Ron shook his head with a smile after hearing Pepper say that Tony Stark had agreed.
"Miss Pepper, I think you're mistaken. I don't need you to promise me a million dollars; I need Mr. Stark to promise me a million dollars."
After speaking, Ron pointed to his ear again and explained,
"My hearing is excellent, Miss Pepper. Although the place where you just made the call was quite far, I still roughly overheard your conversation with Tony Stark. Mr. Stark said he would never agree to my request, didn't he?"
"Well…" Pepper was a little embarrassed. The reception room wasn't large, and although she spoke very softly, someone with good hearing could indeed roughly hear what she was saying.
"Mr. Ron, Tony, he…"
"Don't say anymore, Miss Pepper. You should go back. When Mr. Stark agrees to my request and calls me, I'll agree to meet him."
Seeing that Pepper seemed to want to say something else, Ron stood up, interrupted her, and then said to his assistant beside him,
"Tina, give Miss Pepper my phone number, and then see Miss Pepper out of Osborn Industries."
"Yes, sir." The assistant named Tina nodded, took out a special business card, handed it to Pepper, and then smiled, "Miss Pepper, please."
"I…" Pepper gritted her teeth, stared at Ron for a while, then sighed softly in her heart, picked up her bag, stood up, and walked out with Tina.
Pepper didn't give up. She still decided to persuade Tony. After all, judging by Ron's demeanor, he probably wouldn't agree to her. Ron wasn't familiar with her, and she had no confidence in persuading Ron.
After Pepper left, Ron briefly estimated the likelihood of Tony Stark coming to find him later.
After thinking for a while, Ron felt that this probability should be as high as eighty percent.
As for why it would be so high?
That's because Pepper Potts, the person Tony Stark trusts most, was there!
After this kidnapping incident, and with Pepper's presence, Tony Stark would definitely set aside his pride and wouldn't be as stubborn as before.
Ron just needed to wait patiently for Pepper to persuade Tony… After Tina, his assistant, saw Pepper off, Ron didn't rush to leave the reception room. Instead, he was waiting for someone else.
In Tina's list of visitors, there was a person named Jessica Campbell. This person hadn't filled in a reason for her visit, only writing a few words—high school classmate.
As soon as he saw this name and the words "high school classmate," Ron understood that the Jessica Campbell who was looking for him was definitely the future superhero Jessica Jones of the Defenders.
About half a year ago, when Ron was still attending Midtown High School, he had visited a severely injured Jessica Campbell in a hospital once.
He had treated Jessica's confused mental state and had even left some optimistic and positive mental suggestions.
He hadn't expected that half a year had already passed, and Jessica had only now remembered that Ron had cured her and was coming to find him.
Ron waited a little longer, and Tina, who had seen Pepper off, returned to the reception room. She saw that Ron hadn't left yet and went up to ask,
"Mr. Ron, do you have any other instructions?"
"Hmm, I remember there was a person named Jessica Campbell on the visitor list, Tina. Did you record her phone number?" Ron said.
"Yes, I'll find it for you right away." Tina nodded, took out the small tablet she carried with her, and started searching.
Tina's full name was Tina Christie, a typical European-American girl. She had beautiful blonde hair and fair skin, loved to laugh, and was a very lively girl.
"Mr. Ron, I have the number. It's…" She searched for a while, found the Jessica Campbell Ron mentioned, and gave Ron the phone number from the record sheet.
Ron recorded the number on his phone, then stood up, ready to leave. "Tina, you did a great job. I'll give you a raise. I'm leaving now. If anything comes up, text me."
"Hmm, thank you for the compliment." Tina became happy. Although her salary wasn't small, she certainly wouldn't refuse if she could get more.
You know, cosmetics, clothes, accessories, these things are all very expensive and require a lot of money to buy… After leaving Osborn Industries, Ron dialed Jessica Campbell's number, preparing to meet this future superhero, Jewel, and recruit her into the Guardians Alliance.
Although Ron's Guardians Alliance currently had three members, besides Black Widow, the spy, and him, the boss, the only real member was the poor Peter Parker.
So, it was time to bring some fresh blood into the Guardians Alliance.
"Hello, who is this?" The phone connected, and a somewhat cool female voice came from the phone.
"Ron Brenstad, the person you're looking for." Ron smiled and gave his name.
"Holy cow, it really is you! I didn't expect a super genius like you to actually call me. How about it, you pick a place, and we can meet up!" Hearing that it was Ron on the other end of the phone, Jessica was surprised and said coolly.
"Hmm, the coffee shop on Midtown Avenue in Queens?" Ron thought for a moment, found an address, and reported it.
"Sounds good, it's not too far from where I am. Come quickly, I'll wait for you." Jessica said.
"Okay, I'll be there right away." Ron hung up the phone, went to the underground parking garage of the Osborn Industries building, found a regular Mercedes sports car that Norman Osborn had given him, and drove out, preparing to meet Jessica.
Thinking of Jessica, who had become cool on the phone, Ron smiled, knowing that the positive mental suggestions he had left her earlier had worked.
The current Jessica was completely unlike the future Jessica Jones, who became decadent and reclusive due to the Purple Man's control; she was still an optimistic girl.
But when Ron arrived in Queens and saw Jessica with his own eyes, he suddenly felt that perhaps the positive mental suggestions he had left her were a bit too much.
This originally seemingly quiet girl had completely changed. She was wearing short shorts and a crop top, with a hat and headphones, and a skateboard beside her. She had clearly become a hip-hopper.
When she saw Ron approaching, she immediately recognized Ron, whom she wasn't very familiar with, and walked towards him.
Then, Jessica struck a cool pose and even started dancing.
"Yo yo, check it out… Ron, come with me, I'll teach you hip-hop… check it out…"
"Uh…" Ron was speechless. What the hell, the change was too drastic, wasn't it?
Ron ignored Jessica. He sat down in a seat and said to Jessica, "Jessica, can you stop? You came to see me, so you should have something serious to discuss, right?"
"Alright…" Jessica tried her best to control herself, sat down opposite Ron, and began to speak.
"Well, Ron, I came to see you to confirm one thing. Back then—"
As Jessica spoke, her tone began to become extremely resentful.
"Back then, it was you who left those positive thoughts in my mind, wasn't it?!"
