Scene: Silent Field Test — Alex's Psion Awakens
Location: A grassy plateau high above a mist-covered valley. The skies are clear, but a pressure hangs in the air — like the silence before a lightning storm.
Alex stood alone.
Eyes closed. Hands by her side. Not summoning anything... just feeling.
Her breath trembled.
She remembered nothing. But her head was pounding — a migraine that whispered the names of powers she'd never heard before.
Then it happened.
Psychic Outburst
A flicker of emotion. Confusion. Frustration.
A tear welled in her left eye — but didn't fall.
BOOM.
A wave of invisible force exploded outward from her body in a perfect sphere. Trees flattened in the blast radius. Loose stones lifted — then disintegrated mid-air.
Even gravity seemed to vanish for a moment. A bird, mid-flight nearby, suddenly stopped flapping — floating in place before tumbling through the sky.
Alex blinked.
Her voice was calm. But her hands trembled.
Alex (quietly):
"…That wasn't me trying."
Kinetic Grasp
She raised one finger toward a large boulder.
It lifted.
Then twisted.
Then folded inward like wet clay under invisible pressure.
She didn't move. Just stared.
Alex (thinking):
"Not telekinesis... compression. Precision. Intent."
She swept her hand.
A pine tree several meters away uprooted and launched into the sky, spinning like a javelin.
Overload Spike (Neural Jammer)
Next, she pointed her index and middle finger like a gun at a fallen log nearby — where a curious rabbit had emerged from the bush.
She didn't fire.
Alex (gently):
"Too much."
Instead, she turned to a chunk of steel left from one of Karl's discarded scrap droids.
She inhaled.
And exhaled.
ZAP.
Razor-thin bolts of blue psionic energy surged from her fingers — piercing the steel in 8 points.
A moment later, the machine locked up, then violently convulsed — and went dead.
Alex (calmly whispering):
"…Targeted paralysis. Limb isolation. Memory disruption... I could erase someone's identity."
She paused.
Then smirked.
Alex (darkly amused):
"I could make someone forget they ever hated me."
The winds returned slowly.
But the field around her looked like a disaster zone.
And Alex hadn't even tapped into her real emotions.
Scene: Alex's Deeper Dive
Location: A clearing near a reflective pond. The air was unmoving, and the water, perfectly still — like a glass surface untouched by time.
Alex stood at the edge.
She didn't speak. She only stared at her reflection.
Until her own voice echoed from within her thoughts.
NEW ABILITY: MENTAL LABYRINTH — [GUILT PRISM]
WARNING: TRAUMA RISK — HIGH
Her hand reached out — not toward the pond, but toward her reflection's eyes.
Alex (calmly):
"Let's see what you fear…"
She activated it — not on a target, but on a phantom mental projection she created. A test dummy.
A translucent version of herself manifested beside her… identical in every way, but with a slightly sadder expression.
She flicked her fingers.
Mental Labyrinth — Guilt Prism
The phantom Alex froze.
Its pupils dilated. Its breath shortened. It looked around wildly, as if lost in an invisible maze.
It began to mumble.
Phantom Alex:
"I didn't mean to— I didn't— please don't— stop—"
It collapsed, clutching its head. Still trapped in the loop. Still living some past mistake it could never undo.
Alex winced, feeling the mental echo of pain wash over her.
She flicked her hand again — breaking the illusion.
The phantom vanished in a shimmer of psychic dust.
Alex (quietly):
"Effective... but cruel."
NEXT ABILITY: LOGIC LOCK — [THOUGHT LOOP ANCHOR]
Alex turned toward a nearby bird perched on a tree branch.
She pointed her hand, eyes narrowing just slightly.
Alex:
"Fly."
The bird twitched — flapped once — then froze. Repeated the motion. Twitched again. But never moved.
Flap. Stop.
Flap. Stop.
Flap. Stop.
It was stuck.
Caught in a micro-loop of intent — unable to complete the command it was locked into.
Alex released it with a blink, and the bird shot upward, panicked and free.
Alex (thinking):
"A mind doesn't need chains. Just repetition."
Then the final one appeared.
ABILITY: OBLIVISYNC — MEMORY ERASURE
[LOCKED]
REQUIREMENT NOT MET
Her eyes widened.
She reached for it mentally — tried to touch the part of her consciousness where the memory-erasure power should have been waiting.
Nothing.
Alex (softly):
"…Why is it locked?"
The HUD didn't answer.
She felt a wall. Not one she couldn't climb — but one that wouldn't let her.
Even with all her precision — this one… was hidden even from her.
She sat by the pond.
Staring at her reflection again.
And this time, she didn't look like a god.
She looked like someone who wanted to forget something… but wasn't allowed to.
