Chapter 35 - Chapter 34: The Truth Revealed

*Master Bob's Mansion - After Oración Seis's Escape*

The aftermath of the battle left the coalition in a state of organized chaos. Erza lay unconscious on one of the mansion's ornate couches, her breathing shallow and labored as Cobra's poison continued to course through her system. The legendary knight's usually perfect composure was gone, replaced by the vulnerable appearance of someone fighting a battle she couldn't win through strength alone.

"The poison is spreading faster than normal," Tycun observed grimly as he knelt beside her, his medical training evident in the way he checked her vital signs. "Dragon Slayer poison is designed to be particularly virulent against human physiology."

"Can you do anything?" Lucy asked desperately, her hands clenched with worry for her guildmate.

Damian moved to Erza's side, his emerald eyes already beginning to glow with magical energy. "**World Magic: Restoration Chamber!**" he called out, creating a small dimensional pocket around Erza's prone form.

The golden light that emanated from the Restoration World was warm and comforting, carrying with it the essence of healing magic refined through dimensional manipulation. Unlike normal healing spells that simply accelerated natural recovery, Damian's World Magic could restore someone to a state before the injury or poisoning had occurred.

Within minutes, color began to return to Erza's face as the dragon slayer poison was systematically purged from her system. Her breathing steadied, and her magical energy signature began to stabilize.

"Incredible," Lyon murmured, watching the process with professional fascination. "You're not just healing the poison's effects—you're removing the poison from her timeline entirely."

"Something like that," Damian confirmed, his concentration focused entirely on maintaining the complex dimensional construct. "The Restoration World convinces reality that the poisoning never happened."

Erza's eyes fluttered open, immediately sharp and alert despite having been unconscious moments before. "What happened? Where's Wendy?"

"Oración Seis took her," Gray said grimly. "Brain grabbed her during the chaos and teleported away with his entire guild."

"Then we need to find her immediately," Erza said, already moving to sit up despite Damian's gentle insistence that she rest.

"Before we do anything," Hibiki interrupted with uncharacteristic seriousness, "there's something you all need to know. Something about what Oración Seis is really after."

The coalition gathered around as Hibiki activated a magical projection device, his usual charming demeanor replaced by the gravity of someone delivering life-changing information.

"Nirvana," he began, the word hanging in the air like a curse. "The ancient magic that Oración Seis has been searching for. We've finally decoded the classified information about what it actually does."

The projection showed ancient texts and magical diagrams that seemed to pulse with ominous energy.

"Nirvana is a super-magic that affects moral alignment on a massive scale," Hibiki continued. "But it's not what most people would expect. It doesn't simply turn good people evil or evil people good through external force."

"Then how does it work?" Jura asked with concern.

"It amplifies and inverts the moral foundations that already exist within a person," Hibiki explained. "If someone who is genuinely good starts having negative thoughts or emotions while Nirvana is active, those feelings become the basis for a complete moral inversion. They become genuinely evil, but it feels natural to them because it grows from their own psychological state."

"And it works in reverse," Ren added grimly. "If someone truly evil experiences genuine remorse or positive emotions while Nirvana is active, they can be transformed into genuinely good people."

The implications hit the coalition like a physical blow. This wasn't mind control or magical compulsion—it was something far more insidious.

"The transformation is permanent?" Erza asked with horror.

"Unless Nirvana is destroyed," Eve confirmed. "The magic creates a new moral foundation that becomes the person's authentic nature. They don't feel controlled or changed—they feel like they're finally being true to themselves."

"That's..." Lucy struggled to find words for the concept. "That's worse than simple mind control. At least with mind control, the real person is still there, just suppressed."

"Exactly," Hibiki said. "Nirvana doesn't suppress the original personality—it replaces it with something that grows organically from the person's own psychological vulnerabilities."

Damian felt a chill that had nothing to do with the mansion's temperature. "Brain's plan isn't just about gaining power. He's planning to fundamentally alter the moral landscape of entire populations."

"Which is why we need to stop him before—" Tycun began, but was interrupted by Damian's sudden alertness.

"I can track Wendy," Damian announced, his World Magic already beginning to manifest around him. "The protective necklace I gave Levy works on a similar principle—I can create a dimensional anchor to anyone I've had significant magical contact with."

"Wendy?" Gray asked with confusion.

"I caught her when she was falling earlier," Damian explained. "The physical contact was brief, but it was enough to establish a magical signature link. **World Magic: Tracking Portal!**"

A shimmering gateway opened in the air, its destination clearly locked onto Wendy's location. Damian stepped through without hesitation, his determination to protect the young Sky Dragon Slayer overriding all other considerations.

