The principal led Allison and Jacob to the class Scott and Stiles were in.
Once the three of them entered, the principal addressed the class. "Everyone, this is our new student, Allison Argent. Please do your best to make her feel welcome."
Then, without another word, he turned and started walking out of the classroom.
Jacob called after him. "Where are you going, sir? You didn't introduce me yet."
The principal didn't stop. "You can introduce yourself, Mr. Alexander. And try not to make trouble for your teacher."
After saying that, the principal closed the door behind him and left.
Jacob glanced at Allison. "That was rude."
Allison just shook her head with a small smile.
Jacob turned to the teacher. "Hello, teacher. Can I introduce myself?"
The teacher nodded. "Go ahead."
Jacob faced the class. "Hi, everyone. My name is Jacob Alexander. I just moved to town from New York. My favorite color is black, my hobbies are playing video games and watching movies and TV shows, and I like reading novels from time to time. Now, you can ask questions."
A girl immediately raised her hand. "Do you have a girlfriend?"
Jacob smirked. "No. And you're not my type. Next question."
Stiles and a few others burst into laughter while the girl huffed. "You're rude."
Another student spoke up. "Are you going to join the lacrosse team?"
Jacob shrugged. "No. I bruise like a peach, so lacrosse isn't for me. Besides, I'd rather flirt with girls than run around holding a stick with a bunch of sweaty dudes. That's just boring."
Someone else pointed at Allison. "What's your relationship with her?"
Jacob grinned. "She's my wife, and we got here late because we couldn't find a nanny for our six kids."
Allison, who was standing by his side, blushed and caught him by the arm and dragged him to the back empty seats while saying to the teacher. "Sorry about him, sir. You can continue the lesson. If you let him talk, he'll never shut up."
As they sat down, Allison whispered. "I thought coming to class with you would make things less awkward, but you idiot made it worse! Now everyone's staring at us. This is embarrassing."
Jacob smirked. "Come on, Allison. You need to be more brave and stop caring about what people think of you. Besides, you have me as a friend, and that's enough. You don't need to make friends with these losers."
Allison hissed. "Shh! You're too loud. They'll hear you."
"I don't care if they do." Jacob said.
Allison sighed and focused on listening to the teacher, while Jacob scanned the room. His gaze landed on Lydia, who was watching him with interest. He smiled and winked at her.
She returned the smile before turning her attention back to the lesson.
Then, Jacob spotted Stiles sitting at the next table. "Oh, if it isn't the traitor, Stiles."
Stiles frowned. "What do you mean?"
"You left me and Scott behind in the woods and ran straight to your daddy." Jacob said.
"What? No, that's not what happened!" Stiles protested.
Jacob raised an eyebrow. "If I remember right, the three of us saw cops with flashlights ahead, so we hid. But then you suddenly bolted toward them like when a stupid moth sees light. If you weren't trying to find your dad, then why did you run toward the flashlights?"
Stiles crossed his arms. "I wasn't running toward the flashlights—I was trying to find the body before they did. But I got caught."
Jacob opened his mouth to respond, but the teacher cut him off.
"Stilinski, Alexander, do you two have something to share with the rest of the class?"
Stiles shook his head. "Not really."
The teacher glared. "Then shut up and pay attention."
After that, Jacob stopped causing trouble. He opened his book and tried—though not very hard—to focus on the lesson.

After class, Jacob and Allison were standing by the lockers. Then Lydia came to them and extended a hand to Allison and said. "Hi, I'm Lydia."
Allison shook her hand. "Hi, I'm Allison."
Lydia smiled. "I think you and I could be good friends. Best friends, even."
Jacob tilted his head. "Hey, redhead, why are you ignoring me?"
Lydia crossed her arms. "I heard you calling me a loser in class."
Jacob blinked. "Did I? I don't remember."
"You called all the students losers and told Allison not to make friends with us." Lydia said.
Jacob waved a hand. "I wasn't talking about you. I meant the rest of the class."
Just then, Jackson slipped an arm around Lydia from behind. "Including me, new kid."
Jacob grinned. "Definitely."
Allison nudged him. "He's just joking, aren't you, Jay?"
Jacob shrugged. "No, I'm not."
Jackson glared, and Jacob smirked. "Stop ogling me like that. I like girls."
Jackson blinked, confused, and said. "What?"
Jacob turned to Lydia. "Is he always this slow?"
Lydia sighed. "Okay, you two can stop it. By the way, I'm throwing a party this weekend."
Allison said. "A party?"
Jackson nodded. "Yeah, Friday. All the lacrosse players will be there. I think you should come." He glanced at Jacob. "Not sure about your friend, though."
