Scott looked at Jacob beside him, and asked, "When did you guys get here?"
Jacob shrugged. "We came before you arrived with Derek and the others."
Scott's brow furrowed. "Then why didn't you help?"
Jacob threw an arm around Scott's shoulder, his tone shifting to something almost paternal. "You can't always depend on me, Scott. You have to learn to protect yourself and the people you care about." He squeezed his shoulder, holding his gaze for a moment longer. "That's what it means to be a man, son."
Scott's eyes narrowed. He shoved Jacob away. "Screw you."
Jacob laughed. Then his gaze drifted to Peter, who was staring at Allison with unmistakable fear—memories of the beating she'd given him clearly still fresh. Jacob said, "Hey, Peter. Stop ogling my wife."
Peter flinched so hard he nearly stumbled. His eyes went wide with panic. "I—I wasn't ogling her! I swear! I'm... I'm sorry, I won't look at her again, just please don't beat me, and keep her away from me!"
Jacob smirked. "Relax. I was just messing with you."
Peter exhaled in relief. "By the way… thank you for saving my life."
Jacob waved a dismissive hand, his attention already shifting back to the main event—Chris, Victoria and Allison facing down Stanisław and his four remaining hunters.
But then he heard it.
Someone running toward the warehouse at supernatural speed.
Scott heard it too. So did the others. Every head turned toward the entrance.
The massive iron door exploded inward, torn from its hinges and sent flying across the warehouse floor. Two figures burst through, skidding to a halt with predatory grace.
Cogman and Malia had arrived.
In the stunned silence that followed, they didn't hesitate. They didn't scan the room. They didn't assess the situation. They locked onto Stanisław and his hunters like missiles and attacked.
Cogman's voice rang out, righteous and indignant. "Sir! Lady Allison! We are here to save you!"
He grabbed the nearest Zima hunter before the man could even react. A vicious headbutt sent the hunter crumpling to the ground, dazed. Cogman straddled his chest and began punching—methodical, brutal, relentless—until the hunter's face collapsed into a pulpy mess and exploded like a overripe melon. "How dare you attack sir and my lady!"
At the same time, Malia coated both fists with crackling lightning and punched two hunters simultaneously. They flew backward, chests caved in, bodies smoking, and crashed into the wall. They coughed blood once before going still—their hearts shattered by the impact.
Stanisław and his sole surviving hunter scrambled back, putting distance between themselves and the two new threats.
Malia glanced at Allison, tilting her head. "They're the enemy, right?"
Allison pinched the bridge of her nose. "You're only asking now? You already killed them!" She sighed. "What are you even doing here?"
Malia scratched the back of her head sheepishly. "Well, Cogman told me some idiots were trying to ambush you and Jay, and he was going to deal with them. So I came along to join the fun." She paused. "He didn't tell me what they look like, though."
Allison stared at her. "Then why did you kill them?"
"They looked suspicious." Malia shrugged. "Are they the enemy or not?"
"Yes, they are. But next time, ask who the enemy is before you start killing people."
"Yeah, sure." Malia's eyes locked onto Stanisław. "Old man. Let's each take one."
Cogman straightened, outraged. "That's not fair, Lady Malia! You already killed two. Leave these two to me."
"I can't help it if you were slow."
"I wasn't slow! I was taking my time. There's no fun in killing them too fast."
Malia's eyes lit up. "Let's play rock, paper, scissors. Winner fights them both."
Cogman considered this for half a second. "Deal."
They began playing, completely ignoring the stunned hunters.
Stanisław's face twisted with rage. These new arrivals were treating him like a joke. He coated his sword with white energy and snarled, "Do you think I'm a joke?!"
Malia and Cogman turned to him simultaneously.
They opened their mouths.
A ball of lightning shot from Malia's. A searing energy beam from Cogman's.
The two attacks merged and struck Stanisław before his energy shield could solidify. His hastily-woven barrier shattered like glass. The blast hit him square in the chest, burning through flesh, sending him crashing into the wall. He convulsed, electricity arcing across his body.
Malia and Cogman turned back to their game without a second glance.
Cogman pumped a fist. "Yes! I win! You'll keep your word, right, my lady?"
Malia sighed. "Fine. You can have them."
Allison shook her head at the two idiots. "Cogman. You can't kill Stanisław."
Cogman's face fell like a child who'd just been told their birthday party was cancelled. "B-but why?"
"Leave him for my dad." Allison's lips curved into a knowing smile. "And Cogman? You're in trouble."
Cogman's eyes widened. "W-what trouble?"
Allison nodded subtly toward Jacob.
Cogman turned slowly.
Jacob was staring at him with an evil smirk.
Cogman swallowed hard. "Oh, bollocks."
