Chapter 73 - Chapter 72- Finding new path

The children ran with excitement — they loved tasks that felt like secret missions.

Kael and Lila carried supplies.

Even Rynar, though baffled, joined in ("Are we inventing a weapon??" — "NO, Rynar.").

Charlisa instructed everyone to carve holes into the gourd shells, fill them with wax, and insert woven bark as wicks.

But her true idea was the rope.

She wrapped the rope around tall stakes at intervals along the main paths and hung the glowing gourds like floating golden orbs.

When the blue fog descended again the next morning —

the lanterns glowed brighter than usual, their light magnified by the dense air.

And something magical happened.

From above the fog, the ropes formed a thread of soft light that guided people like a glowing path.

Children squealed.

Elders clapped.

Hunters navigated easily.

Farmers reached their sheds without trouble.

Yelara placed her hands on Charlisa's shoulders.

"You did not chase the fog away," she said softly. "You learned to walk with it."

Charlisa's heart swelled — with pride, warmth, and the feeling of belonging again.

Charlisa finds herself again...

That afternoon, Kael found Charlisa standing by the halfway lantern, watching how the golden glow softened inside the blue fog.

He slipped his arms around her waist.

"You look lighter."

Charlisa nodded, eyes reflecting the lantern light.

"I think… I forgot for a moment that I'm more than a season's success or failure."

Kael kissed her temple. "You've always been more."

She leaned against him, breathing deeply, feeling her heart settle.

"I'm starting to feel like myself again."

Later, the villagers gathered as Yelara addressed them with her usual calm power.

"This winter gave us a fog we did not understand. And Charlisa gave us light to walk through it. Remember — the world will always bring new challenges. Not to break us… but to remind us that we are capable of new solutions."

Charlisa looked down, shy but smiling warmly.

"Whether we wait for spring, or the next autumn," Yelara added, "every season can prepare us… if we stay awake and willing."

Kael squeezed Charlisa's hand.

She squeezed back.

The valley went to sleep that night under a sky full of stars,

with lantern threads glowing softly through the fog —

and Charlisa's heart glowing brighter than both.
