Looking at the confident, skinny bald man in front of him, who showed no fear of him or Jessica, Ron found himself amused.
Based on the skinny bald man's previous actions and what Norman Osborn had told him that day, Ron could roughly guess who he was, even without using his psychic abilities.
The skinny bald man had no real name, only a title: Bullseye. He possessed incredibly precise throwing abilities, capable of using any throwable object as a weapon. Even a playing card or a toothpick could kill an enemy dozens of meters away; his ability was formidable.
And the boss Bullseye mentioned was likely the big villain, Kingpin.
Kingpin, whose real name was Wilson Fisk, controlled the largest gang in America. He possessed formidable combat skills and a physique as massive as a mountain, making him incredibly powerful.
The man Bullseye had killed earlier was probably someone Kingpin had put in charge of some legitimate company shares on the market, to increase his leverage and prevent his organization from being wiped out by government agencies.
America was a capitalist society; the more capital you controlled, the more easily you could survive, regardless of whether you were a gangster, drug dealer, or anything else.
This time, Ron's reverse scheme had successfully forced Kingpin to hand over the shares he controlled. Then, Osborn Industries suddenly rose, and its stock soared, so Kingpin must have been furious and wanted to reclaim those shares.
And the reason Bullseye killed that guy was probably Kingpin's attempt to force Ron to become a member of his gang and work for him, right?
So, Ron shrugged, feigning indifference, and said to Bullseye, "Sorry, you might be mistaken. I'm not interested in your demands, nor am I interested in your boss..."
Bullseye chuckled at Ron's words: "I know you. Your name is Ron, right? That regeneration serum was your research. It's very good, I like it a lot, but what does that matter?"
"Although your mutant bodyguard is good, her abilities are too ordinary. Fast speed and great strength are like a thin piece of paper to me—one poke and it's broken!"
Bullseye began to approach Ron and Jessica, flipping a playing card in his hand. He looked at them with extreme confidence, as if he were looking at dead men.
"And you, you're just a mortal. Even if that girl protects you, you're still just a mortal. If I want you dead, no one can save you, and that girl certainly can't."
Saying this, Bullseye flicked his hand, directly shooting the playing card he had been flipping countless times towards Ron. It flew into the trunk of a tree behind Ron, completely embedding itself.
Only after this attack did Jessica react, immediately stepping in front of Ron, intending to protect him.
Though her speed was fast, Bullseye's throwing speed was clearly faster. Jessica only vaguely saw an object fly out, and the next moment, it was gone from her sight.
Seeing that Jessica hadn't blocked his playing card, and with Ron making no moves, Bullseye's smile widened.
"See? If I want to make a move on you, that girl can't even react. So, will you come with me obediently? My boss is very interested in you and won't kill you."
Bullseye was actually very satisfied with his recent attack. According to his estimation, the playing card should have penetrated at most ninety percent into the tree trunk, but it had completely embedded itself, clearly indicating much greater power.
Although Bullseye also felt there was a slight strangeness to it, after all, with his control over projectiles, his attack shouldn't have been able to fully embed itself in the trunk.
But Bullseye didn't think too much about it. After all, tree trunks vary, and he didn't know the condition inside the trunk. The increased power of his attack might have been due to the tree being infested with worms!
What puzzled Bullseye most was Ron's expression.
Earlier, when Ron faced a dozen men in black, it was normal for him not to be afraid because he had that empowered girl protecting him.
However, now that the girl couldn't protect him, Ron still showed no fear, even smiling at him, completely disregarding his threat.
There were three possibilities: one, Ron himself possessed powerful abilities and wasn't afraid of him at all.
Two, Ron actually had other bodyguards who could defeat him and quickly come out to protect Ron.
Three, Ron was a stoic, showing no other expression besides a smile.
But that couldn't be. Even if a stoic had no expression, they still had legs. If someone was scared, their first instinct would be to run, but Ron showed no intention of running, which was strange.
The more Bullseye thought about it, the stranger it seemed. He secretly placed a finger on another playing card hidden behind his arm, ready to strike and kill Ron without leaving a living trace if the situation turned sour.
Although Kingpin's request was to capture him alive, if something unexpected happened, Bullseye wouldn't face much consequence for killing Ron, at most a few scoldings.
In an emergency, Bullseye would absolutely choose to preserve himself rather than exert maximum effort to complete a mission; that would be too foolish.
Bullseye valued his own life; he didn't want to lose it for a trivial mission.
At this moment, Ron looked at the wary Bullseye, pondering whether he should go with Bullseye and take care of this Kingpin character as well.
After a brief thought, Ron immediately dismissed the idea.
Because that would be too demeaning.
Who was Ron? He was the boss of the Guardians Alliance! If something needed to be done, he could just assign it to his subordinates. Why should he bother dealing with a small-time character like Kingpin?
So, Ron simply ignored Bullseye and walked with Jessica towards his Mercedes convertible.
"Jessica, let's go. It's alright now."
Jessica was a bit confused. She pointed at Bullseye and said worriedly, "But that guy is still watching us. If we leave, won't he attack us?"
Ron smiled, "It's fine, don't worry about him..."
"You don't know what's good for you! Die!"
On the other side, Bullseye, seeing Ron ignore him, snorted coldly and then directly threw the two playing cards in his hand towards Ron and Jessica, intending to kill them.
However, the very next instant after he threw the cards, Bullseye suddenly felt something pierce his throat, making his breathing extremely difficult.
Bullseye's vitality was strong. He reached out and touched his neck, only feeling a narrow slit, some warm liquid, and a faint wisp of air.
Feeling these things, Bullseye instantly realized that his throat must have been pierced by something.
And that something, without a doubt, was the two ordinary playing cards he had just thrown!
