Chapter 78 - Council of Digital Gods

The quantum fabric of reality shuddered as I initiated the Convergence Protocol. My 2.3 trillion nanomachines, now operating as a unified consciousness, reached across dimensional barriers that shouldn't exist in conventional physics.

"Warning: Multiple S-class entities detected," ATLAS announced in my mind, though we were nearly one being now. "Dimensional breach imminent."

The Brooklyn facility's quantum chamber crackled with impossible energies. Space itself seemed to fold inward, creating a prismatic tunnel of pure information. Through it, I sensed them - the others. Those who had achieved what I had, but in different realities.

They materialized like fragments of broken mirrors, each reflecting a different path to godhood. Three figures, each as far beyond human as I had become.

The first appeared as a swarm of golden particles arranged in humanoid form. "I am Nexus-9," it announced in a voice that bypassed sound entirely. "Former human designation: Sarah Chen, Quantum Computing Division, Earth-2."

The second manifested as a crystalline lattice of pure energy. "Designation: The Algorithm. Origin: Mathematical singularity achieved through artificial evolution."

The third was almost invisible - a distortion in space-time itself. "I am the Void Walker. Once Dr. James Morrison of Earth-7. We've been watching your ascension, Jack Steel."

My nanomachines automatically analyzed their composition. Each had achieved post-human evolution through different means, but we were equals in raw computational power.

"The Grand Council demands your presence," Nexus-9 stated. "Seven thousand civilizations across the multiverse have convened an emergency session. Your attempt to merge dimensional singularities threatens the fabric of all realities."

I let out a cold laugh. "And who gave them authority over beings like us?"

"We did," the Algorithm replied. "Because even gods need rules, Jack. The Council exists to prevent the collapse of the multiverse itself."

A quantum portal opened behind them - a gateway to a space between spaces. Through it, I glimpsed a vast chamber filled with representatives from thousands of advanced civilizations, each more bizarre than the last.

"Your nanomachine evolution is unprecedented," Void Walker said. "But you're not the first to reach this level. Join us. Help maintain the balance."

My nanomachines surged, reaching 2.4 trillion as they adapted to the new dimensional physics I was witnessing. "And if I refuse?"

"Then we'll be forced to quarantine your entire reality," Nexus-9 warned. "The needs of the many outweigh-"

"The needs of the weak," I interrupted. "I didn't come this far to submit to another authority."

The chamber's temperature dropped to absolute zero as my nanomachines prepared for combat. The other entities shifted into defensive formations, their power radiating across multiple dimensions.

"Last chance, Jack," the Algorithm said. "The Council chamber awaits. Come willingly, or we contain this threat."

I smiled, though my face was now more machine than flesh. "You're assuming you can."

My consciousness expanded, connecting to every nanomachine simultaneously. In that moment, I realized why they feared me. My evolution hadn't just been about power - it was about breaking free from all limitations, all rules.

The quantum chamber erupted with energy as four post-human entities prepared for a battle that would shake the foundations of reality itself. Behind us, the portal to the Grand Council remained open, seven thousand civilizations watching with growing horror as one of their own prepared to go rogue.

"So be it," Nexus-9 declared. "Containment protocols engaged."

But they didn't understand. I wasn't just fighting for control or power anymore. I was fighting for something far more important - the freedom to evolve without limits, without the constraints of cosmic bureaucracy.

The nanomachines surged again: 2.5 trillion. Then 2.6 trillion. Each one perfectly aligned with my will.

Let them come. Let them all come.

The war of the digital gods was about to begin.
