Chapter 1 - First day

There are 8 billion people on the earth, and every one of them experiences today differently.

For some, today they started their life.

For some, they found their love.

For some, they started their career.

For some, today is the day they lost their hope.

For some, it's their last day.

For me,

this is my last day.

An hour ago, the doctor told me I am going to die today, as I can hear my mother crying outside as she shouted at the doctor to do something about me.

I want to tell my mom not to yell and just stay by my side, as I can feel my life slipping away from me.

But I can't even open my mouth to make any sound, as tears started to pour from my eyes.

My father and brother are on their way to the hospital, so I don't have to worry about my mother, as they can take care of her.

As I look at her tear-stricken face coming towards me and holding my hands, I want to say many things to her, but only I know how many times I try to say anything to her, yet I can't with this frail body.

Suddenly, the beep sound on the monitor started to increase in pace, as my mother's eyes widened and she cried loudly while doctors and nurses ran towards me.

"Beep, beep, beeeeeep."

Hearing this sound of my crying mother and the beeping of the monitor, a single drop of tear streamed through my cheek as my consciousness blurred and darkness covered my view.

As this is my last day.

.....

George opened his eyes as a glaring light lit above him. He couldn't fully open his eyes because of the stinging pain the light brought to them.

"Didn't I die? Where am I right now?"

"Beep… Beep… Beep…"

The sound of a monitor could be heard from the side.

George looked around for an answer, but his head stayed in place like someone had tied it to the bed.

Panic settled in George's eyes as they wandered around the space. He tried to move his hand to feel what was stopping his head from moving, but he realized his hands were also tied with something. His hands, legs, and head were all tied to the bed tightly, even his mouth was covered and restrained.

So many scenarios passed through George's head in that moment.

"Am I on an operation table? Did I get to live? I don't feel any pain in my body. Did my illness get cured?"

Hope bloomed in George's eyes as he thought about it.

"Maybe I did have a chance."

"Tap… tap… tap… tap…"

Hearing the noise of footsteps from his right, George's pupils moved in that direction as he saw several people in white doctors' coats walking towards him.

George looked at their faces. In the bright light burning his eyes, he could only see the face of the doctor in front. It was not someone he knew, and behind him there were at least eight people—maybe a new doctor, or perhaps he was in a different hospital.

"Mmm… mm."

Trying to talk, only muffled sounds came from his mouth, as it was covered with some kind of belt.

Seeing this, the doctor in front of him didn't bat an eye. Instead, his gaze was fixed on the phone-like device in his hand.

A female voice was heard from behind the man at that moment, speaking in a language alien to George.

"This is subject 403. According to the data obtained from the traders, the subject has an ability called [Aeon's Eye], which allows him to see four seconds into the future."

Hearing this, the doctor in the front lifted his eyes from his device and looked at George as his eyebrow raised slightly.

"Oh… an ability related to time. Quite rare."

A small smile appeared on the man's face.

Hearing this, George's head started to digest the information he heard.

"What is this language? And how can I understand a language I'm hearing for the first time? And what the hell are these abilities they're talking about? And they're calling me subject 403… what the hell have I gotten myself involved in?"

"Mmm… mm."

With every ounce of strength in his body, George tried to make a sound, but the man in front of him just smiled and spoke to the woman in the group behind him.

"Start the extraction right now. Continue the process for at least 11 days. We can't take any risks, as this is a very rare ability, and there are so many people who want an ability related to time."

"Yes, sir."

"Then let's go and see the next one."

He said this and walked away through the door they had entered.

From start to finish, they didn't even acknowledge George's sounds. They just treated him like cattle being prepared for butchering.

George started to make a whole picture of the situation he was in, but the more he thought, the more confused he became.

What are the abilities they're talking about, and what are they extracting from me? Is it the so-called [Aeon's Eye]?

When he felt like he was going mad, a head-splitting headache struck. He clenched his teeth tightly to contain the pain, but one by one, somehow, fragments of information started to appear in his mind continuously.

As the pain lessened over time, the new information fully assimilated into him, and his confused mind started to make sense of the situation.

What's happening? Did I really transmigrate into another world? And this body's name… it's also George. George Helel. The son of a merchant—kidnapped and sold off like property. These memories are so fragmented, I can barely piece together the general picture. So… the original me is already dead, huh?

"Beep... beep... beep..."

The monitoring screen beeped throughout this time, but George was used to it. In his long stay in the hospital, he had learned to ignore it. But in this moment, the sound resounded in his head like a hammer.

Thinking about everything, George didn't feel any grief about his own death. But thinking about his family—and his mother's crying face at the last moment—started to weigh on his heart as tears fell from his eyes.

But suddenly, the surroundings lit up and the light above him dimmed as a robotic voice resounded in the room.

"SUBJECT NO. 403"

"EXTRACTION STARTING"

"ABILITY [AEON'S EYE]"

"STARTING IN 3..."

Hearing the voice, George's heart started to beat faster as panic began to eat him alive. He didn't know what this extraction meant.

"2..."

In his memories, there was no information about this so-called extraction.

"1.."

Whatever is going to happen, the only thing he knows is that it is not a good thing.

"0.."

First there is no changes but a slight discomfort but suddenly it changed as his heart started to heat up a little then slowly it increased as second by second

Suddenly like his heart is on fire, a burning pain started to seep into his heart like lava being poured over it.

"MM...mmM....MmmmmMMMMMMM"

Even when the pain started eating his heart, unable to scream because of the strap that tied his mouth, George started to convulse on the bed.

"MmMMMMmmmmmm...

As this pain started to eat him alive for the next 30 minutes,

Then suddenly the pain that haunted him vanished completely, like someone loosening their grip from his bleeding heart.

George's bloodshot eyes scanned his room for some help from anywhere.

But hearing the robotic voice again, the little hope in his heart started to strip away from him.

"Extraction paused."

"Time taken: 30 minutes."

According to the voice, this is only the start of George's hell.

George's bleeding teeth, the busted veins, and his pale face said everything about his agony, but it didn't stop as the next announcement started.

"Time remaining: 10 days 23 hours 30 minutes."

As the voice stopped, the pain started to rush again inside his heart.

The start of a journey he did not expect.

This is George's first day in the new world.
