Shortly after the pool of blood on the ground was drained by the sword, it opened it's mouth again before speaking.
"Hehehehe, This guy really thought I would protect him? What did he think a sword can do on it's own?" The sword paused, and thought, before continuing.
"If the wielder sucks then the sword is of no use... After all, I'm definitely a good sword..." The sword praised itself, but no one cared.
...as far as I'm seeing, you don't seem much better than my straight-line sword which went nowhere... It's even worse since you basically urged your owner to be reckless when he knew this was a trap...
In any cases, the sword changed colors after drinking his blood. Does this mean it got some kind of upgrade? I can't be too relaxed right now... No, I'm dying anyways.
I sighed, I wasn't going to do anything about the sword, I wasn't going to do anything about the girl either... There's no use in trying to struggle anymore, let's just give up.
The girl seemed to be in a daze for a few moments. She had just killed another person...
Fuuu~
The girl took a deep breath before calming down. This wasn't in her wishes... She didn't want to kill anyone...
However, being transported to a strange place with a system telling them to kill each others without even telling them any reasons, what could she even do?
Trying to negotiate with others wasn't going to work... Trying to negotiate with the system was impossible... It disappeared after giving us the message...
Now, what was she going to do next? Kill these 2 man left on the floor? But they're not hostile to her... They aren't showing any intentions of harming anyone...
She didn't have to think much to decide whether or not she would kill them for the sake of the game, she simply turned around and left the 2 man behind.
The homeless man didn't have a change of expression as he pretended to be dead, he didn't even bat an eye when the guy with the sword was killed.
"Hey!" A voice called out to me, it was the sword.
"Hey!! Are you deaf? I'm telling you to pick me up and go chase that girl down! No, kill that homeless looking man." The sword tried persuading me.
"... I'm too tired." I simply replied, the sword wasn't close enough, I didn't want to go pick it up...
"Huh? Aren't you a man? Why are you giving up because of a few bullet wounds?! Stop being a useless idiot and get up if you want to survive!" ...It can tell? Right, this is clearly not a normal sword. It has intelligence and it can see, somehow.
Regardless, I ignored the sword's voices, there was no reasons to pick it up. There was no one around coming to kill me like earlier.
At that moment, the long awaited system message popped up.
[RNG SYSTEM]
[Sorry for the inconveniences, players. We've neglected the part about, uh, adding a notifier for how many players there's left...]
[Players left: 14]
There's 14 players left... As I stared, the message suddenly changed.
The numbers quickly went down. 13...12...11...10...9
[Players left: 9]
...what? 5 people just died that quickly? I wonder what's happening at that area. Let's see... It was probably from there.
My eyes casted towards a particular area where figures can only be seen faintly and distant, as I was afar.
There was 2 figures left there. People had probably gathered there for some reasons... I thought as I speculated the reasons for the sudden decrease of numbers in players.
...
The deaths were abnormal and strange. The players had died but there was no corpses or traces of blood.
"Why did you-" A figure was about to say something when someone interrupted.
"It's not him. It's his item, that strange door in his hands..." His voice was trembling, his body also shaking.
He didn't want to make any reckless moves, as he stayed idle.. but the chances of survival for them was now 0%.
Their items had been devoured, and the door holding man was merely sparing them for the moment, focusing on another target.
The figure with a door in his hands was a man in his middle ages. He was quite tall and he looked to be tired for some reasons.
He then held out his door again, but in reality, it looked more like the door was controlling him.
His tired out appearances, and his lack of reactions, they all pointed towards a fact that he might've been completely overtaken by the strange door.
The strange door was green in color, with few tree leaves on it, giving a forest-like vibe. it had no handles and it was as tall as the man.
The door was pointed towards a figure in the distant, it was a girl who looked to be stunned at the sight earlier as she stood there, watching everything.
Holding a dagger in her arms, she quickly tried to evade the door's sight. She tried to leave the corresponding range of it.
As she evaded to the side, trying to not be the next victim to die, her hope of surviving was quickly destroyed as the door quickly turned towards her direction again immediately.
Strange particles extended out in a second, reaching the girl quickly as they enveloped her in darkness, which was made up of the particles earlier, that looked like green vines.
[Players left: 8]
The girl disappeared along with the particles as they slowly dissipated, before returning back to the door.
The door then pointed at the direction of the 2 figures earlier, which were the most nearby targets.
It seems that the door hadn't targeted them as it deemed them harmless. The reason was, they didn't have any items left on them.
They couldn't possibly do anything with their bare hands, not when the door can also devour nearby targets that comes close.
...
A figure stayed frozen in space, as if time has stopped moving only in that space, or perhaps it was only the figure that was frozen.
Out of nowhere, a flying sword flew.
It was slow but it was approaching the figure, the girl who's been possessed by a being suspected to be some demons of sorts.
Actually, she looked more like an angel, as her face was still pure even when she killed the other players.
Almost expressionless as if she suppressed all her emotions inside. Like a secondary consciousness that was trying to break free.
...
Aiming from afar, he focused on the scope as the figure holding the strange door starting heading towards the nearest two targets.
They were lying on the floor, and the door would need only few minutes to get them in range before it devours them.
The figure's face was tired, he also seemed to have aged from before. The door was slowly consuming it's owner's life force now that he was physically exhausted to move.
The ability of the strange door, which enveloped people took all energy possible from it's owner. It wasn't without costs.
After getting rid of 8 people in a row, his exhaustion has reached it's peak and now he was consuming his life force to even move slowly.
"Hmm, should I just let him kill them first before shooting? The bullets are precious..."
There was only three bullets in his hands, and the sniper had a chance of missing 1 out of 3 times. This was an effect of the sniper.
Alerting the door before they stopped moving was quite a risky move. It could suddenly start heading towards him instead.
He still couldn't just think that the door wasn't capable of suddenly opening up a portal... As far as he knows, it's been holding back so far, or probably waiting for something else.
Maybe he can get rid of it later when it really does aim for him, but he was also wary of the missing target.
The players left were now only 5. Including the 2 figures on the ground, the door holding man, him and another missing person.
"Letting them die first wouldn't hurt too much... it'll not take long for them to die. It really should be better if I waited... The only bad thing is that I might miss my shot."
He had never held a sniper before, and he had been hiding for a while now. After escaping from the rampages of some player.
He was now watching from afar with a scope, as he waited for everyone else to be eliminated.
Why bother with it when you could just play safe?
