Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: The Grief of Shrek Academy

After spending half a day, Oscar successfully refined the Phoenix Nirvana Pill. Judging by its appearance, color, and the scent it emitted, this immortal grade pill was complete.

While his technique didn't match that of professional alchemists, simply transforming medicinal ingredients into pill form was within Oscar's capabilities.

Over the next several days, Oscar continued this routine spending half the day refining immortal grade pills and cultivating within the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well at night.

When he was with Dugu Yan, aside from guiding her cultivation, Oscar also taught her various poison related technique show to concoct poisons and their practical uses.

Though Dugu Yan had studied poison techniques before at Dugu Bo's insistence, she'd only learned reluctantly and superficially. Her prior aversion was understandable after all, she had been tortured by poison for so long.

But surprisingly, when Oscar became her teacher, not only did she not resist she learned with intense focus.

Oscar was gratified by this. With some foundational knowledge already in place and exceptional innate talent, Dugu Yan progressed quickly.

What Oscar didn't know was how Dugu Bo might react upon discovering this sudden change in his granddaughter.

Over the span of seven days, Oscar refined a total of five immortal grade pills. Of these, only the Phoenix Nirvana Pill had a designated recipient: Ma Hongjun.

The two had been companions for three years. Despite Ma Hongjun often acting like Oscar's subordinate, their bond ran deep, and Oscar genuinely regarded him as a younger brother. The Phoenix Nirvana Pill had been specially prepared with him in mind.

The other four pills were: Qirong Tongtian Pill ,Eight Petal Immortal Orchid Pill, Narcissus Jade Skin Pill, Kira Gold Camellia Pill.

These correspond to the immortal herbs used by the original Shrek Seven Devils in the canon storyline. Oscar didn't even bother changing their names after all, this wasn't true alchemy, just a process of energy extraction and amplification.

Each of these pills had at least 50% higher effectiveness than consuming the raw herbs, effectively equating to 1.5x the power of a single immortal herb.

That level of enhancement was staggering. While the process consumed many ten thousand year old spirit herbs and rare ingredients, it was worth every bit.

Originally, a single immortal herb was enough to forge a genius. But now, with refined and purified pill form, that same genius might become a super genius.

The exception was the Lovesick Heartbroken Red, which Oscar couldn't harvest. In fact, this herb didn't need refining. As the emperor among immortal herbs, no other material could be paired with it.

Even when taken raw, the Lovesick Heartbroken Red surpassed all other refined immortal grade pills that was the unmatched power of a herb emperor.

Oscar could have refined more pills, but didn't get the chance because Dugu Bo returned, bringing Ge Yue with him.

Though Ge Yue and Shao Xin had left one day earlier, Dugu Bo, as a Titled Douluo, arrived at Shrek Academy much faster. He had made the trip in just three days rushing to deliver urgent news regarding Oscar.

Unlike Ge Yue and Shao Xin, who returned by carriage along the main road (a journey of at least half a month), Dugu Bo had taken a shortcut. As a result, they never encountered each other on the way back.

When Dugu Bo suddenly arrived, Flender and Zhao Wuji were alarmed. They feared they'd somehow offended a Titled Douluo and prepared to fight to the death if necessary if only to ensure the safety of their students like Ma Hongjun and Dai Mubai.

But Dugu Bo didn't play games. He directly stated his purpose for coming.

Upon learning that Ge Yue hadn't returned yet, Dugu Bo realized his anxiety over Oscar had made him rush ahead without coordinating with the others.

But the information he delivered hit the staff like a bolt of lightning

Oscar was gone?

Just over a month ago, he had left. Now, news came that an eleven year old food type prodigy who had already reached Soul Elder level was dead?

The teachers were devastated. Especially Ma Hongjun, who outright refused to believe it. He emotionally lashed out, denying the possibility that his "Brother Ao" could die so easily.

Dugu Bo didn't take offense he had mentally prepared himself for such reactions. He only regretted being unable to apologize to Ge Yue directly.

In typical Dugu Bo fashion, he didn't linger. He simply told Flender where to send Ge Yue and left after making a solemn promise.

The teachers wanted more details, but with Dugu Bo's status, none dared to question him.

As for whether they doubted the message's truth how could they? A Titled Douluo came in person, offered apologies, and sought a meeting to make amends. That kind of effort was its own proof.

Still, Flender felt heartbroken. Oscar had been the most gifted student he had ever seen brilliant, determined, self driven. Flender could attach every positive quality to Oscar without hesitation.

Oscar had lightened the burdens of Shrek Academy, even helped them make money and upgrade their facilities. He was just a kid, but in many ways, he had changed Flender's life.

Now he was gone?

The grief wasn't limited to Flender it engulfed the entire academy.

Even Dai Mubai, who had only known Oscar for a day, was affected. Oscar had left a powerful impression mysterious, competent, intriguing. But now he would never have a chance to know the truth behind that aura.

Dai Mubai didn't react as emotionally as Ma Hongjun (who was reportedly crying hysterically in his room), but the oppressive sadness in the academy weighed heavily on him.

The part that stunned Dai Mubai the most was

Even in death, Oscar could influence so many people.

What kind of charisma did that take?
