Chapter 70 - What's going on?

"Arya?" A voice reached her ears, but she couldn't recognize who the voice belonged to.

"Arya, where are you?"

"I'm here!" She called back, but where was 'here'?

Arya looked around, first in confusion, then fear. Where the hell was she?

She felt groggy, almost like she had a hangover. Her brain couldn't focus, and she couldn't even feel her own body. She felt like she was paralyzed.

"Arya?" The voice became louder. Whoever it was was getting closer.

"Here!" She managed to say, hoping that whoever was calling out was a friend.

Her eyes felt heavy, and soon, she was surrounded by darkness.

"Arya? Arya?" The voice sounded far away.

"What happened to her?" Asked a male voice.

"I don't know. Could be stressed or sleep walking.." said a female voice.

Arya groaned. Her head felt like someone had hit it with a hammer.

The conversation immediately stopped, and Arya felt a hand touch her head. "Arya, are you alright?"

Arya slowly opened her eyes to see who it was. Alfa was standing by her bed, his hand gently stroking her hair.

"Alpha, I need to check her vitals. I need you to step outside," Dr Gretchen said.

"Gretchen, she's my mate."

"Alpha, I understand, but I need to check up on her."

Alfa hesitated but walked out, giving them some privacy. He would be able to hear what they talk about anyway.

"Luna, how are you feeling?" The doctor asked while turning the blood pressure machine on after setting it on her arm.

"I feel like someone hit me with a sledgehammer. My head is breaking apart," Arya replied.

"Don't worry. I'll give you some pain meds, and it'll go away in no time."

Dr Gretchen wrote down the reading on a folder, shaking her head.

"The pressure is high. Luna, where were you?"

The question caught Arya off guard. What did she even mean by that?

"What do you mean?" Arya asked.

There was silence, then Gretchen asked, "Luna, I know this is personal, but are you okay? I mean, really okay?"

"Yes, why?"

Arya felt uneasy. Why would a doctor ask her something like this? These kinds of questions were only asked if a patient showed signs of abuse, and Arya was sure she didn't have any marks on her body that could be a sign of abuse.

"Luna, you were gone for two weeks. We all thought that you were either killed or you left our Alpha."

Arya couldn't say anything. She was absolutely horrified to learn this. Was she missing for two weeks? But she doesn't even remember going anywhere.

"What is the last thing you remember?" Gretchen asked, sensing her trouble look of confusion.

She thought long and hard. "Alfa and I were talking about Bella, my wolf... I... I... I felt angry that he made a decision about her without asking me... then... I don't know... I went to sleep? Then now! I woke up here."

"So, you don't remember anything in between?"

Arya shook her head negatively.

"Hhmmm," Gretchen hummed in understanding as she wrote something in the folder.

"Luna, have you been taking any medication lately?" She asked, looking at Arya.

"No. I haven't taken any meds for a while now."

Another hum.

"And have you been stressed lately?"

Now, the questions were getting on Arya's nerves. It wouldn't take a genius to figure that part out.

Her wolf was taken... more like put to sleep without her permission. She didn't even know if she could ever wake her up or not. Of course, she was stressed. But what does this have to do with the missing days of her life?

"I don't see your point, doc! Why are you asking me all this?" Arya asked, unable to hide her anger.

"I'm sorry, luna, but this will help me determine what happened to you," Gretchen said, clearly not expecting Arya to lash out.

"Yes. Yes, I have been stressed. Why don't you ask your Alpha what he did to my wolf instead of interrogating me like I'm some sort of criminal."

"I'm sorry, Luna!" Dr Gretchen, apologize before leaving the room.

Arya instantly felt a sting of guilt in her heart. She was angry at Alfa but took it out on an innocent person who was clearly trying to do her job.

Arya focused on getting some sleep, as the medication that Gretchen gave her clearly worked its magic.

As she felt sleep reaching out to her, someone came in. She didn't need super hearing or good nose to know who it was.

"What do you want?" She asked, without looking at him.

"Where have you been?" Alfa asked, his voice sounded exhausted.

"I don't know! I really don't know. Now, please leave me alone," Arya replied.

"Is it because of the thing we discussed earlier?"

"What thing? We discussed a lot of things!" Arya said, turning to face him.

"The part where you go into heat?" Alfa said, reluctantly.

Hearing that, Arya actually frowned. "Me going into heat?" She questioned. "Since when do humans go into heat?" She slowly got up.

"I'm practically a human. You did this to me, and now it's my fault for not getting into heat?"

Alfa saw the same look in Arya's eyes. The same look he couldn't decipher.

The same look she gave him before disappearing completely for two weeks.

"I'm sorry, Arya. I didn't mean to upset you..."

A laugh escaped her throat. "Upset me? No, you didn't upset me! You made me furious. Alfa Flowerew, you will regret this!"

Alfa's eyes widened in horror. Not at the threat, but at her eyes. They were black.

Never had Alfa seen a wolf or a human possess black eyes before.

Black eyes only belonged to demons and witches. Dark witches. But Arya smelled like neither of these.

"You thought you could take away her wolf and render her useless, but I will not let you do that. You were the one to introduce her to her wolf, and now, you take her wolf back! I will help her get her wolf back, whether you like it or not!" This was Arya's body, but the voice was more guttural. And she was talking like someone else was talking for her.

Was she possessed? If so, by who?

Arya's laughter filled the room. Alfa just stared at her, unable to form words.

He didn't know the person in front of him. She was definitely not Arya, his mate. His love.

She was something entirely different.

There were more questions than answers.

Who was she?

Why did she come here?

What did she want?

Where was Arya?
