Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: The Cure for the Poison

Oscar didn't pay any attention to the flicker of doubt in Dugu Bo's eyes. He remained calm and said,

"Originally, I had no intention of bringing this up. After all, we're just casual acquaintances. Although… mm… although Sister Dugu Yan is indeed as beautiful as a flower, I generally don't like meddling in other people's business."

"But because of my earlier words, I caused both you and Sister Dugu Yan to recall painful memories. And since I can understand your feelings, even if I've offended you, I still want to speak my mind."

Hearing this, Dugu Bo was visibly stirred. Although he'd only known Oscar for a few short hours, he had already formed a certain impression Oscar wasn't the kind of rash youth who made baseless claims.

If Oscar dared say something like this, it at least showed he genuinely had some insight.

Dugu Yan also slowly raised her head. She had heard everything Oscar said especially the parts where he praised her beauty and even called her "Sister."

Although Dugu Yan wasn't quite used to Oscar's sudden shift in how he addressed her, she knew one thing for sure: Oscar never spoke without purpose.

"Little Ao, what do you mean?" Dugu Bo asked, a bit tense.

Oscar replied without hesitation,

"Your Majesty, I may have a way to remove the poison afflicting you and Sister Dugu Yan. Even if I can't completely cure it, I should at least be able to significantly alleviate the symptoms."

He didn't make grand promises but instead offered hope while also leaving himself a way out.

Although Oscar had indeed studied poisons like this extensively in recent years, and could even deduce Dugu Bo's condition accurately, this was his first time dealing with a real case, and he dared not be overly confident especially since he hadn't yet entered the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well or obtained any immortal herbs.

Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan didn't even notice the change in how Oscar addressed Dugu Yan. All their attention was fixated on the word: "cure."

Even with Oscar's assurance, Dugu Bo still found it hard to believe.

After all, he had searched for over seventy years without succes show could an eleven year old possibly have a solution?

But even Oscar's claim that he could merely alleviate the symptoms was enough to shake Dugu Bo.

"Oscar, I know you're not someone who makes wild claims. But let me be isn't something to joke about. I've lived for over seventy years. If you're trying to earn my favor through false promises even if I admire you will not forgive it," Dugu Bo said sternly.

Before he could finish, Dugu Yan interrupted:

"Grandfather, what are you doing? Oscar is an outsider who dares to speak up because he can't bear to see our pain. If you keep pressing him like this, you'll put him in a terrible position."

Dugu Bo quickly calmed down, realizing he had been too forceful.

This wasn't just about himself Dugu Yan was his only remaining family. He couldn't afford even the slightest risk.

"Oscar, don't take it to heart," Dugu Yan said sincerely. "Grandfather didn't mean to scare you. He's just taking this too seriously…"

Oscar smiled warmly:

"Sister, I understand. I truly do. And I'm not one to hold grudges."

"His Majesty is right this is not a matter to be taken lightly, and I fully respect that."

Dugu Yan felt relieved. She had clearly heard him call her "Sister" again, and oddly enough, the sadness in her heart dissipated. Instead, she began to overthink "Sister? Why's he calling me sister all of a sudden?"

Oscar then turned to Dugu Bo, and the warmth on his face faded into seriousness:

"Your Majesty, although we've only known each other briefly, I believe you've come to understand my character. I would never joke about something like this. I sincerely want to help you and Sister Dugu Yan. I won't promise a miracle, but I will give it my utmost effort."

Seeing Oscar's sincere and determined expression, Dugu Bo fell silent again. After a while, he nodded:

"I was too hasty just now. If I said anything inappropriate, please forgive me."

Dugu Bo then sat up straighter, adjusted his sleeves, and said:

"Tell me I want to hear your plan."

And then he added solemnly:

"No matter what your method is, I'll owe you a favor."

This was no empty gesture just by daring to speak such things under pressure, Oscar had earned Dugu Bo's respect.

Oscar nodded and began:

"Your poison has already seeped into your bones. Trying to completely cure it is an immense challenge. I'm actually shocked you're still alive. Even as a Titled Douluo, your body has been ravaged by toxins that normal soul power shouldn't be able to suppress."

"What I'm about to say may sound disrespectful, but I ask you to bear with me it directly affects the chances of success."

Dugu Bo wasn't offended. Oscar's assessment was accurate.

Oscar continued:

"There are only two possible explanations. One: you've consumed some form of supreme herb or spiritual treasure. Two: you're using some external resource to suppress the poison."

Dugu Bo's doubts lessened even more. Oscar's analysis had clearly hit the mark.

He nodded and didn't try to hide anything:

"You're right. It was an accident, really. I discovered a medicinal garden long ago. There's something special there that suppresses my poison. It's also how I managed to break through to become a Titled Douluo."

Oscar, of course, recognized this as the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, but didn't let it show.

He merely nodded as if everything made sense.

Dugu Bo asked,

"So what does that have to do with your antidote?"

Oscar replied:

"Everything. If that special resource can suppress your poison, then I might be able to utilize it in a different way."

"To develop a proper antidote, I'll also need a large quantity of rare , ideally, high grade spirit medicines."

Dugu Bo nodded.

"What kinds of herbs? I can try to find them."

Oscar smiled helplessly:

"That's the difficult part. What I need is extraordinarily rare far more so than even soul bones."

"If you could find them, just two immortal herbs would be enough to cure both your and Sister Dugu Yan's poison completely and without side effects."

"But immortal herbs are so rare that even you, as a Titled Douluo, might never come across one in your entire lifetime."

Dugu Bo's expression darkened. But he quickly started thinking, as if recalling something.

Oscar continued:

"Of course, that's the ideal solution. Realistically, I'm not capable of achieving it at the moment."

"But don't worry there's another method. It might not fully cure the poison, but it can significantly alleviate its effects."