*Unknown Forest Location - Moments later*

Damian emerged from his portal into a clearing that reeked of ancient magic and malevolent purpose. The air itself felt wrong, as if reality had been twisted by forces that should never have been awakened. At the center of the clearing lay what appeared to be a sealed chamber carved directly into the living rock.

Wendy sat nearby, her small form shaking with exhaustion and fear. Her magical energy signature was severely depleted, suggesting she had been forced to use her Sky Dragon Slayer magic extensively. But she was alive and apparently unharmed.

"Wendy!" Damian called out, rushing to her side.

The young girl looked up with tear-filled eyes, her usual timid demeanor completely overwhelmed by whatever she had experienced.

"Prince Damian?" she whispered in disbelief. "How did you find me?"

"I promised I'd protect you," Damian said gently, kneeling beside her to check for injuries. "Are you hurt? What did they make you do?"

"They... they made me heal someone," Wendy said through her tears. "A man with blue hair who was sleeping like he was dead. They said if I didn't help him, they would hurt everyone back at the mansion."

Damian's eyes immediately scanned the area, noting the signs of recent magical activity and the complete absence of both Oración Seis and whoever Wendy had been forced to heal.

"The man you healed," he said carefully, "Did he wake up? Do you remember what he looked like?"

"He had strange markings on his face," Wendy said, wiping her eyes. "And when he woke up, he seemed confused, like he didn't know where he was. The bad people were asking him questions, but he couldn't answer them."

*Jellal,* Damian realized with growing concern. *They used Wendy to revive Jellal, but something went wrong.*

"Where did they go?" he asked.

"I don't know," Wendy admitted. "The man with the markings ran away into the forest. The leader of the bad people got very angry and started yelling at the others. Then they all disappeared and left me here."

Damian helped Wendy to her feet, his protective instincts making him want to immediately return her to safety. But his tactical mind recognized that if Jellal was indeed alive and wandering the forest with amnesia, he represented a crucial element in whatever Oración Seis was planning.

"Wendy," he said gently, "I'm going to send you back to the others. But first, I need you to know that what you did—healing that man—wasn't your fault. They forced you to do it by threatening people you care about."

"But what if I helped the bad people?" Wendy asked with the kind of moral concern that was heartbreaking in someone so young.

"Then we'll find a way to fix it," Damian promised. "Sometimes good people have to make difficult choices when others are in danger. What matters is that you tried to protect your friends."

"**World Magic: Safe Harbor!**" Damian called out, creating a transportation portal that would carry Wendy back to the mansion. "Tell the others what happened. I'm going to search for the man you healed."

"Be careful, Prince Damian," Wendy said as she stepped toward the portal. "The bad people were talking about something called Nirvana. They seemed very excited about finding it."

As Wendy disappeared through the portal, Damian began expanding his magical senses to search for traces of Jellal's magical signature. If the former Magic Council member was indeed wandering the forest with amnesia, he would be vulnerable to recapture by Oración Seis.

But more importantly, Jellal clearly knew something about Nirvana's location—something his memories had contained even if his consciousness didn't currently have access to that information.

*Meanwhile - Various Forest Locations*

Through his expanded magical awareness, Damian could sense that the other coalition members were engaged in renewed battles throughout the forest. The members of Oración Seis had spread out again, apparently searching for something—or someone—with desperate urgency.

Natsu's magical signature was burning bright as he faced off against Cobra in a rematch that seemed more evenly matched than their previous encounter. Gray's ice magic was clashing with what appeared to be Racer's high-speed assaults in a different section of the forest. Other battles were unfolding across the woodland as the coalition pursued their scattered enemies.

*I need to find Jellal before they do,* Damian thought, his World Magic beginning to manifest tracking constructs that would help him locate the missing man.

But even as he searched, a growing sense of unease told him that events were moving toward some kind of climax. The forest itself seemed to be holding its breath, as if ancient magic was stirring in response to recent events.

His concerns proved prophetic when a brilliant column of light suddenly erupted from deep within the forest, shooting skyward like a beacon visible for miles in every direction. The light carried with it a magical pressure that made reality itself seem to waver, and Damian immediately recognized the signature of something far older and more powerful than any magic he had encountered.

"Nirvana," he whispered, his heart sinking as he realized what the light meant.

Somewhere in the forest, Brain had found what he was looking for. The ancient super-magic was awakening, and with it, the moral foundations of everyone within its area of effect were about to be put at risk.

The real battle was about to begin, and the stakes had just become higher than anyone had imagined possible.
