Chapter 96 - 96

How did it go?" In Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Magneto watched Charles open his eyes and quickly asked, "Is the President's side taken care of?"

"I used a few minor tricks, but it's still far from crossing the line." Charles smiled faintly, looking around his office. "Starting today, I am finally a true headmaster."

"Then congratulations!" Magneto smiled and nodded, genuinely congratulating him, "Now, mutant children will be able to enroll openly. However, it's still unknown how long it will take for ordinary people to recognize this diploma..."

"Then we'll need to continue working hard in the future. Talking about that now is still a bit overly ambitious..." Charles shook his head calmly. "The most important thing now is helping you recover. I've already thought of a way!"

"Be careful. That kid's ability is too strange, and our abilities can't affect him. You can't end up like me!" Magneto cautiously reminded Charles.

"Don't worry, this time, I don't need to expose my identity. I just need to subtly give some people some information, and they will naturally do what I want them to do." A smile appeared on Charles's lips. "And when he's in trouble, I'll step in. I think he'll understand what he needs to do then!"

As Charles spoke, he closed his eyes once more, and his psychic power surged out again. This time, it was to a military base, where General Ross had been searching everywhere for Bruce Banner, but hadn't found him. Instead, David Banner had voluntarily shown up.

David Banner, having not heard from Bruce Banner or the Hulk for a long time, subconsciously assumed Bruce Banner had been captured by General Ross. But he hadn't expected that Bruce Banner wasn't there; he had walked right into a trap.

However, David Banner showed no intention of struggling. He even cooperated actively, giving General Ross some of Bruce Banner's blood that he had secretly extracted. General Ross was somewhat tempted and had his subordinates begin researching Bruce Banner's blood.

It was at this moment that the eyes of General Ross's adjutant became vacant. He turned around and stared directly at General Ross. General Ross cautiously pulled out his gun and pointed it at the adjutant, his face sinking as he sternly asked, "Adjutant! What are you doing?"

"General Ross, don't be nervous, I mean no harm." Even facing the barrel of a gun, the adjutant showed no panic. After all, he was currently controlled by Charles, and even if he was shot, Charles would not be harmed.

"Whoosh!"

"Whoosh!"

The surrounding soldiers heard the commotion and rushed over, pointing their guns at the adjutant. At the same time, their faces showed some surprise; they didn't understand what was happening, but General Ross was the supreme commander, and protecting his safety was the most important thing.

"Who are you?" General Ross narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing the adjutant with vacant eyes, while also looking around, trying to find traces of the controller. "What is your purpose? How dare you control my subordinate so casually?"

"Who I am is not important, but I know the whereabouts of Mr. Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk." The adjutant's voice was still calm, but what he said made General Ross's expression change.

It should be known that the matter of the Hulk, apart from the news reports hinting at a possible mutant, was only known to a few high-ranking officials. However, among the high-ranking officials, there were clearly no such superpowered individuals, or rather, even if there were, they wouldn't expose themselves. Therefore, the Hulk's situation must have been exposed!

"How do you know about the Hulk?" General Ross took a deep breath, staring directly at the adjutant's changing expression, but unfortunately, the controlled adjutant showed no emotional changes at all.

"How I know is inconvenient to say, but Mr. Bruce Banner is currently in New York's Chinatown. However, General Ross, when you go to find him, it's best to bring more people, because the person harboring Mr. Bruce Banner is no weaker than the Hulk, and even has more tricks up their sleeve..." The adjutant finally spoke Charles's words, then his body trembled, and he slowly regained clarity.

"Gen... General?" The adjutant had just regained consciousness when he saw the dark barrel of a gun pointed at him, and countless other guns also aimed at him. The adjutant shivered in fear. He didn't understand what had happened, or why General Ross and the soldiers were pointing their guns at him.

"Go! Check the top-secret files. I want to know who can control my men without being present in the base!" General Ross gave the adjutant a cold look. "You, go reflect!"

"Yes!" The adjutant quickly responded, consciously walking into a secret room and locking himself inside.

"How did a superpowered individual get involved with Bruce Banner? Wait! Could it be a mutant?" A thought flashed through General Ross's mind. He looked at his subordinate, who was coming to get the top-secret file key, and asked, "Check what major events have happened recently with mutants!"

"Yes!" The subordinate was stunned for a moment, then quickly nodded and immediately went to investigate. Soon, he received news of William Stryker's failure, as well as the President's secret meeting with Charles and the official recognition of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. And how similar were the President's experiences to General Ross's experiences?

One can only say that Charles still trusted his own abilities too much and underestimated figures like the President and General Ross. Although in their eyes they were ordinary people without abilities, the intelligence relayed by information was absolutely not slow.

"Hmph! Mutants actually dared to provoke me?!" Anger flashed in General Ross's eyes. He wished he could lead his troops to flatten Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. It should be known that General Ross's title was "Thunderbolt" General!

"General, what should we do now? And what about Bruce Banner's side..." The subordinate tentatively looked at General Ross and reminded him, "No matter the reason, the President just reached an agreement with Charles. If we send troops rashly, it might not be good..."

"He wants us to cause trouble in Chinatown, which means he has a grudge against the person sheltering Bruce Banner in Chinatown. And, most likely, he's not an opponent for that person. Otherwise, why would he use us to kill with a borrowed knife?"

"You have a point." General Ross took a deep breath and slowly calmed down. He noted this matter, but now was not the time for revenge, at least not while the President had just reached an agreement with the mutants.

"Perhaps we can let David Banner test them. He's always so mysterious, like a madman. And, doesn't he want to find Bruce Banner? Then let him go!"
