge of regret occasionally hit me when I thought about my college degree gathering dust. This wasn't the career path I'd spent years studying for, but I had Austin to provide for now. Self-pity was a luxury I couldn't afford.
As I booted up my computer, a steaming mug of coffee appeared on my desk. I glanced up to find Lily beaming down at me.