Jacob raised a hand. A massive fire serpent erupted from his palm and streaked toward the remaining Zima hunter. The man raised an energy shield—but the serpent burned through it like paper and consumed him entirely, leaving nothing but ash.
Cogman didn't move. Didn't breathe. He just watched Jacob nervously.
Chris picked up the Desert Eagle loaded with rusted bullets—the one that had fallen from Gerard's hand. He walked to Stanisław, who still lay injured and convulsing on the ground, and aimed the gun at his head.
Stanisław opened his mouth to speak. But Chris had no interest in last words. He pulled the trigger.
The shot echoed through the warehouse. Stanisław Zima's body went limp, his unfinished sentence dying with him.
Chris turned and walked to Victoria without a backward glance. "Jacob, please burn Gerard's body." Then he and Victoria teleported to Serendell.
Jacob waved his hand. A wallet flew from Stanisław's pocket into his palm. He pocketed it, then raised his other hand. Flames erupted, consuming every corpse in the warehouse until nothing remained but ash.
He turned to Cogman, one eyebrow raised. "Didn't I tell you not to come here?"
Cogman straightened, trying to look helpful. "I noticed all the Zima hunters left their hotel and headed to your location, sir. I came to assist."
Jacob gave him a long, flat look.
Cogman deflated. "Okay, okay. I admit it. I came here to have fun."
"That's not the problem." Jacob's voice was calm, but there was an edge to it. "The problem is that you brought Malia with you. What if we'd been fighting a wizard or a witch? What if she'd touched one of them and gotten hurt?"
Cogman's expression softened with genuine sincerity. "Rest assured, sir. I told her the enemies tonight were all Bogatyrs. I explained their abilities to her in detail. I would never put one of my ladies in danger. I promise."
Jacob studied him for a moment, then sighed. "Fine. But I'm still punishing you. So that the next time, you'll tell me before you decide to do something."
Cogman's eyes widened. "What's the punishment, sir? Do you want me to wash your feet?"
Jacob recoiled. "What? No! I can wash my own feet, you weirdo." He crossed his arms. "You just earned yourself another month. So for the next three months, no killing for you."
Cogman wailed, his voice echoing through the warehouse. "Nooooo! Please, sir! Anything but that!" He lunged forward, arms outstretched to hug Jacob's leg.
Jacob flicked a finger. Telekinesis caught Cogman mid-lunge and sent him flying into the wall with a satisfying thud. "I can make it six months if you're not satisfied with three."
Cogman slid down the wall, eyes wide with despair. He looked at Allison pleadingly.
Allison shook her head.
He turned to Malia.
Malia, suddenly very aware that she might also be in trouble, pretended she didn't see him. She walked to Jacob, wrapped her arms around him, and kissed him. "It was all Cogman's fault. I won't do it again."
Jacob raised an eyebrow. "Is that so?"
Malia nodded quickly, her eyes wide and innocent. "Yes! Next time, I'll tell you first." She kissed him again. "Can you forgive me? Just this once?"
Jacob's lips twitched. "Fine. But only this time."
Cogman's jaw dropped. "That's not fair, sir! You should forgive me too!"
Jacob's expression hardened. "No. For the next three months, you're just a butler. No fighting. No killing. Understood?"
Cogman slumped. "Damn it." He muttered under his breath, just loud enough for everyone to hear, "With how perverted you are, I should have taken the appearance of a beautiful woman instead of an old man. Then I could get away with everything."
The warehouse went silent.
Allison's eyes narrowed to dangerous slits. "Make that four months. And this is the last time I hear you say you want to become a woman."
Cogman's face cycled through several expressions of horror. "Noooo! I'm sorry, my lady! Please..."
Allison waved a hand, cutting him off. "Are you still complaining? Look at Jay. He looks like he's about to stop you from fighting for a few years—or even melt you with his fire. I just saved your ass."
Cogman glanced at Jacob, who was indeed glaring at him with barely contained irritation. He bowed deeply to Allison. "Thank you, my lady." Without another word, he teleported to Serendell.
Jacob shook his head, dismissing Cogman from his thoughts. "Alright. Let's get out of here."
Allison gestured at the scattered weapons. "We can't leave these guns and swords behind. Take them."
Jacob waved his hand. All the weapons—guns, swords, daggers—lifted into the air and floated toward him before disappearing into his pocket dimension.
Allison walked to Jacob, then paused. She turned to Peter with a slow, dangerous smile. "Hello, Peter. Want to spar again?"
Peter's face went pale. He scrambled behind Derek, clutching his arm like a shield. "No! No, no, no! Please—just leave me alone!"
