Ring, ring
The phone that Michelle had almost forgotten existed rang.
She stired, and before anyone woke, picked it up without seeing the caller ID.
"Who was that?" Came Rodriguez's voice.
"Alfa!" Michelle replied, making Rodriguez sit up straight.
He saw the time. Two in the morning. "This late? What did he say?"
Michelle looked at him, her expression worried. "He wants to abort the mission. I have told him that I'm very close to getting Arya back to him and asked for a few more days."
There was a stretch of silence. Rodriguez knew what aborting the mission meant for Michelle. He couldn't lose her after getting her back.
"Let's try to get some sleep, and we'll talk to Arya about this call in the morning. She'll think of something," the rogue Alpha said to his luna.
They lay back down, hugging each other, and Michelle felt a sense of calm wash over her. Her fears slowly dissolved into nothingness, and her heart came to its normal rhythm.
