Recap of Chapter 9:
Ka'roth led his horde to the Abyss, a colossal chasm bleeding black mist and whispers. There, the Abyssal Entity rose—a towering faceless figure that spoke Ka'roth's name. Their battle shook the land, ending when Ka'roth tore it apart and absorbed its essence, spreading glowing rune-like marks across his body. But as the Entity died, the Abyss itself pulsed like a living thing, revealing countless glowing eyes deep within. Ka'roth roared over his kneeling horde, claiming the title of Beast Sovereign, as the Abyss whispered: "Rise higher… or fall within."

The Call of the Abyss
The Abyss loomed before Ka'roth like a wound carved into the bones of the world. The black mist curled upward, cold and thick, carrying whispers that clawed at his mind. His glowing runes pulsed faintly in rhythm with the abyssal heartbeat below, as though tethered.
Behind him, his horde of 400 beasts crouched low, restless but silent. Even the fiercest tusked grazers and winged raptors dared not look at the chasm. Their instincts screamed at them to flee. But Ka'roth… stepped forward.
He spread his wings, his metallic scales shimmering faintly even under the dark mist. The Sovereign of Beasts leapt from the cliff's edge and dove straight into the Abyss.

The Descent
Darkness swallowed him instantly. The mist was thick, choking, pressing against his scales like water. His wings cut through the air, but no sound echoed here—not even his roars. His glowing runes illuminated his path, their light barely piercing the void.
Below, faint shapes moved. Massive silhouettes slithered and crawled along the chasm walls, their forms too strange to name. Some had too many limbs, some none at all. They watched silently, glowing eyes tracking his fall.
The whispers grew clearer:
"Deeper… deeper…"
Then, after what felt like hours, his claws struck ground.
Ka'roth landed on solid stone. Before him stretched an endless cavern—a vast underworld lit only by faint rivers of glowing black liquid that pulsed like veins. The ground trembled with every beat of that distant, abyssal heart.

The Abyssal Realm
This was no mere pit. It was a world beneath the world, ancient and untouched.
Ka'roth stalked forward. His tail lashed, claws scraping against the black stone. His runes glowed brighter here, resonating with the surroundings. The air was heavy, thick with power.
From the shadows, they came.
A dozen Abyssborn Beasts emerged—creatures warped by the darkness. Their skin was pale gray, stretched tightly over sharp bones, with mouths too wide and limbs bending wrong. Black ichor dripped from their fangs.
They circled Ka'roth silently, their movements jerky, unnatural.
Ka'roth's wings spread wide, his roar splitting the oppressive silence. The Abyssborn lunged.

The Battle Below
Ka'roth met them head-on.
The first beast leapt high, jaws gaping. Ka'roth's claw shot upward, catching its skull mid-air and crushing it instantly. He swung its broken body into another, sending them both sprawling.
Two more struck from his flanks, their claws slicing across his scales. Sparks flew, but his metallic hide held. He spun, his tail whipping like a steel whip, cracking bones.
Another lunged low, snapping at his leg. Ka'roth stomped down, his clawed foot splitting its spine in half.
The runes along his body glowed white-hot. Energy surged through him. With a roar that shook the cavern, Ka'roth unleashed a blast—a wave of raw force that tore through the Abyssborn, scattering their twisted bodies.
In seconds, silence returned.

The Heartbeat
Ka'roth's glowing eyes turned toward the far end of the cavern. There, he saw it—a massive pulsating organ embedded deep within the stone wall. It glowed faintly red, its beat slow but deafening, reverberating through the entire abyss.
The Heart of the Abyss.
The whispers screamed now:
"Take it! Claim it! Become more!"
Ka'roth approached, each step shaking the cavern floor. His claws dug into the stone as he stood before the throbbing heart. Power radiated from it, so intense it made his scales ache.
He raised a clawed hand.

The Abyss Fights Back
The moment he touched it, the entire abyss roared to life.
The walls split open, and from them emerged titanic creatures—Abyssal Guardians, far larger than the beasts he had faced before. Each stood taller than mountains, their forms half-solid, half-shadow, with jagged tendrils writhing from their backs.
One swung its colossal arm down, shattering stone where Ka'roth stood. He leapt aside, claws digging into the wall as he scaled upward, then launched himself at its chest, tearing deep grooves into its flesh.
Another Guardian roared, sending a shockwave that hurled him across the cavern. Ka'roth slammed into the stone, his runes flaring to shield his body.
Pain burned, but he rose instantly, snarling. His wings snapped wide, propelling him forward like a spear. He drove his claws into the Guardian's head and ripped it apart in a spray of black mist.
---
The Sovereign's Wrath
The battle raged on. Ka'roth fought like a storm unleashed. His glowing runes pulsed brighter with every strike, his body absorbing fragments of abyssal energy.
He tore limbs from bodies, crushed skulls under his claws, and ripped tendrils apart with his teeth. Black ichor drenched his scales, sizzling and steaming against his glowing marks.
Finally, with one last roar, Ka'roth struck down the final Guardian. Its body dissolved into mist, absorbed into him. His runes exploded with blinding light, his wings unfurling wide enough to engulf the cavern.

Claiming the Heart
Ka'roth turned back to the pulsating heart. Now, nothing stood in his way.
He lunged forward, sinking his claws deep into its flesh. The heart convulsed violently, beating faster and faster. The whispers became a single deafening scream.
Then—silence.
The heart burst, releasing a flood of pure abyssal energy. It struck Ka'roth like a tidal wave, flooding his body. His scales hardened further, his runes etched deeper, glowing like molten fire. His wings split at the edges into jagged, blade-like extensions. His eyes blazed pure white.
Ka'roth threw back his head and roared. The cavern trembled. The Abyss itself seemed to bow.
---
The Abyss Bows
As the echoes faded, Ka'roth stood tall, his body radiating a terrifying aura of both beast and abyss. His roar carried up the chasm, reaching the world above. On the surface, his horde stirred, trembling under the sheer force of it.
The whispers returned one last time, softer now, almost reverent:
"You are ours… and we are yours."
Ka'roth turned, spreading his wings. He had not fallen into the Abyss.
He had claimed it.