Allison's smile widened before fading into something more serious. She looked at Boyd and Isaac, both still battered from their ordeal. "I'm sorry for what Gerard did to you. I hate to admit it, but that monster was my grandfather. So… I'm sorry." Her voice hardened slightly. "You should be more careful. The supernatural world is unforgiving. Ruthless. Filled with people much worse than Gerard. It's not as nice as Derek probably told you before he gave you the bite."
She turned to Derek, her gaze sharp. "You shouldn't just teach them to control themselves. You need to tell them how dangerous our side of the world really is."
Derek met her eyes but said nothing.
Jacob looked at Scott. "You coming home or not?"
Scott glanced at Tracy. "I'll drive Tracy home first."
Jacob smirked. "Alright. Drive safe. And don't stay out too late. Me and Mel worry about you, you know."
Scott rolled his eyes and walked toward the exit without responding.
Jacob smiled, then wrapped one arm around Allison and the other around Malia. He looked at Derek one last time. "See you around, man. Try to stay out of trouble."
And then they vanished from the warehouse, teleporting back to the mansion.
They found no one there so they teleported again—this time to Serendell. Dinner was warm and lively, the tension of the night slowly melting away as Jacob, his wives, Kitty, and Saphira ate together. When the meal ended, they moved to their private living room.
Jacob sank into a comfortable recliner, and Kitty immediately hopped onto his lap, curling up with her phone. He stroked her fur absently, his mind finally turning to the system notification that had been waiting patiently.
'System, sign in.'
[Event Sign-In Successful. Rewards Obtained:

2️⃣ Cleaning Spell Scroll x20: Allows the user to learn a cleaning spell. Instantly cleans and freshens any target—clothes, dishes, floors, entire houses, etc.

Jacob's eyes lit up with excitement. 'Okay, Senzu Beans are awesome. Sure, I don't need the healing, but stamina and energy restoration? That's incredibly useful. And I can have forty beans a year—then plant more when I harvest them. It's a good reward. The cleaning spell isn't bad either. As for the car…' He pulled out his phone and quickly looked up the Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster.
'Nice car, but I'll give it to the girls. I don't like it very much, and the one the system gave me is red, so... yeah, that's not for me.'
He glanced at Melissa and the others, who were absorbed in whatever show was playing. "Hey, girls. Anyone want this car?" He tossed his phone to Melissa.
The girls crowded around, studying the image of the sleek red convertible.
"I want it!" Malia declared immediately.
Jacob raised an eyebrow. "You can't have a car yet. Get your driver's license first."
Malia pouted but didn't argue.
Allison looked at Jacob curiously. "Did you buy this?"
"Nope. It just appeared in my pocket dimension a minute ago. Along with some Senzu beans and a cleaning spell."
The car was instantly forgotten. Lydia's eyes sparkled. "Just put the car in the garage, and whoever feels like driving can take it. Now tell us about this cleaning spell."
Jacob pulled out six scrolls. He tossed four to Allison, Lydia, Malia, and Melissa, handed one to Kitty, and kept one for himself. "Open it. You'll learn it."
Everyone unrolled their scrolls. The parchment dissolved into streams of white light that sank into their foreheads. For a moment, they all sat still, eyes closed, absorbing the knowledge.
Then, one by one, their eyes snapped open with excitement.
One by one, they kissed him—Melissa, Lydia, Malia, Allison. Even Kitty gave him a quick peck on the cheek before scrambling off to test her new ability.
Jacob watched with a satisfied smile as the girls and Kitty darted around the room, cleaning things with gleeful waves of their hands. Dust vanished. Smudges disappeared. The room sparkled.
Saphira, who had been watching everything from her spot on the couch with bright, intelligent eyes, waddled over and climbed onto Jacob's lap. She raised a tiny clawed hand.
Jacob tilted his head. "What? You want the spell too?"
Saphira shook her little dragon head and pointed at her mouth.
"You want food? Meat?"
Another shake.
"Chocolate?"
Saphira nodded frantically, her eyes wide and hopeful.
Jacob chuckled, pulling a chocolate bar from his pocket dimension. He unwrapped it, and Saphira took it delicately, munching happily, her tiny tail swishing with contentment.
Soon, she finished and curled up in Jacob's lap, ready to sleep.
Lydia appeared beside them. She frowned at the tiny dragon. "Saphira, you're dirty. Let me clean you up." She waved her hand, and a soft white light enveloped Saphira. The chocolate stains on her face vanished, and her blue scales gleamed like polished gems.
Lydia nodded in satisfaction. "There. Perfect." She turned and headed for the door. "Now I need to go clean my room. This spell is amazing!"
The other girls followed her, chattering excitedly about all the things they were going to clean.
Jacob just smiled, watching them go. He looked down at Saphira, who yawned widely.
Jacob yawned too.
Soon, both of them were fast asleep, curled together in the comfortable chair.
