Chapter 3 - Chapter 3_ When secrets smell like shampoo

*Loveth's POV*

The salon buzzed with its usual chaos—blow dryers, chatter, and the faint scent of coconut oil—but none of it could drown out the echo of Ethan's quiet confidence.

Miracle was nowhere in sight, a blessing I didn't take for granted.

I was setting up my station when my phone vibrated. An unknown number.

*"You handled him well yesterday."*

I blinked. Who was this? My heart skipped a beat—not with excitement, but suspicion.

Was someone watching me? Was this some kind of game?

Before I could reply, the salon door jingled. Ethan walked in like he owned the space—not arrogant, just assured.

He handed me a small white envelope without a word.

I opened it slowly. Inside was a ticket to *"A Night of Flawless Faces"* — a gala for stylists and beauty insiders. The kind of event I'd never think to attend… until now.

My mind raced: Was it a thank you? An invitation? A trap?

I stuffed the ticket in my apron and plastered on a smile.

"Business as usual," I told myself.

But inside, I was anything but calm.

*Ethan's POV*

I watched her from the corner, every move sharp and effortless—like she was born to tame chaos with a flick of her wrist.

Loveth wasn't just good with hair. She was good at hiding her emotions beneath calm layers, like a masterpiece painted over scars.

I'd come to the salon that day expecting to find my sister and maybe some noise. Instead, I found her—quiet but dangerous.

She needed to see this gala. Needed to step out of her comfort zone, even if she didn't know it yet.

I slipped the ticket into her hand as a silent message:

*There's more to life than this salon.*

Her eyes betrayed confusion, maybe suspicion. Good. She needed to question it all.

Maybe then she'd see the truth about me—and what I'm willing to risk.
