Vegeta knew very clearly that the reason he was able to change all of this in their own universe was entirely because of Trunks.
Without him, their timeline would have also become just like this one. Because of this tragic parallel timeline, Vegeta was even more certain of Trunks' resolve and the truth that he could hear in Trunks' thoughts.
Trunks muttered inwardly: (What does that look in Dad's eyes mean…?)
Vegeta picked up on this thought and realized that his expression had been a little off and was seen by his son.
He shook his head slightly and quickly shifted the subject.
"All right, then. This trouble is dealt with. Now, how are we supposed to get back to our universe?"
Vegeta asked knowingly because he had learned everything while inside Gogeta's body.
His gaze shifted toward Future Bulma, and he suddenly noticed that this timeline's Bulma looked older, with her beauty faded.
Compared to his Bulma, who was still youthful and radiant, this one looked tired of everything. This only strengthened his determination to protect those he cared about.
Only by becoming stronger could he prevent such tragedies from happening again.
Vegeta's eyes lingered on Future Bulma. Under normal circumstances, this kind of scene would be awkward, to say the least.
After all, the man before her looked exactly like her deceased husband.
But she was different.
Her heart was perfectly clear, and she had no illusions about anything. She knew that the Vegeta in her memories had died long ago.
Her longing had become like the wind, scattered across the river of time. Nevertheless, encountering another Vegeta with an entirely different personality was strange and rare.
Future Bulma smiled slightly. "I've already prepared the time machine."
With that, she tossed out a capsule.
Bang!
The time machine instantly appeared and landed on the ground.
But this one was larger than they remembered.
"Since there are more of you, I upgraded it. It can now hold up to five people at once." Future Bulma spoke as she stood with her hands on her hips, quite pleased with her handiwork.
"Mhm! As expected of Mom! This is amazing" Bulla exclaimed, full of admiration for Future Bulma.
"One, two, three, four, five— perfectly five people!" Bulla counted those around her.
But then she paused, shook her head, and frowned.
"No, wait...we forgot about Buu. That makes six." Bulla slumped over, looking a little disappointed.
Gohan suggested, "I think it should be fine with six people, right? Cramming in a few more people shouldn't be a problem, should it, Bulma Oba San?" He looked at Future Bulma as he spoke.
Gohan's guess was correct. Future Bulma nodded. "Yes, it's no problem. Overloading by one won't cause any issues."
Trunks fully agreed with this explanation. After all, the rules of the time machine had already been adjusted in the original story.
Originally, Cell had to turn into a cocoon because his body was too big for travel.
In Dragon Ball Super, a time machine designed for two people ended up carrying four.
So, this reasoning wasn't wrong at all.
However, Trunks had another idea in mind.
His gaze shifted toward the unconscious Super Broly lying nearby. He wanted to bring him back with them, too.
After all, unlike his brother, who was born evil to the core, this one still had a chance at redemption. On top of that, his growth rate was practically monstrous. Not taking him back would be a waste.
However, with his enormous size, he practically equaled two people.
Bringing him back would definitely be troublesome.
Unless, of course, they stuffed him inside Majin Buu's belly.
However, Majin Buu was currently asleep. If he were awake, he could swallow any number of people without issue.
As things stood, bringing Super Broly back would be difficult.
Still, he was someone they had to take with them, so Trunks decided to at least try to argue for it.
"That..." Trunks started to speak, but another voice cut him off.
"Wait a minute! Everyone, I think there's one more person who has to come back with us!"
The speaker was none other than Son Goku.
Trunks glanced at Goku and immediately knew what he was about to say. He could bet that Goku was thinking the same thing he was.
And sure enough, Goku raised his voice with his proposal: "I think we should bring Broly with us! He's from our timeline, after all, and he's dangerous. If we leave him here, he'll definitely become a threat to this world!"
Goku's righteous tone almost made Trunks believe he was serious.
"Hmph, Kakarot, don't think I don't know what you're really plotting!" Vegeta snapped, not giving Goku's words any consideration. "You just want to fight him again!"
Goku grinned sheepishly and scratched his head before speaking. "Heh heh, Vegeta, you saw right through me. But this Broly isn't like his brother. I didn't sense any evil in his Ki in him. I think he could become a good ally for us. You saw for yourself how strong he is. He is a worthy opponent."
Vegeta sneered as he spoke. "Tch. Sooner or later, I'll surpass him anyway."
"But with his huge body, he practically takes up the space of three people. There's no way he'll fit inside the time machine. So what do we do about that?"
Vegeta's words hit the heart of the problem, and the air suddenly went still.
For ten long seconds, no one said a word.
Finally, Future Bulma broke the silence. "How about this? I could modify it again. I'd need about two days to expand its capacity."
Everyone turned to her with admiration at her words.
But the next moment, Goku's expression turned serious.
"There's no time. We have to go back immediately. Before we got pulled into this time rift, I clearly remember there being a huge problem back on Earth. Frieza is still there!"
As soon as he said that, Vegeta's focus sharpened instantly. He had almost forgotten about that.
If Frieza had been resurrected then he would certainly act with Goku and him missing from the world. With all their strength trapped in this timeline, their own Earth would be defenseless.
"We need to get back at once, Kakarot!" Vegeta's voice was urgent.
"But the time machine can't hold this many people!" Bulla stomped her foot; anxiety was written all over her face.
Just when everyone was at a loss, Trunks stepped forward.
"It's simple. I have an idea..."
Vegeta turned to him, incredulous. "What idea, Trunks?!"
Trunks continued, "Dad, it might be a bit of a hassle for you. But the solution is for you and Goku Oji San to merge once again. As for me, I can merge with Gohan."
