"Ughhhhhh—why do I have to get up this early?!"
Looking at the breakfast already laid out, Remilia looked drained.
Flandre, on the other hand, was brimming with energy as if she weren't affected at all.
Not surprising. While Remilia followed the standard vampire sleep cycle, Flandre was unpredictable. She could be nocturnal or energetic in the morning—it didn't matter.
She was especially lively after seeing her sister pranked by Ren.
Remilia sat down, yawning as she blinked sleepily.
"I'm a vampire… Why must I wake early, eat three meals a day, and follow such a routine?"
Even as she complained, her hand instinctively reached for the plate.
Chew… chew…
Noticing something off, Remilia frowned slightly. As her vision cleared, she looked down at her hand.
Only then did she realize… she was holding a sandwich!
"Oh, it's a sandwich. I thought it was cake…"
"Cake for breakfast?"
"We eat cake three times a day at the Scarlet Devil Mansion… well, sometimes Sakuya makes other stuff, but my favorite is still tea and cake."
Remilia said this proudly but didn't reject the sandwich.
Still, the unfamiliar flavor reminded her—this wasn't the mansion anymore. She was in a different world.
Speaking of which… she still hadn't asked about that pet-raising mission. She should do that later.
As she thought that, she glanced at Ren.
"Oh? You like black tea too?"
Natsuki raised an eyebrow, a little surprised.
Despite her appearance, Natsuki had an odd obsession with black tea.
Didn't expect a vampire to share that passion.
"Of course. Sakuya's tea is the best—especially when she adds Type B blood."
Remilia's face beamed with pride at the mention of her maid.
"Adding blood? Seriously… You like adding blood to your tea?"
"That's right! Type B blood is the best! Oh, by the way, what are your blood types?"
Remilia narrowed her eyes with interest as she looked at the two people in front of her.
In unison, Ren and Natsuki turned their heads away. Neither of them had any desire to be fed on by a vampire.
"Not B type, that's for sure."
"Don't even think about drinking my blood—unless you want to taste my light power."
Compared to Natsuki's cold rejection, Ren brought out his power directly, causing Remilia's expression to freeze slightly.
Tsk... such a stingy man!
"Back to the point, this Sakuya you mentioned earlier—she's your sister or something?"
"Nope, she's the perfect and elegant head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. She takes care of everything from cleaning to cooking to handling disturbances. She's my most trusted aide!"
That wasn't an exaggeration. Without Sakuya, Remilia's life would probably be in chaos.
Just like earlier—if Ren hadn't woken Remilia up, she would've slept well into the night.
"Is she a vampire too?"
"No... Sakuya is human, and she'll always be human."
Remilia's tone grew heavier.
It wasn't like she hadn't offered to turn Sakuya into her kin, but Sakuya clearly wasn't willing to give up her humanity.
Natsuki was surprised. It wasn't unusual for humans to serve vampires, but for this vampire to rely on her maid so much… And perhaps Remilia didn't even realize it, but when she mentioned Sakuya, her lips curled slightly with pride.
"That's a pretty rare combination."
"That's nothing. We also have a witch at the mansion—my close friend Patchy. Different magical systems or not, you two probably have a lot in common. Also, the crystals on Flandre's wings were made by Patchy. Thanks to those, she hasn't lost control for decades."
Apparently, Patchouli was over a hundred years old. Remilia had only met her a few decades ago.
"Vampires, human maids, witches… your world is really something else," Natsuki muttered with an odd look.
While they chatted, Ren was already feeding Flandre. No one noticed when that had started.
Once Remilia noticed, her face twisted with displeasure.
Ever since meeting Ren, she hadn't had a moment of peace.
He had recorded her embarrassing sleeping posture, even tossed garlic at her for fun, which her sister had now started imitating. He roughly woke her up that morning and took photos too... Never in her life had she been so humiliated!
"You, over there! Put down my sister—let me do it!" Remilia declared, pointing at Ren.
"Huh? But Flandre wants me to feed her, right?"
Ren gave her a playful wink.
"Nonsense! She just met you, she should prefer her big sister!"
But Flandre, catching Ren's signal, dove into his arms and eagerly accepted his feeding.
"Hehe... I prefer big brother feeding me. Sister's too busy acting dignified to spend time with me. I don't like her feeding me."
Pew pew pew—those words stabbed straight into Remilia's heart, and her whole body seemed to go gray.
Ren, being kind for once, forked up a piece of meat and offered it to her.
"Here—ah~"
"Wait—what do you think you're doing!?"
Remilia flushed with embarrassment and fury.
"I'm the dignified master of the Scarlet Devil Mansion! I don't need your feeding!"
"But the Mansion's not here. Right now, I'm the master and you're the pet. Pets should obediently accept being fed."
"Who are you calling a pet, you human—"
"Look at Flandre. If you won't eat, I'll give it to her."
"Hehe~ I'll eat sister's share too!"
"Wait! That's mine!" Remilia panicked and quickly gobbled it down.
Realizing what she just did, her face turned bright red.
Without a word, Ren scooped her up into his arms as well.
Watching this chaotic feeding scene, Natsuki couldn't help but smile.
"Noisy... but not bad."
At least this brought a bit of warmth to the dull room.
Pet… huh?
She glanced at Ren, her thoughts drifting.
A familiar silhouette floated through her mind.
