Chapter 48 - 48

The next day, Ron had already chosen one of the many interesting ideas that he felt was quite good, and was preparing to implement it.

Ron was a man of action; if he decided on something, he would definitely see it through.

So, Ron went to Peter Parker's rented house early in the morning, ready to complete the first step of this idea—

Forming a superhero team, just like the Avengers!

...

To make it easier to study at Empire State University, Peter Parker had moved out of his Uncle Ben's house over a month ago and into a dilapidated rental house not far from the university.

After moving out, Aunt May gave him some living expenses, but he was already 18 and in college, so it was time for him to create wealth with his own hands.

Originally, Peter was doing quite well; his salary at Oscorp Industries was not low. However, since Dr. Curt Connors disappeared a few days ago, he lost his internship assistant job at Oscorp Industries, and with it, his source of income.

The financial hardship forced Peter to find other ways to earn money.

Coincidentally, when Peter was walking home yesterday, he saw a news report in a newspaper on the roadside stating that the Daily Bugle was soliciting photos of Spider-Man taken by the public. The better and clearer the photos, the higher the bonus they would receive from the Daily Bugle.

Upon seeing this information, Peter immediately became excited. He himself was Spider-Man, and he also happened to have a good camera. If he were to 'secretly' take a few photos of himself in his Spider-suit, getting the bonus from the Daily Bugle would be as easy as drinking water!

Peter was also afraid of being poor, so he frantically took photos last night, planning to go to the Daily Bugle's commercial building early in the morning to collect his bonus.

But just as he reached the door, Peter met his good friend, Ron.

"Uh... Ron, why are you here to see me? And so... excited?" Peter asked, stunned, looking at Ron's smiling face.

Having known Ron for so long, Peter understood him very well. He knew that Ron's personality was actually quite indifferent, especially after he learned that Ron also had superpowers.

Normally, Ron would never come to him proactively. There had to be a trick!

"Of course I'm here to see you; I have some important matters to discuss with you!" Ron said, maintaining his smile.

Sure enough, as soon as Ron spoke, Peter immediately felt a bad premonition, finding it somewhat eerie.

What exactly did Ron want to do?

Peter cautiously watched Ron, waiting for him to reveal the matter.

And when Ron saw Peter's cautious look, the smile on his face grew even wider, and he said,

"Peter, do you remember the last time you invited me to be a superhero with you and form a superhero team? I've thought about it since then and realized your suggestion isn't bad at all. So, Peter, do you welcome me to join the team?"

Upon hearing this, Peter immediately took a big step back and said defensively,

"Tell me quickly, are you really Ron Bronstad? I suspect you're an imposter. Anything you say will be used as evidence in court. You have the right to remain silent, because I will arrest you. Please cease your resistance..."

"Alright, Peter Parker! I'm serious!" Ron said, somewhat helplessly. It seemed his previous refusal to be a superhero with Peter had left Peter with a psychological shadow. Now, hearing him bring it up, Peter even suspected he was an imposter...

"Alright..." Seeing that Peter still didn't believe him, Ron also withdrew his artificial smile and said indifferently, "I just feel a bit bored lately and want to add some excitement to my life, that's all."

"That's more like it!" Seeing Ron return to 'normal,' Peter finally lowered his guard. "But Ron, even if you're bored, you wouldn't think about becoming a superhero, would you? That's not like you at all!"

"Believe it or not," Ron shrugged, adopting a 'it's up to you' attitude.

Peter was speechless. Had Ron's personality suddenly changed, or was he planning something mischievous? Why had he suddenly become so strange?

"Alright, but Ron, you're actually already a superhero. Your title of Skywalker is much more famous than my Spider-Man title. You can become a superhero whenever you want, so why are you telling me this?"

However, seeing Ron's expression, Peter could only nod and agree.

"What's the point of being a superhero alone? Peter, I remember last time you invited me, you even had a team name in mind. Hurry up and tell me, what's the team name? Let me take a look and see if it sounds good."

Ron said, feigning a look of disdain.

Ron's goal was certainly not to truly be a superhero; his idea was far more complex than that!

To make things interesting for himself, Ron had prepared an excellent idea. For this idea, Ron had even cast aside his last shred of shame, just to see it through.

Of course, to make this idea even more interesting, Ron would not use his abilities to achieve it; that would be too boring.

There's a saying that goes, 'Fighting with people brings endless joy.'

Presumably, this endless joy would certainly make Ron feel very entertained!

At this moment, Peter finally stopped doubting Ron. He became excited about Ron's idea of forming a team with him. After all, being a superhero alone was indeed very boring and too lonely.

If he could have a friend to be a superhero with, to share the experience of fighting crime, that would be much more fun than doing it alone!

However, Peter was still a little uneasy. He confirmed with Ron one last time, "Ron, we've agreed, okay? We're going to form a superhero team together, no backing out!"

"Of course," Ron replied with certainty.

"Alright, then I'll say it." Peter nodded, no longer hesitating, and told Ron the idea he had thought of long ago.

"I've prepared two names: one is 'Hero Squad,' and the other is 'Sky-Spider Squad,' corresponding to our titles of Spider-Man and Skywalker. Ron, which of these two names do you think sounds better and cooler?"

"Neither sounds good," Ron said, looking at Peter with disdain. "Honestly, Peter, both these names are as bad as 'Flying Hero,' which you came up with for me before. Your naming skills are terrible; I despise you!"

"Uh..." Peter rubbed his head and didn't object to Ron's words, because his naming skills were indeed a bit poor, and had been since childhood.

However, Peter didn't show weakness. He snorted and said, "Then Ron, you come up with a name. I'd like to see what kind of name you come up with!"

"Oh? You want me to come up with a name? Coincidentally, I've also thought of two names. Want to hear them?" Ron said, revealing an expected smile.

Peter's expression became serious. "Alright, Ron, go ahead."

Thinking of his idea, Ron, uncharacteristically, became a little excited and said,

"Both of these names are very fitting for superhero identities, you know? They are 'The Defenders' and 'The Guardians.' How about it, Peter, do these names sound good? Are they cool?"

Peter heard this, wiped non-existent sweat from his forehead, and said somewhat awkwardly,

"They're pretty good, let's go with that... *cough cough*, Ron, don't hold me up, let me laugh a bit more. Haha... these two names are too old-fashioned, too low-brow... Ah, Ron is actually throwing things at me, I'm going to fight you..."
