Quin stayed few more hours at the library after Vorden left, then he got tired too after reading a lot and gaining nothing of importance.
Night had settled over the academy, and with an early morning ahead, most students had already retreated to their dorms. But for Quinn, he had other plans.
He made his way to the academy's training hall, a massive dome-shaped structure with a wide open floor at its center. Along the curved walls, rows of advanced training machines gleamed under the overhead lights.
Towering mech suits stood on standby, shooting targets lined one section, and there were even strange devices whose purpose Quinn couldn't begin to guess. But what drew his attention the most was the familiar power-level testing station—the very same kind they'd used during the ability assessment earlier.
As he stepped inside, Quinn found the place just as he'd hoped—completely deserted.
he went to one of the raised platforms and stood there as if waiting for someone.
Layla, a tall figure with short brown hair had also come to the training room late at night and before Quinn had entered, she was a level 2 user but felt that her test was not so fair so she had been testing out her bow and arrow skills, practicing. She always practiced at night when she was nervous and she couldn't help but worry about tomorrow.
That was when she suddenly heard the doors open to the training room, being her shy usual self, she immediately hid behind one of the giant robots. Suddenly she saw the student walk over to her direction then she noticed that he just stood there.
Who is this guy? Layla thought, narrowing her eyes. She'd never seen him before. Why did you have to come here of all places? All I wanted was a quiet spot to train, and now you're standing there, getting in the way.
Her annoyance only deepened when another figure approached—a blonde girl. Layla arched a brow. What are they even doing here this late? Don't tell me they're already a thing on the first day…
"So why did you call me here?" Vicky asked loudly, striding up to the boy.
"I want to spar with you," Quinn said without hesitation.
"Oh? Someone's feeling eager." Vicky smirked. "What's the matter—looking for revenge?"
"Don't you remember what you told me? That when humans are pushed to their limits, that's when they grow the most? Well… don't you want to help me figure out what my ability is? After all its also your responsibility that I can use my ability, so faster the better isn't it? "
"So you're trying to impress my grandfather, huh? Fine then—let's fight. I'll be happy to beat your ass again."
Quinn lunged forward with startling speed, aiming a strike at her shoulder. Vicky blocked it with ease, but Quinn followed with a flurry of sharp kicks.
"So, you dare use my own moves against me?" she taunted. Matching his kicks with double the force, she suddenly spun into a roundhouse that clipped his guard. Before Quinn could recover, two quick punches slammed into his unprotected abdomen, followed by a brutal axe kick that sent him crashing to the floor.
He groaned in pain, struggling to get back up.
From the sidelines, Layla watched in silence. Damn she is really wiping him to the floor, What a strange pair… she thought. But that blonde girl—she's powerful. I wonder how Erin would do against someone like her.

Quin found himself at the doctors room, after that surprisingly short fight and now Dr. Hayley was tending to his wounds, "I can't believe you really got beaten like a pulp on the first day.".
"oh, you don't have to worry ma'am I was just having a spar", Quin spoke with a weak smile.
