Seeing the scene before him, Michael's mind was in chaos.
He was absolutely certain that after Su Mo had rejected his prayer, the response from the Christian mythos itself had been instantly cut off. Previously, he had thought the spiritual aura Su Mo was emitting was the temptation of the devil. Now it seemed that the original divinity on Su Mo was indeed the Lord's divinity.
In other words, the Lord had really been resurrected, and it was the person before him?
"Impossible! This is absolutely impossible!"
Michael could not accept this possibility.
In Christianity, God was the Trinity of the Holy Father, the Holy Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Son of God and the Lord should have the same identity, just manifested in different forms. If the person before him was really the Lord, and the mission the Son of God had given him was to eliminate the Lord, then whose orders should he follow?
And before this, he had already drawn his sword against the Su Mo before him. If the other party was really the Lord, then hadn't he become a heretic?
"W-who are you?!"
Michael took a step back and questioned with a trembling voice.
"Are you questioning the Lord? Questioning the faith you swore to protect with your life?"
Su Mo asked back.
"No, I'm not, I didn't..."
Michael shook his head in a panic. In Christianity, to have one's faith itself questioned was a serious accusation worthy of disembowelment to prove one's innocence.
But halfway through his explanation, he suddenly realized. "If you are really the Lord, why did you only know now that the Lord is gone? If you are really the Lord, why did you only come to impersonate the Lord's divinity later?"
He had been overwhelmed by the shocking facts before and had not had time to think. Now he had suddenly discovered a loophole.
One second he had just confirmed that the Lord was gone, and the next second he was pretending to be the Lord. Even if he wanted to deceive people, this was a bit too half-hearted.
For this question, Su Mo gave his usual patient answer. "Strictly speaking, I am not the Lord you believe in, but I can become the Lord you believe in. Of course, I can also become any god who has not yet descended in any myth."
"I am the poet who records myths. Any god can become my incarnation, and when I use the titles in these myths, no one can question me as a counterfeit."
"To question me is to question the myth itself."
An existence of a higher dimension than gods could naturally become a god at any time. This was by no means a counterfeit. On the contrary, it was a downward projection of some supreme existence.
"..."
Michael was silent for a moment. Although he could not fully understand Su Mo's words, he could feel that Su Mo's attitude was by no means false. In fact, he might not even care about the identity of the Lord, and was just using it casually.
Do I really have to believe in such a Lord? Do I really have to acknowledge such a Lord?
In the end, what was the Lord? Was it the one who possessed the Lord's divinity, or the Son of God who was the Trinity with the Lord?
As his thoughts were in turmoil, he involuntarily placed his palm on his chest and began to pray incessantly. "...cursed be the man before the LORD that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it."
"...whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold! And Lamech... seventy and sevenfold!"
All kinds of blessings and curses were chanted with the spiritual rank of an archangel.
On a normal day, with the Lord's response, Michael could borrow his own divinity to complete almost all the miracles mentioned in the Bible. In battle, the Lord's grace had always been an important force for him to be at ease and become the Vice-Regent of Heaven.
But now, the more he prayed, the paler his face became. Even if the Lord was not there, the myth itself should have responded spontaneously. But now, no matter how he prayed, his God showed no sign of responding to him. The halo above his head gradually dimmed. Michael did not give up and continued to try.
Beams of divine light appeared, and the divine arts involving the Son of God responded to him, but his face became even paler because of this. In the end, his expression was close to despair.
Ignoring Su Mo's threat, this archangel knelt directly on the ground, looked up at the sky, his voice trembling slightly.
"O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent."
"But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel!"
This was his final prayer, his final attempt.
Evidently, God still did not respond.
Michael's expression was sorrowful, but Su Mo's expression was unusually calm.
"A reminder, only the Lord of the Old Testament is the god of those Israelites. The Son of God of the New Testament has already spread the gospel throughout the world."
"And by the way, isn't the reason I forsook you very simple? It's simply because you can't recognize the facts, you're blind."
Shielding the response to Michael with the original divinity of God was a casual matter for Su Mo. Of course, this method could only be used on angels or saints. The Son of God's rank was no less than God's, the two were not superiors and subordinates. In Little Garden, the Son of God even had the advantage, and the interference in mythological history could not yet affect the Full Authority Domain.
But for an angel, a believer, the blow of being abandoned by God seemed a bit too great.
"I don't know what means you used to achieve this, but now, having occupied such an advantage, you still want to defile my faith?"
After a long time, Michael struggled to stand up. The expression he looked at Su Mo with was pale, but flames burned in his eyes.
"If you just want to shake my faith, I can't deny that you've succeeded. I really can't tell who you are now."
"But if you, if you are really the Lord, then why did you show so many flaws, why did you test me like this?"
"You can't even stand this level of testing?"
Faced with this seemingly tragic look, Su Mo's attitude remained calm.
"Compared to the sacrifice of Isaac, compared to demanding a son as a burnt offering, the test you've experienced is not the strictest... of course, the main reason is that the style of your so-called Lord is too much like an evil god, which doesn't quite match my personal style."
If he had really followed the requirements of Christianity, Michael should have knelt down and submitted the moment he saw the divinity he displayed. However, conflicts between myths and doctrines were also common. If this set of rules were strictly implemented in the polytheistic world of Little Garden, a god-king who was good at disguise could play Christianity to death, so Su Mo did not intend to be harsh on this.
"...What do you mean?"
Hearing the first half of Su Mo's words, Michael's expression was a bit ashamed. In comparison, his piety was indeed inferior to Isaac's. Although he could use the excuse that he was an archangel and had more things to consider, according to the requirements of Christianity for faith, these excuses were meaningless.
And hearing the second half of the sentence, Michael was slightly taken aback.
Su Mo said "your so-called Lord." Is he no longer calling himself the Lord?
"What I mean is, the role-playing game ends here!"
Su Mo raised his hand slightly and summoned seven swords of different natures.
Damascus blades, wakizashi, Tang swords, tachi... dark golden swords of varying lengths floated in the air, revolving around Su Mo. Each sword contained a very unique aura.
From these swords, Michael felt a very obvious Christian cosmology. This set of swords, just like his Light of the Divine Right, was ed with the Christian Cosmic Truth. In fact, compared to the counterfeit product that was the Light of the Divine Right, the Cosmic Truth before him was a concept that was closer to the underlying cosmology of Christianity.
Although he was not primarily responsible for judgment, for him, who possessed the authority of judgment and had experience fighting demons and fallen angels, those were the most familiar auras.
"The Seven Deadly Sins?"
"That's right!"
Su Mo nodded.
"Instead of using your Christian brainwashing and debate methods to recruit a fanatic as a spy, it's more convenient to just create a new angel."
As he spoke, he commanded the mythological ritual named the Seven Deadly Sins, and aimed the blades of the swords at the archangel before him.
"Starting today, you'll be replaced by the third generation!"
