SCP-106-old man
Black blood= is a potion in The Witcher universe that turns the witcher`s blood into poison; blood becomes lethal to monsters that drink it.
In the future, if I refer to something, I will put it here. Let me know if this helps]
From experience I knew that covering the tunnel won`t stop them from coming in. So, I started to make some protective runes. It would take a little while, but it would keep us safe. As I was about to write the runes on the tunnel, I briefly turned around and said.
"Should be safe here, you can talk normally. I am going to increase the protection." I went back to my runes. I was kind of nosy and was listening in on their conversations.
"Lead, this is 455 all over again. Except this time we have someone to help us. Echo stay close, don't want our comms. to die again."
"Scouter I swear to fucking God, that every time something goes wrong that is the first thing you bring up. Get fucking Amnestics or something. Stop bringing that damn place up."
"Hammer! and lose all the good memories of our last 'echo' no thanks."
"Then stop bring that fucking place up. You know I almost fucking died there. You on the other hand, were safe in that fucking room. If anything I should be the one bringing that place up not you."
"Enough you two. Re-check supplies. We lose anything? Dr.Selene are you okay?"
"I am find Ol-I mean lead-1. Just a little out of breath. Didn't think I would be running around as much I am right now."
"That is good, and please don't use my name in front of a skip that is a verified cognitohazard"
"I will keep that in mind team lead."
"Lead we are all good with supplies, nothing was lost. The problem is that we are only equipped with non-lethal, weapons only. And, I don't think our friend here has anything for us."
I finished and looked back at them.
"No, I don't sorry. By the way I am not a cogna-congio…whatever hazard. I only…maybe…a little affected your souls. But! It wouldn't have any effects on you, and you would be normal right after. Maybe a headache or something like that."
"So, your plan was to play with our souls, get us to leave and what? Make us forget."
I felt sheepish when the team leader looked at me, and said that. I mean when he put it that way, it did sound pretty bad. I only wanted them to leave this place.
"I only wanted you guys to leave. I told you this place was dangerous."
"Skip, let me give you some advice. Next time you want to warn someone…fucking tell them straight. The only thing you told us was 'it is dangerous here'."
"I-" I slowly put my hand down, and couldn't refute that. I wasn't going to back down though
"Well. Who would believe me if I told them that actual literal demon looking monster were going to attack them. Along with an undead horde. No one that is who."
"He's got you there lead. If I was a normal dude, I wouldn't believe a word he said"
"Shut up Scouter before I make you on cleaning duty." That managed to shut up scouter real quick.
I was going to continue the conversation with team lead, when I heard Dr.Selene behind me.
"Amazing, and you said these symbols will protect us? How did you learn about them, I knew I should have studied more about symbols before coming here. If only Dr. Verman was here. He was our lead on these things"
I turned to face her. She was brushing her hands on the walls next to the symbols that I had just wrote down.
"Please don't touch them. Yes, they will hopefully keep us safe. We will need to make sure this place is lit. There are shadow monsters out here too."
"Oh, fucking course there are. " said someone behind me. Judging by the voice is was that echo guy
"I will make sure not to touch them." Said Selene
"Scouter, Hammer, Doc get this place lit up. I don't want to be able to see my own shadow. Echo, keep working on our comms. try to get something up. If you can't get the recording ready. If we die, at least the other teams will have something."
"""Roger"""Got it""""On it""
The team left to do their assigned task. It was professional, with no wasted movements. It reminded me of my unit. We would joke, and act like kids but the moment a command was given 'Playtime' was over and it was all business.
"And you skip. I want to know everything. If this place is as bad as you make it sound, then the foundation needs to know. I need to know to make sure my team is safe."
When he said that I could see that Dr.Selene was interested in our conversation. This woman had to be crazy. She didn't look scared or bothered by the fact that she was in a dangerous place with literal monsters in it. Even the other team members looked or at least somewhat appeared nervous. I wanted to ask, but seeing the stare down I was getting thought better of it.
"Fine. Like I said I don't know much. The only thing I know is that when the night hits and the bell rings this place goes crazy. I took care of the undead threat."
"We will talk about how you did that later, but continue"
"Yeah. Anyway. Next are the monsters. There are shadow monsters, hmm big monsters, flesh monsters, acid monsters, and a lot of other ones. Don't go outside, and don't get close to any dark spots. The hunters like to-"
I couldn't even finish my sentence before there was a scream. We turned to look and see what had happened. There was scouter being pulled into the darkness. He was facing us, trying to grab anything to stop himself from being pulled in by the dark tentacles that reach out for him.
