BlurbA night of loss that still echoes, a boy haunted by absence, and a girl who unknowingly lights up his world. Section C's lunch turns into chaos, laughter, and cream cakes, but beneath the smiles, hearts stir in ways no one expected.
THE SCENE – REY
Note: The following scene includes emotionally heavy content, including mentions of blood and loss. Please read with care.
Blood spread across the floor like spilled ink.
My mother's lifeless body lay still, drenched in red.
My father had vanished — no warning, no goodbye.
Aarav and Anika broke down, clinging to her, screaming through sobs.
"Maa, wake up! Please maa, open your eyes!"
"Bhaiya, tell maa to wake up... please..."
I pulled my siblings into the room, away from that cruel scene.
Then I came back.
REY'S POV
The tears burned.
But I didn't wipe them.
I let them fall — mix with the blood beneath me.
I pressed my forehead against hers.
Everything inside me screamed.
But not a sound escaped.
Only silence.
Only her stillness.
And the unbearable truth.
She was gone.
REY IN CLASS
REY POV
Years had passed since that night... but the silence his mother left behind still screamed the loudest in his heart. Even now, seated in a noisy classroom, Rey felt the weight of her absence more than ever. The memory remains like a shadow I can't shake off.
She was my anchor.
My strength.
And now, her absence echoes in everything.
RYU'S POV
What happened to the Devil of our class?
Rey used to be the boy who never bent.
His sharp eyes. His sharper words.
Unshaken. Untouchable. Unbothered.
He walked like pain couldn't reach him.
Like nothing could scratch the surface.
But now?
Now, he looked like a calm storm — not because the chaos was over, but because it had swallowed him whole.
His silence used to feel powerful.
Now it just felt... empty.
He rarely spoke. And when he did, his voice sounded like it came from another world.
Far away. Faded. Detached.
He was Rey...
But not the Rey I knew.
This version of him looked haunted.
And it broke something in me too.
LUNCH BREAK – CLASSROOM TO CAFETERIA
Ryu: Rey, aren't you eating lunch?
Rey: Huh? I... yeah, I'm coming.
Ryu: You brought home lunch today, right?
Rey: Yeah.
IN THE CAFETERIA
[Maya, Kabir, Avi, and Ravi were already waiting.]
All: You're late!
Ryu: I know, but guess what — I brought cheese sandwiches for everyone!
Avi & Kabir (grabbing the box): Yum! I'm starving!
Ryu (shouting): Hey! That's for everyone, not just you two!
Maya: I brought pasta.
Ravi: Spring rolls here.
It looked like a mini restaurant — vibrant, noisy, full of delicious smells and colours.
Ryu (to Rey): Sit down, Devil.
Rey (blinking): Hmm?
Ryu (smiling): Sit. Here.
He snapped out of whatever daze he was in and sat between Ravi and Ryu.
Section C turned into a food carnival — laughter, teasing, passing tiffins like currency.
Ryu: Rey! Rey!
Rey: What, Miss sensitive !
Ryu (irritated): Huh? That's worse "Miss Sensitive"!
Maya (grinning): Ooooh burn!
[The Section E boys howled with laughter from the next table.]
Ryu glared and shoved a sandwich at Rey.
He took a bite, glanced at her — and for a second, his eyes softened.
For a moment, she reminded him of his mother.
Ryu: How's the sandwich?
Rey (deadpan): Tastes like regret.
Ryu (growling): Rey!!
Maya (laughing): You walked into that one, Ryu.
Ryu (softening): Fine. This is your lunchbox for Aarav and Anika. Give it to them later, okay?
Rey (handing her his box): Here. Share mine.
She opened it... cream cakes.
Ryu (screaming): OH MY GOD—GUYS LOOK—CREAM CAKES!
Kabir & Avi (in unison): ATTACK!
The two snatched the box and ran.
Ryu and Maya bolted after them like missiles.
Ravi (watching them, low voice): Why do I feel... jealous?
He glanced at Ryu's laugh.
It was loud, messy, alive.
And it stirred something inside him.
REY'S POV (watching them run):
Something in her makes the world feel less heavy.
Even if just for a moment.
I don't deserve that feeling.
But here she is.
