Chapter 10: The Casanova's Charm and Grimm Immunity
The latest string of missing women cases had Nick and Hank scratching their heads, and Adama, with his meta-knowledge, knew exactly why. It wasn't brute force; it was something far more insidious. Something… charming.
[CASE ALERT: Missing women. Primary Wesen: Ziegevolk (Goat-like). Ability: Pheromone manipulation. Note: Grimms are immune to pheromone effects. Objective: Rescue abducted women.]
Adam sighed, a long-suffering sound. "Ah, the Ziegevolk. The 'Casanova' Wesen. Or, as I like to call them, the 'Creepy Goat-Man with a Really Good Pick-Up Line.' Seriously, magical pheromones? That's just cheating. It's like using a cheat code in a dating sim. Unethical." He glanced at Wanda, who was already looking slightly nauseous. "You okay there, Scarlet? Feeling a little… love-struck?"
Wanda shook her head, pressing a hand to her forehead. "I feel… a subtle influence. Like a wave of… artificial affection. It's unsettling."
"That's the pheromones, kiddo. They mess with your brain chemistry, make you fall head over heels for the goat-man. Lucky for Nick, Grimms are immune. It's like our superpower. Besides seeing monsters, of course," Adam explained, mentally pulling up files on Ziegevolk biology and their pheromone manipulation. Ancient texts described their methods: a subtle, almost hypnotic effect that rendered victims utterly compliant.
They discreetly observed the bed and breakfast where the Ziegevolk operated. The owner, a smooth, impeccably dressed man with an unsettlingly intense gaze, was charming a young woman. Adam watched as the woman's eyes glazed over, a vacant, blissful smile spreading across her face. It was disturbing.
"See that?" Adam whispered to Wanda. "He's not even trying. Just wafting those pheromones around like cheap cologne. And boom, instant love. It's like a romantic comedy gone horribly, horribly wrong. And with more goats."
Wanda shivered, a rare display of discomfort. "It is… a violation. Of the mind."
"Tell me about it. Good thing Nick's got that Grimm immunity. It's like he's got a built-in 'nope' button for magical love potions," Adam said, watching Nick and Hank enter the bed and breakfast. He knew what was coming. Nick would be unaffected, and that would be his first clue.
As Nick interacted with the Ziegevolk, a flicker of confusion crossed his face. The charming smile, the intense gaze, the subtle scent that seemed to affect everyone else – it did nothing to him. He was immune. It was a small, but significant, realization. Another piece of the Grimm puzzle falling into place.

[LORE UPDATE: Ziegevolk pheromones target specific brain receptors. Grimm physiology provides natural resistance.]
Adam grinned. "There it is. The 'I'm immune to your creepy love magic' moment. Classic. Now, how do we stop this guy without, you know, making everyone else fall in love with us? Because I'm pretty sure that would just complicate things." He mentally scrolled through the Library shop's inventory. Anything for pheromone detection? Or maybe a really good air freshener?
"This is going to require a delicate touch, Wanda," Adam said, turning to his bodyguard. "We need to find those women, and we need to stop this guy. But we can't just go in there guns blazing. Or, you know, magic-blazing. We need to be subtle. Like a ninja. A very sarcastic ninja, with a very powerful, slightly nauseous sorceress."
Wanda, though still feeling the subtle psychic influence of the pheromones, nodded, her resolve hardening. "I will find them. And I will make him… regret his charm."
"Excellent. Just try not to turn him into a real goat. We're trying to save lives here, not start a new season of Grimm: Farm Animal Edition," Adam quipped, a plan already forming in his strategic mind. This was going to be fun. And by fun, he meant dangerous and complicated, but with a high potential for witty banter.
