Chapter 49 - Chapter 49

Erza suddenly stood in the middle, hugging Makarov and pulling him to her chest. Makarov's head hit Erza's breastplate with a 'Bang!' sound.

"Ouch...!" Erza tightened her embrace.

"Don't worry, Master. I will protect you," she said, glaring at Chen Fan with a challenging look.

Seeing Makarov suffer, Chen Fan's anger subsided. He chuckled. "Alright, Erza, I was just joking with Master. If you don't let go of him soon..." Chen Fan deliberately left his sentence hanging.

Erza also looked down at her chest and saw that Makarov's eyes had rolled back. She immediately released Makarov. With a 'Bang!' sound, Makarov fell to the floor. Erza and Mira were shocked and quickly shook Makarov.

"Hey, old man, don't pretend to be dead. I have something to report. If you don't listen, I'm leaving," Chen Fan said, pretending to leave.

Makarov immediately jumped up as if nothing had happened. "Oh right, you have to report to me. I need to assess if you, the future Guild Master, are worthy." He walked to the corner of the counter with his hands behind his back.

Chen Fan turned and waved at Erza and Mira. "The Guild Master and I have business to attend to. You kids, go busy yourselves."

"What do you mean 'kids'?! You're clearly a year younger than us!" Mira and Erza shouted in unison. Everyone turned their heads, then quickly looked away while whispering, "Oh, a family quarrel. We'd better pretend we didn't hear."

"Hmm."

Seeing the demanding looks of Erza and Mira, Chen Fan gave in. "Alright, alright, if you want to listen, just listen. Anyway, it's just boring stuff." He walked toward Makarov.

Mira and Erza's faces showed a triumphant smile, and they followed. Lucy sat, confused, not daring to get close. Ten minutes later, Makarov looked up. "So, the Council didn't hold Fairy Tail responsible, and Phantom Lord was disbanded, right? So what about you?"

"Me? What could happen to me?"

"This time you..." Makarov hadn't finished speaking when Chen Fan cut him off. "We've known each other for years, I understand them. In short, you don't have to worry about the Council. Just leave everything to me." Chen Fan patted his chest.

Makarov looked at Chen Fan with relief. If it weren't for Chen Fan taking care of the Council all this time, who knows how many problems they would have had. The look in his eyes softened, and he thought, 'If only Laxus was half of what Chen Fan is.'

But Chen Fan shuddered. He covered his chest with both hands. "Please, Guild Master, don't look at me with those disgusting eyes. My sexual orientation is still normal..."

The more Chen Fan talked, the more '#' symbols appeared on Makarov's forehead, until he finally exploded. "Go to hell!!" Makarov's fist grew in size, and with a "Bang!" sound, Chen Fan held it with both hands, but was still hit to the floor. He lay there, as if passed out. No wonder Laxus was always angry; it seemed he really was Makarov's grandson.

"See, our Master is still the best. He was just suddenly ill that day," a guild member said. The member next to him nodded in agreement.

Hearing that, Chen Fan felt more at ease. The Guild Master was a symbol of invincible strength. As long as the Master didn't fall, the guild would never fall.

However, Makarov wasn't done with him. He yelled loudly at Chen Fan, "Your mindset is still not mature, Chen Fan! From now on, you will join Erza's team until you are truly worthy of inheriting the Guild Master position!"

"What?!"

"What?!"

"What?!"

"Chen Fan is on Erza's team too?"

"Terrifying."

"Are they going to destroy other guilds?" Everyone was shocked. They already knew how strong Chen Fan was from yesterday's incident.

"No... my money..." Chen Fan muttered, only worried about his income.

That evening, Makarov sat in the guild's ruins, staring at the moon. "The guild is ready to be renovated, and it's time to hand it over to the next generation. Chen Fan hasn't been out much all this time, so his mentality isn't mature yet. Laxus is still at odds with Chen Fan, that's a big psychological problem. Mystogan and Chen Fan get along well, but Mystogan has a hard time communicating with others. Erza? Her emotions are still a big problem." Makarov stroked his chin.

Suddenly, Mira's voice was heard. "Guild Master! So you were here." Makarov turned and saw Mira holding a stack of papers. "It seems they've caused trouble again," Mira said.

"Hmm?"

"Erza and the others went on a mission, and they ended up destroying half the city," Mira said, handing the documents to Makarov.

"Ah..." Makarov's face turned ashen.

Suddenly, a wolf howl was heard. "It's true, it's better for Chen Fan to be the Guild Master!" The sound startled the sleeping families, making them turn on their lights and yell, "Who is that?! Who is yelling in the middle of the night?! Is no one going to take care of it?!" They then slammed their windows shut with a 'Bang!' sound.

Location: A castle that is now in ruins. Time: One week after the team was formed.

"Bang!" Gray punched someone to the ground, then stepped on their face. "If you're weak, don't be a thief!" A group of people were already lying on the ground.

"Don't think that after you do this to us, you can just leave!"

"Sir Danpeng won't stand by!"

"That guy has been beaten," Happy said from the side.

"It's all done here too," said Erza who suddenly appeared from the stairs behind them.

"Great, Erza!" Lucy turned and gave a thumbs up.

Suddenly, Erza saw Chen Fan just standing there leisurely. She immediately got angry. "What are you doing here?! We're working, working! Do you understand?! Why aren't you moving at all?!"

Chen Fan lowered his head, his left hand supporting his right elbow, and his right middle finger pushing up his glasses. "I am a civilized person. I hate fighting the most. A gentleman uses words, not fists," he said, walking out.

A small thug on the floor saw an opportunity. He jumped up, charging toward Chen Fan. His punch almost hit the back of Chen Fan's head.

"Swoosh!" Chen Fan shifted his body to the side, dodging the punch without turning his head. "Bang!" His right elbow hit the person's stomach. The thug screamed, "Ah!", his mouth wide open and his eyes bulging.

He turned his head with great difficulty, saying to Chen Fan, "Didn't you say... you hate fighting the most?" Hearing that, Natsu, Gray, and Erza covered their heads in resignation, thinking, 'This poor kid is beyond help. How can you ever trust Chen Fan's words?'

"I did say I hate fighting, but I didn't say I can't fight. I'm going to beat you up... Oh..." Chen Fan twisted his elbow, swinging his fist clockwise. "Bang..." His punch hit the person's face, who then fainted elegantly.

"Alright, the mission is complete. Let's go," Chen Fan said, walking out first. Outside, he took a deep breath, stretching his body. "Hmm, work is tiring."

"Hey, you didn't do anything, did you? Why do you act like you did everything?" Lucy complained.

"We finished faster than expected," Erza said, who was already used to Chen Fan, not paying attention to his claims.
