"So you're telling me that Valac Umbros is a demon and Natalie's mate. Therefore, you invited him to our territory?" Kane asked again.
"Yes, dad," Alfa said.
"Do you even hear yourself? You allowed a demon into our territory!"
"Dad..."
"And do you think Kimberly will welcome him with open arms? Son, she would rather kill herself than accept a demon as her son in law!"
"How do you know that, K?" Genevieve asked. She made no effort in hiding her jealousy.
"That doesn't matter..."
"Yes, it does!"
"Mom..."
"Gene, sweetheart. Kimberly grew up in this pack. I know her."
"I believe you," Genevieve said sarcastically.
"Please, mom, dad, try to understand me!" Alfa stood up.
They had come into Kane's room after leaving Arya and her family alone to talk in the sitting room.
"Flower, I agree with your father. No one will willingly let their daughter marry a demon. They're dangerous creatures," Genevieve said.
"I don't know if what I did was right or wrong, but I had no choice. He is a demon. He could have destroyed this pack without being detected, and we wouldn't even be able to fight him. I had to allow him in!" Alfa said in his defense.
Both Kane and Genevieve became quiet. They knew he was right. Demons were non forgiving, and if Valac felt that they were keeping him from his mate, he would have attacked.
As per Arya's request, Valac stepped outside of the room they called the sitting room.
A few she wolves fled at the sight of him, but he didn't mind. He loved it when everyone feared him.
One of his favorite things to do was go around the world in his Astral form. He could go anywhere, at any time, without being detected.
Today was different. A wonderful smell drifted into the air. The smell of cotton soaked in fresh blood and poison... he couldn't resist it, so he followed it.
There stood a wolf talking to a human... a human that was the most beautiful creature he had laid eyes on.
"Mate," the words slipped out of his mouth before he processed what he was doing.
To his surprise, the wolf with blue eyes turned and started searching for him, but the human could actually see him.
"Oh, hey," she said.
"Natalie....."
So her name was Natalie. The wolf, Arya, was saying more, but Valac was already thinking of what he would call her. Nata... Lie.... maybe he can choose a totally different name, like...
"Who's there?" The authority in which the wolf spoke was high. She was some upper ranked wolf. "And why can't I see you?"
He didn't want to answer, but his mate's eyes also asked the same question. She was also curious to know.
"I'm Valac Umbros, son of King Valgoth Umbros, prince of the kingdom of Heavwar." He replied, staring at his mate.
He saw her smile and blush. She is the first being who didn't cower in fear from him. He turned to look at the wolf. "The reason you can not see me is because I'm in my Astral form."
"Wait, you really can't see him?" Natalie asked, turning to Arya. "So how can I see you?" She questioned, turning to stare at Valac.
"Because you're my mate," Valac told her. She seemed surprised.
"Wait, Valac Umbros. I'm Arya Hunter Flowerew, luna of this pack. She is my sister. How do I know you're not lying?" The wolf said. He didn't know why she kept disturbing them.
He decided to let his presence be known, so Valac went to her and touched her gently.
All the while, he saw she hadn't removed her eyes from his mate. So she wanted to see if Natalie really could see him.
Now she believes him, she admitted so herself. Soon, Valac felt a powerful presence. "Who are you talking to?" The wolf asked.
"Alpha, there's a demon present on our territory!" Another wolf said, running towards them. "Some guards mentioned seeing a black shadow come this way."
So this is the Alpha. No wonder he radiaded power.
"That's impossible. The demon kingdom and the wolf packs have always maintained peace. They don't bother us. We don't bother them. That's the rule," Alfa said, surprised.
"And do demons have mates like us?" Arya asked Alfa.
"Well, I don't know much about them, but yes, they can have mates," Alfa replied.
"I mean from other species, like us?"
"Yes, they can, as long as their mate says yes!"
"Well, Mr Valac Umbros, I just got my answer. But I can't trust someone I can't see," Arya said.
"I can physically come anytime you want me to. Alpha Flowerew, I request that you allow me to physically enter your territory!"
"Who are you? And where are you?" Alfa asked, shocked.
"I..." Valac tried to answer when the luna decided to jump in. "Alfa, give him permission, and while he comes, I will explain everything," Arya said quickly.
After Alpha Flowerew gave him permission, Valac immediately appeared in his physical form, right there in front of them.
They all looked shocked, but not more than the luna. It appears she thought that Valac would travel and then reach there after some time, but he just appeared.
Valac kept staring at his human mate. She was the most beautiful being he had ever seen.
"....brother..." Arya was saying something, but Valac heard just one word.
He looked up and saw a boy, who looked somewhat alike to his mate, staring at them.
Natalie stood there as valac moved closer, with caution, so as not to scare her away, and she touched his face. "Mate," he said, unable to keep it in him.
It was as if the word echoed as Valac heard the others say it, some with shock, some questioning, and some explaining.
"...Valac,... talk... inside," Natalie's sister was saying something, but he was too absorbed in his own world, to hear all of her talk. He caught the important parts of the conversation.
Valac followed his mate inside. He didn't like it a bit, as everything was different from his home. There was too much light, and it smelled too... like flowers in bloom. Who likes this kind of smell?
Sitting in the room were the Alpha and Luna, the brother, and four other older people.
Two of them looked like Natalie, the man had the same brown eyes, while the woman had the same blond hair. This must be his mate's parents.
"Everyone, this is Valac Umbros. He is a demon." Alfa began. Everyone gasped. "Arya, I think you should talk to them alone," saying so, Alfa gestured for his parents to follow him outside.
"Arya, what's going on?" Kimberly asked.
"Valac, can you please wait outside," Arya said, and Valac nodded, then walked out the door. He was disappointed that they didn't even introduce themselves.
"Natalie?" Arya said, clearly suggesting her to say it.
"Mom, dad, Valac is ... my.... uh... my... "
That's all he heard, as the door closed behind him.
He grew a little anxious, as he felt his mate's stress. Humans always thought of demons as monsters; and yes, they were, but they were capable of love.
His only hope was that these humans agree to let him take his mate home.