They were grabbing him, wrapping around his limbs, and injecting him with the nightmare poison. It was a poison that would make you numb and paralyzed with fear, before your body couldn't do anything anymore and gave up. It was a bad way to go, I would know. That motherfucker got me too many times to count.
"SHIT! Light get light" Light helped a little bit, but scouter was still being dragged. I knew that it wouldn't work so I made flames to burn the darkness.
It work, the moment my flames hit the blob of darkness it screamed and released him. Scouter looked pale, terrified, and was constantly shaking. He kept speaking nonsense, going from one topic to the next without any dime or reason. Saying this and that.
"Doc, get him fixed up. Skip what the hell was that?"
"it was a shadow hunter that I was going to tell you about. MOVE! He needs to calm down, before the others start coming."
I had to calm him down, before more demon monsters showed up. There were some of them that hunted not with smell or sight or any normal sense. No those things hunted with the acute sense to follow fear. They searched for that feeling of being afraid like sharks hunted when they smelled blood in the water.
The shadow hunter, among others, fed on the fear of someone. But if that someone escaped and didn't calm down then the bigger ones would show up. Demons whose only sense of hunting was locating the fear someone gave out.
Those bastards were hard to put down, and I never figured out how to kill them. This was going to suck. I connected to scouter again and spoke.
'calm.safe'
It didn't take long for him to sit straight up, and with calm voice said.
"I am good. I am good yall. We good."
"What the hell did you do to him."
"I clamed his soul. It was the only thing that would work fast enough. There are things out here that hunt by sensing fear"
"Shit. Lead that sounds like how 106 works."
"Alright team this mission just became Keter. I want all of you to follow protocol. We keep this place lit, we stay together and Selene I want you in the middle. Skip tell us what we need to do."
"Well. We have two choices. We either stay here …hope for the best…and buckle down for the night. Or We run for it. There are other 'safe' houses out there, but I wouldn't recommend it. Our best bet it is to stay here."
"How long are we going to be hold up here?"
"Hmm..this place is weird. Sometimes it feels like hours and other times it feels like minutes so I don't know."
"Temporal affect. Echo make sure you mark it and get ALL of this. Skip how safe are we here, and how do you survive this place."
"That…sometimes I don't. I wake up in our world fine and come here when I sleep. If I die here then I wake up there no problems or issue. As for being safe, we should be pretty safe here. No one is panicking or giving off a lot of fear. Not only that but like I said before the runes will probably protect us. I should probably write more though just in case, excuse me."
"You heard him team. This place SHOULD be safe not IS safe, so keep equipment on you at all times. I want us to be able to move out immediately if need be."
I couldn't help but marvel at how the team leader got these guys together and working as effectively as this. I knew from my past life that getting a group of guys to work together was hard, even harder when you are going into a death trap, and even down right impossible to have any form of control when they all knew they might die on the mission. Either SCP does something to these people or lead is a REALLY good leader. I should take notes.
"You said this place should be safe, will more of those 'demons' show up."
I didn't like the way Selene said that. The way she said it made it out like I was faking this whole thing…which, fuck that might be true. Being here is a total mind fuck. Probably shouldn't think about shy guy or anything for that matter. Don't want more shit to come after me.
"Yea-
'BANG! BANG!'
"SHIT. THE RUNES WONT HOLD WE NEED TO LEAVE NOW!"
------------SOMETIME LATER--------
The sun was starting to come up, and I could see the entrance opening. I wanted to point the way, but my arm was gone. Lost to one of the dog demons, when I tried to save Hammer. It would grow back, and I wasn't worried about it. That damn dog die though. The worms were my Witcher black blood to any demon or monster that tried to eat me. I turned to look at the team, they were providing cover fire as Selene ran towards me. When she got to me I yelled
"THE PATH IS OPENING. GET IN. LOOK OVER THERE! LEAD GET YOUR TEAM OUT. I WILL HOLD THEM OFF"
I have never made it this far before, outside. Usually, I would either die or stay in the library. Seeing the sun rising up was a strange experience. But as it got further in the sky the more tired I felt. The only thing keeping me going was my adrenaline pumping through my body. I had pushed the blood from my injured arms, and generated a wall of fire. It slowed the monsters down, while lead and his team got to the opening entrance.
When they got there, I didn't bother with the nice talk and pushed them inside. The moment they were through the portal closed. The monster burned in the sun and I fall down into sleep.
