Monica's POV
The mountain of financial documents seemed never-ending. Morris and I had been meticulously combing through the company's bank accounts since morning, yet by dusk, we'd barely scratched the surface. When Morris suggested we pause for sustenance, I gratefully agreed. While he stepped away to take Darren's call, I seized the moment to check on Austin.
"Stop worrying," Natalie chided when I called. "Your son is perfectly fine. We've got our evening all planned—dinner, cartoons, then bed. Focus on your work, but maybe take advantage of some alone time with that gorgeous boss of yours."
"We've got serious work to complete," I protested weakly, unable to hide my smile.
"Two hours, Monica. That's all I'm saying. I didn't dress you up like that for nothing," she teased with a laugh. "Seriously though, Austin and I are having a blast. You know how much I adore that little guy."
