Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 – Two important people.

POV: Frieren

Ten days have passed since Ares' death.

I spent all that time training, and here's my current status:

Name: Frieren

Cultivation: 2nd Magic Circle – First Layer (Conversion Bonus +110%)

Magic Proficiency: 32,234 / 102,400

Mana: 35,467 / 102,400

Collected Elements: 0

Talent: Rapid Conversion (+10% Conversion Speed)

My magical proficiency is still far from what's needed to reach the next layer.

"I need to increase my conversion speed. Is there a way to strengthen my talent?"

The bonus from my talent is only 10%. I really want to improve that.

"Maybe the talent evolves as I progress through the layers…"

No, that's not it.

Each time I reach a new layer, the +110% bonus tied to my cultivation increases, but the talent itself hasn't changed even once.

"Maybe the tree can help me with that."

The tree has been gaining new abilities as I level it up—maybe it'll gain one that helps me convert Primordial Elements faster. I need to level it up again.

I approached the tree and used 30,000 mana points.

The tree's EXP increased by 60,000, but that wasn't enough to level it up.

Current EXP: 60,000 / 128,000

I'll need another ten days of training to raise its level. How exhausting.

Then, the tree's door opened.

"You finally decided to take a break?"

"Yes, just for a day. So, did Ryuu bring any useful information from Orario?"

"No, unfortunately not. Apparently, Ares' death had a much smaller impact than we expected. People talked about it for a few days, but they're already starting to forget."

"Really? That's normal these days? In the past, the death of a god was a serious matter."

"I'm surprised too. It's been years since the last god died, so I was expecting a stronger reaction from people—and the other gods."

"Hmm… I suppose that makes sense. Even back then, Ares was never a god people admired. He was an idiot."

"But you didn't have much contact with him, my queen."

"I met him once, back when Rakia was still being built. I helped him with the city walls. Even then, I realized he was an idiot."

"Had I been born by then? I don't remember that."

"I think so. But it was a very quick job—I don't recall ever talking to anyone about it."

"I see."

"Let's stop talking about him, shall we? He won't be showing up again anytime soon."

"Do you think they'll allow him to return to the mortal world?"

"I don't know how long it'll take, but I believe he'll come back eventually. But by then, I'll have taken care of all the problems in this world."

Eleven more days passed.

Here's my current status:

Name: Frieren

Cultivation: 2nd Magic Circle – First Layer (Conversion Bonus +110%)

Magic Proficiency: 54,234 / 102,400

Mana: 38,217 / 102,400

Collected Elements: 0

Talent: Rapid Conversion (+10% Conversion Speed)

"I have enough mana to level up the tree again."

I descended the stairs and approached the tree. I placed my hand on it, and its status appeared before my eyes.

I had to spend 34,000 mana points to level up the tree once more.

After it leveled up and I checked its stats, my lips curled into a smile.

[World Tree]

Max Primordial Element: 4,000

Conversion Bonus – 50%

The generation of Primordial Elements is much better now. The abilities have also become stronger.

But what stood out the most was the last line in the status.

[Conversion Bonus – 50%]

Just as I suspected, I can improve my conversion speed by leveling up the tree.

My "training" is going to become much more efficient now!

Humming softly, I left the tree. As I stepped away, I ran into Serie, who was walking up carrying a basket with bread and some fruit. She had baked the bread herself, using ingredients Ryuu brought from the city.

Serie learned to cook while I was asleep. In the past, she had never even touched a cooking pot.

Now she's become quite a skilled cook.

However, my subconscious can detect every issue in her dishes. The person named Isaac has a very refined palate—he could distinguish between a good dish and a great one.

And I've inherited those skills.

I never cooked before either, but I'm sure I could prepare high-quality meals if I tried.

That man… what he's feeling?

Is his consciousness trapped deep within mine? Is he trying to break free and take control of my body?

I can't reach him. But I wish I could.

I want to know more about him. I want to understand who he was before he ended up inside me.

I want to know how it happened.

Was it a god from this world—or a god from the world Isaac came from?

If I search deep within my consciousness, I can see images from his world.

But most of them are blurry, as if slowly fading away.

Only two images remain clear.

A beautiful human woman and a newborn human child.

Those two images are vivid—I can see them clearly.

They must be very important people to that man.
