Chapter 4 - "Evermore"

The alarm beeped

I closed

The alarm beeped

I closed again

The alarm beeped

I got irritated and kicked the blanket.

I woke up, checked my phone, and saw the missed calls from Amy and Daisy.

It's almost going to be 9, I panicked, rushed into the shower, stripped my clothes, took a quick shower and then wore a casual fit crop top with cargo pants, then tied my hair into messy buns.

Then I took the elevator and took the bus, which was already taking off to the beach.

Thankfully, it waited for another 5 minutes; otherwise, I am sure I would have missed it and got kicked out of the team.

I sat beside Amy after I saw the seat beside her was vacant, and then I quickly sat beside her.

"It's okay Grace!" Daisy turned back after she saw me. I was trying to catch my breath while I took my seat.

"Yeah, totally everybody will understand, even Andrew, because you got a long flight and it's not easy to come the very next day to work!" Amy said.

"I know, but still punctuality is important, right?" I made my point.

"Wait, don't tell me you are new, what's your age?" Aaron turned towards me.

"I am 23 and this is my first job!" I made it short and got awkward, damn it, I should have lied to their face. God, if they create a buzz.

"No wonder she panicked and got nervous the whole night. That's why she couldn't sleep. Am I right?" Aaron said.

"Wait how?" I questioned him, I mean, how does he know about it? Oh god, don't tell me he is also from my past.

"Oh, come on, honey, look at your dark circles and also your punctuality!" Amy replied instead of Aaron.

"Yeah, if you could have got more experience, then you would have known it's not what they say, it's according to the set and cameras", Daisy said this time.

"I am sorry I am late, I just heard the set is yet to be prepared, so I packed some snacks too." Alonzo came late and joined us.

"Wow, why?" Amy asked him, and he replied to her, "The male lead is yet to arrive!".

Then the engine began and the bus left the place. Everybody looked out, enjoying the view, but I couldn't get my eyes off my mind.

Where I found him in my memory, his few minutes' words began to make a permanent place in my heart.

I didn't focus on the view, even though they were inviting me, because my eyes were searching for him.

It took a longer time to reach there because it was over the outskirts of the city, and then as we reached, we could see the vanity vans, tents, cameras, scripts, and crew.

We only have to shoot the ending scene "where the hero finds his lover!"

Just then, everybody got down. Mr Adrian took a good look at everyone, then began to distribute ID cards, and then asked everyone to get back to work.

Camera and lights were set, the script was in my hands, and people took their positions. Lilith came out of her tent with her costume.

The scene began

I began to read the script trying to connect the words and see if she is going through the script or not.

Even if she is going natural, I won't mind until the motive is different or does not match the ending, but sometimes there are natural words and emotions that create a masterpiece.

Some words were not related, which is fine because the words meant the same, and the emotions are real, which is good.

Just then, everything wrapped up because today was the shoot for only the female lead. Then, we took our essentials while boarding the van and bus.

The light faded and then the sky got dark with beautiful colours. After dinner, I walked downstairs knowing that only the receptionist and security would be there.

I didn't change my dress but wore that same nighty gown, which I loved, and walked over the beach.

Dropped my jacket down, even though it's cold and I can feel the breeze but still I felt.

How stupid of me to miss an overnight stranger whom I met in the chapel across the city of Los Angeles, then turns out he is the most renowned actor in the Hollywood industry, and I can't take my eyes off him.

Just then, I felt heavy footsteps and then I turned around. Saw those same silver eyes which got me, and then I gasped.

"Do you think I won't follow you?" The heavy voice echoed in the darkness. I turned around to see a figure. His body was wrapped in a white shirt and long sweatpants.

-

No, it can't be

I mean why?

I took a step near him as if my body wanted to get closer to him and my mind was unwilling to give up the idea of standing far from him.

My silence didn't answer him, then the next second he whispered

"Grace, you want me not to follow you, but I don't follow the rules!"

It hit me harder, and my body shivered. How can he be so weird to waste his time on someone who just stepped into the industry?

"River, I don't know what you're saying. I needed time to figure it out, about everything!" I really wish to know what's actually going on in my mind.

His hand clenched, and then he said, "In your Last Life, every time you were scared to fall in love with me, you always ran away!"

I was surprised, how he knew that I wanted to run away from this situation.

"You know what, like in every lifetime, I made this mistake of allowing you to slip out of my shadows, but..." He took a pause then said

"This time I am not letting you slip away, this time it's gonna be you and me!" He declared.

My body froze when he said this. I can lie to him, but my dreams always prove to me that I am false.

"You shouldn't be here!" These 4 words pierced my heart but I had to say it.

"I should be everywhere, where you could be!" His soft voice melted my heart.

He came closer, moving his hand again to my neck, and his warm body made an unusual change over me, his soft hands melting my body. It feels like it's getting stuck in my body just like the wax.

My body wants more but I don't want it further.

Just then, darkness surrounded me, and I don't know what happened next...
