Lucian reread the anonymous note three times the next morning. Not because he was frightened. Because he was annoyed.
He sat near the edge of his bed with the folded paper resting between his fingers, staring at the sharp black handwriting like it had personally offended him.
Stop digging into the dead if you want to stay alive.
Lucian sighed heavily. "These people are so dramatic."
Rei, standing near the window as usual , glanced toward him.
"You should be cautious, my Lord"
Lucian looked up immediately.
"I was shot with an arrow a few days ago. I think we passed cautious already."
Rei considered that for a moment and just nodded.
Lucian narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
"You agreeing with me feels unnatural."
"You say strange things often."
"And yet you continue following me everywhere. Curious."
Rei ignored that entirely.
Honestly, impressive.
Lucian stood up and slipped the note into his sleeve.
The palace had officially entered threatening-message territory now.
