Chapter 35 - CHAPTER 35: THE SCHOLAR’S FIRST SILENCE

The bridge was no longer a path; it was a jagged spine of ruin suspended over a screaming abyss. Wei Chen stood amidst the swirling debris, his silver blindfold dancing in the gale created by the mountain's erratic spirit-veins. The six Elders who had attempted to surround him were no longer arrogant masters of the Iron-Thorn; they were desperate men clinging to the remnants of their metallic Qi as the very laws of the world were being rewritten by the blind man before them.

Wei Chen's grip on the stolen sabre was loose, almost negligent. The violet light of the Weapon Intent he had awakened pulsed in rhythmic harmony with his own heartbeat. He didn't look at the Elders with physical eyes, but in the realm of his perception—a world of frequencies and vibrations—they were discordant notes in a masterpiece he was currently composing.

"You speak of power as if it is a weight to be thrown," Wei Chen said, his voice cutting through the roar of the wind with terrifying clarity. "But true power is not the weight; it is the silence that follows the strike."

The six Elders, led by a trembling High Elder Jiro, ignited their Dantians in a final, suicidal surge. They realized that to retreat was to die, and to stay was to be erased. They converged on Wei Chen from six directions, their weapons fused into a singular, rotating vortex of jagged green light—the Iron-Thorn Execution Cage. The pressure was immense; the bridge beneath Wei Chen began to liquefy, the stone turning into white-hot magma from the sheer friction of the Elders' combined Qi.

Wei Chen didn't dodge. He didn't even raise the sabre to parry. Instead, he closed his eyes and whispered a single phrase that echoed with the weight of the world.

"Paradox Art: The Scholar's First Silence."

In an instant, the world went white. It wasn't a flash of light, but a total absence of sound and color. The Solar-Lunar energy within Wei Chen's Twilight Meridians surged into the stolen sabre, causing the metal to reach a point of "Absolute duality." The Yang-fire of creation and the Yin-cold of destruction met within the blade's edge, creating a localized singularity of neutrality.

The Iron-Thorn Execution Cage didn't explode. It simply ceased to be. The weapons of the six Elders, their metallic Qi, and their very battle-cries were swallowed by the "Silence." To the observers, it looked as if a sphere of non-existence had expanded from Wei Chen, passing through the six masters.

When the light faded, the six Elders remained standing for a heartbeat. Then, their weapons crumbled into fine, grey sand. Their robes followed. Finally, the Elders themselves began to dissolve, their bodies turning into translucent ash that was swept away by the wind. They hadn't been killed; they had been unmade, their existence retracted from the world.

Wei Chen let the stolen sabre fall from his hand. It shattered upon hitting the ground, the metal exhausted by the force it had been forced to carry.

"The first movement is over," Wei Chen said, turning his blind gaze toward where Sect Master Thorne stood, alone.

Thorne was no longer the regal master of a sect. His hair was wild, his silver robes stained with the soot of the mountain's core-leak. He watched his Elders vanish into nothingness, and for the first time in his long life, the Crimson Madness in his eyes was replaced by a hollow, ringing clarity. He realized that Wei Chen had been telling the truth—he wasn't even trying. This slaughter, this total erasure of a clan's foundation, was merely the "least" the boy expected of himself.

"You... you are a heretic," Thorne whispered, his voice cracking. "The world will not allow an unknown like you to walk the path. You are a cancer on the Dao."

Wei Chen began to walk toward him, his steps light and silent on the ruined stone.

"The world has been trying to erase my lineage since before I was born, Sect Master. If they want my life, they will have to come and take it themselves. But you? You are merely a man who mistook a mountain for a throne.

You know thorne i could have used the soul grave marrow to render you helpless, like a kid, little more than trash, but i decided against it, you are way too arrogant for your station. This is just me passing a little lesson to you, In your next life learn that arrogance without truly knowing weight of the world is just hubris."

Thorne let out a primal scream. He reached into his own chest, his fingers tearing through his robes and skin to grasp his own Spirit Soul. He wasn't going to fight Wei Chen with techniques anymore. He was going to detonate his own cultivation, using his life-force to ignite the "Thorn-Heart" core and take the entire North Spire—and Wei Chen—into the afterlife with him.

"If I fall," Thorne roared, his body beginning to glow with a terrifying, unstable white light, "this world will remember the name of the man who burned an abomination!"

Wei Chen didn't stop. He didn't even speed up. His tone remained light, almost bored. "Then burn, Sect Master. I have lived in the fire since the womb. Your flame is... quite cold."
