The 21st Precinct was exactly where Jack was stationed. Jack was targeting the precinct chief who had just called him, telling him not to send officers to help.
With the credit for capturing Hammerhead and Tombstone this time, and the machinations of Jack's uncle and others, if they could bring down this precinct chief, Jack might really have a chance to become the new chief of the 21st Precinct as an outstanding police representative.
As for the person behind the precinct chief, their status and position were too high to be easily brought down. However, to protect themselves, that person behind the scenes might abandon the precinct chief, or even actively show goodwill and give Jack a push!
Soon, Jack finished his call with his uncle, using a language that no one present had ever heard before, and which barely sounded like a language at all—at least, it wasn't as coherent as typical speech.
"Boss, it must be a prearranged code," Yuriko whispered to Huang Wen, as if some memory had been triggered.
"Code?" Huang Wen raised an eyebrow. It seemed Jack was even more complex than he had imagined. At the very least, ordinary relatives wouldn't use codes when talking to each other.
"Alright, everyone worked hard today. My treat tonight, let's go to the hotpot restaurant for a good meal!" Huang Wen quickly put the thought of codes behind him and said with a smile to the panting, excited, and thrilled students.
"Great!" The students cheered. Although this wasn't a battle of life and death, for these students who hadn't truly fought before, this battle built strong self-confidence and made them realize that their hard work had indeed paid off.
"Ding-a-ling!" Just as everyone was cheering, a phone rang. Max, who had been laughing heartily with everyone, changed his expression and quickly answered the phone nervously.
"Hey, you, there's a circuit malfunction at the company, go check it out..." A condescending voice spoke, making Max's face turn even uglier.
"Give it to me, Max." Jack patted Max's shoulder, signaling for him to hand over the phone. Max didn't even have time to think and instinctively handed the phone to Jack.
"Hello? Are you Max's boss?" Jack took the phone and asked with a light smile.
"I'm his supervisor, who are you?" The supervisor's displeased voice came from the other end of the line.
"Oh, I'm Jack from the New York 21st Precinct. Max discovered a major public safety crime and is cooperating with our investigation. Your company should find someone else!" Jack gave Max a reassuring look. "By the way, in a couple of days, we'll come to your company to present a 'Courageous Citizen' medal. Please arrange for the reception and publicity!"
"Really? Good, good, good. Our company will arrange it immediately. Officer, let me tell you, Max is usually an excellent employee at our company..." The voice on the other end paused, then realized this was a chance for free publicity for their company, and excitedly spoke.
"Alright, I have other things to attend to. You should see the report in the news soon," Jack said lightly, then hung up the phone and returned it to Max.
"Jack, this..." Max looked at Jack hesitantly, "Won't this be exposed?"
"Who would expose you? Isn't this the truth?" Jack looked around at the students and smiled, "The Hammerhead and Tombstone gangs were about to engage in illegal activities, you stumbled upon them, tracked them all the way, and called the police, allowing us to complete this crime-fighting operation. What? Didn't you just fight criminals?"
"Exactly, Max, your moves just now weren't any lighter than ours!" The nearby students laughed good-naturedly.
"Yeah, you don't look like yourself now compared to when you were fighting!"
Max looked at the smiling students around him, and suddenly felt a warm current rise in his heart, his eyes immediately reddening. He quickly wiped his eyes and looked at Huang Wen, wanting to say something more.
"Alright, Max, from now on, you are not just classmates, but comrades-in-arms. In our Chinese culture, you are like senior and junior brothers, brothers fighting side by side. Since they all say so, then it is the truth!" Huang Wen shook his head with a smile and looked at Bullseye.
"Let's go eat hotpot. I'll leave Bullseye to watch over them here and maintain order..."
"Of course, of course!" Bullseye's expression stiffened. He glanced at Rhys Fisk and quickly said with a smile.
"I'll come out after my uncle arrives." Jack put his arm around Max's shoulder and walked towards the hotpot restaurant. The surrounding students also gathered around. After tonight, the relationships among these remaining students had become even better.
Max felt an emotion he had never experienced before, his body trembling slightly. He hadn't been this excited even when they were fighting just now.
"Hello, Boss, Mr. Huang Wen has already resolved the situation. Hammerhead and Tombstone are both dead, and the remaining gang members have been brought under control by Mr. Huang Wen..." After Huang Wen and the others left, Bullseye quickly reported the news to Kingpin.
"This is quite a surprise to me. With this, we just need to expel Negative from the game, and the entire New York underworld will be mine to command!" Kingpin's faint laughter echoed from the other end of the phone. "By then, it will be the first step of my plan completed..."
"Boss, I still have something to mention. Mr. Huang Wen's strength might far exceed our previous imagination..." Bullseye glanced cautiously in the direction of the hotpot restaurant and lowered his voice, "It's possible that he might slip out of your control, especially since he now has more than just our connection..."
"That Sergeant Jack, right? I've only found out so far that his uncle is the First Deputy Commissioner of the NYPD. The rest of the information is still unknown." Kingpin was silent for a moment, then laughed, "But what does that matter? From the beginning, I never intended to control Mr. Huang Wen."
"Rhys and Mr. Huang Wen's relationship is inherently that of student and teacher. Mr. Huang Wen has inadvertently helped us so many times, which is already beyond my expectations. The stronger he is, the better it is for me. At least, I don't have to worry about Rhys's side."
"Moreover, there is no conflict of interest between us. Although Mr. Huang Wen doesn't particularly like dealing with me directly, he should understand that in New York, a unified underworld is better than a chaotic and turbulent dark world..."
"Understood, Boss. I think I understand." Bullseye took a deep breath and put away his phone.
