Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The New Era of Villains

Chapter 24: The New Era of Villains

After the temporal shenanigans in Central City, Adam and Felicity returned to Starling City, just in time for the next wave of existential dread. Oliver, having finally embraced his role as the "Green Arrow," was back in action, but a new, more insidious threat had emerged: Damien Darhk. Arrow S04E01: "Green Arrow." This wasn't just another street-level villain; this was magic. Dark magic. And Adam knew it was going to be a pain.

"So, a guy who can do magic? Great. Just when I thought things couldn't get any weirder," Adam muttered, watching a news report about a mysterious attack that left no physical trace. "Is he going to start pulling rabbits out of hats next? Because if so, I'm going to need a bigger hat."

Oliver, now in his snazzy green suit, looked grim. Diggle was, as usual, stoic. Thea, now Speedy, was eager for action. Felicity was already trying to hack magic, which, as Adam knew, was a futile endeavor.

"Damien Darhk. The man who makes brooding look like a hobby. And he's got magic. Which means my usual 'tech' explanations are going to be even more ridiculous. This is going to be fun. For me, anyway. Probably not for Oliver."

"His methods are... unexplainable," Felicity admitted, frustrated. "It's like he's just... making things happen. There's no digital footprint, no energy signature."

"That's because it's magic, Smoak. You can't hack magic. Trust me, I've tried. It just gives you a really confused firewall," Adam quipped. "But don't worry. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve. And by 'tricks,' I mean 'artifacts that will probably confuse Oliver even more'."

He pulled out his Storage Ring. "Alright, team, we need to find out what Darhk wants. And that means a stealth mission. A very, very quiet stealth mission. And lucky for you, I'm a master of quiet. And by 'quiet,' I mean 'I can make things disappear without anyone noticing'."

During a reconnaissance mission at one of Darhk's suspected hideouts, Oliver and Diggle were trying to be stealthy, but their usual methods were too loud, too obvious. Darhk's magic was everywhere, setting off alarms, creating illusions.

Adam, however, was in his element. He used his Storage Ring to discreetly remove obstacles, silence noisy mechanisms, and even make a few guards "disappear" (into the pocket dimension, temporarily, of course). He moved like a ghost, surprising even Oliver.

Oliver (POV): He watched Adam move, a silent, efficient shadow. It was unnerving. Adam, the sarcastic, joke-cracking civilian, was suddenly a master of stealth. He didn't understand how he did it, but he couldn't deny the results. Adam was becoming more and more indispensable, and that, for Oliver, was a terrifying thought.

"How are you doing that?!" Diggle whispered over the comms, his voice filled with awe.

"Trade secret, Diggle. Involves a lot of practice and a little bit of magic," Adam whispered back. "Just think of me as your friendly neighborhood, highly efficient, and slightly unhinged, ghost."

They managed to gather some crucial intel on Darhk's plans. Back in the Arrowcave, Felicity was analyzing the data, but Darhk's magic was making it difficult to find a weakness.

"His magic is too strong," Felicity sighed, frustrated. "We can't find a way to counter it."

"Not with conventional means, no," Adam agreed, pulling out his Pen of Creation. "But what if we don't fight magic with magic? What if we fight it with... science? Or, you know, a really good blueprint for a magic-disrupting gadget?"

He quickly sketched a detailed blueprint for a device that would emit a counter-frequency, disrupting Darhk's magical abilities. It was complex, intricate, and looked like something straight out of a sci-fi movie.

[PEN OF CREATION USED. COST: 40 NON-PLP (COMPLEX BLUEPRINT).]

"Forty LP for a magic-disrupting gadget? That's a bargain! Especially if it means I don't have to deal with any more glowing hands and ominous incantations. Magic is just too much work."

Felicity's eyes widened as she saw the blueprint. "Adam! This is... this is brilliant! A counter-frequency emitter! It might actually work!"

"I told you, Smoak. My hunches are very specific. Especially when they involve saving the world from a guy who looks like he's perpetually annoyed," Adam said, winking. "Now, get to it! The city isn't going to save itself!"

[MISSION COMPLETE: GREEN ARROW. REWARD: 300 NON-PLP.]

"Three hundred LP for fighting a magic man? And a PLP! Seven PLP! I'm basically a magical, sarcastic, and incredibly lucky superhero now. Take that, Damien Darhk! Your magic is no match for my… well, my magic pen."

Adam grinned. He was back in the thick of it, a permanent member of Team Arrow, fighting a new, more dangerous threat. But with his artifacts, his wit, and his ever-growing LP balance, he was ready for anything. Even magic.

System Status After Chapter: Non-PLP: 125. PLP: 7.