Jacob raised an eyebrow. "Your boyfriend seems really excited about all the lacrosse guys being at the party. Are you sure he likes girls?"
Jackson sputtered. "I was just saying she could find a hot boyfriend, that's all!"
Jacob smirked. "So you think they're hot, huh?"
Lydia rolled her eyes. "Jackson, shut up."
Allison smiled. "Well, I'm not looking for a boyfriend. And I doubt any of those guys is hotter than Jay."
Jacob smoothed his hair. "Thanks, Allison. I know I'm hot, but it's nice to hear it from time to time."
Allison rolled her eyes and said. "Although you're hot, you're also full of yourself, which makes you really hard to like sometimes. You narcissist."
Jacob grinned. "Thanks for the compliment again, Allison."
She shook her head and turned back to Lydia. "If Jay isn't welcome, then I'm not coming either."
Lydia waved a hand. "Of course he can come."
Jacob groaned. "Do we have to go? I'd rather stay home and play video games."
Allison nudged him. "I don't like parties either, but it might be fun. And you won't let me go alone, will you?"
Jacob sighed. "Fine. But, redhead, you better prepare a lot of good food, because I eat a lot."
Lydia smiled. "There'll be plenty. Don't worry. Now let's go watch the lacrosse practice. By the way, Jackson is the captain of the team."
Jackson puffed his chest. "We've won the state championship for the past three years."
He waited for Jacob's reaction, but Jacob wasn't even paying attention to him. Instead, he waved at Stiles and Scott, who lingered nearby.
"Hey, guys! What's up? Come hang out with us!"
Stiles whispered to Scott. "What do we do?"
Scott shrugged. "Let's go. We can be considered friends with the mugger."
They approached, but before they could speak, Jackson scoffed. "Why'd you call these nerds over?"
Jacob shot him a look. "Because they're my friends. And if you don't want to hang out with them, then you can get lost."
Then he gestured to Allison. "Stiles, Scott, this is Allison."
Both boys nodded. "Nice to meet you, Allison."
Allison smiled warmly. "Nice to meet you too." Then she glanced at Jacob curiously. "When did you meet them?"
"Yesterday." Jacob answered. "When I went to the woods looking for the body. We met there and went together."
Lydia's eyes widened. "Did you see it?"
"Me and Scott did." Jacob confirmed. "Right before a crazy bear attacked us and we got separated. The bear chased me, but luckily, Allison and her mom saved me."
Scott frowned. "Wait, you think it was a bear? I thought it was a wolf."
Allison shook her head. "That thing was definitely not a wolf. It was way too big."
"You saw it too?" Scott asked, surprised.
Allison nodded. "Yes. My mom and I were driving when we almost hit Jay. Then that thing appeared from the woods. After Jay got in the car, my mom sped away, but it actually managed to keep up with us and was about to hit the car. Luckily, Jay used bear spray on it and it stopped chasing us."
"Are you sure it was a bear?" Scott pressed.
"I'm not sure." Allison admitted. "I didn't see it clearly. I only saw its glowing red eyes."
Stiles groaned. "Damn, I didn't see the body or this bear-wolf thing you're talking about. Why did I get caught by my dad?"
Jacob smirked. "You didn't get caught. You ran to them and gave yourself up."
"No, that's not what happened!" Stiles protested. "Scott, tell him!"
Scott scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "I think Jacob's right, buddy. You did run toward the cops and left the two of us behind."
"That's not what happened!" Stiles insisted.
Scott shrugged. "It doesn't matter. Let's go or we are going to be late for the lacrosse tryout. Jacob, see you later."
Jacob said. "Good luck."
After that, they went to the lacrosse field.
Jacob sat with Allison and Lydia, watching as Scott, playing goalie, stopped every shot. When Jackson took his turn, Scott blocked his attempt too. Lydia suddenly jumped up, cheering loudly.
Jacob raised an eyebrow. "Hey, are you cheering for Scott or your boyfriend?"
Lydia sat back down quickly. "I'm cheering for Jackson, of course."
Allison tilted her head. "But he didn't score. Scott stopped the ball."
"Well, I'm just cheering for the team." Lydia said defensively.
Allison glanced at the field. "Your boyfriend doesn't seem to see it that way. He looks pissed."
Lydia tilted her head and said. "Does he?"
Allison just shook her head and didn't respond.
After the game, they returned to class and finished their school day. Jacob, Stiles, Allison, and Scott gathered outside when Chris pulled up in his car.
"Goodbye, guys." Allison said. "And Jay, see you later—if I manage to escape from home. But from the look on my dad's face, I doubt that."
Jacob nodded. "Well, you know where to find me. But you should text me first in case I wasn't home."
After Allison left, Jacob said his goodbyes to Scott and Stiles and drove back to his mansion.
