Killian's kiss brought me back. It didn't give me comfort, but a reminder that I fell in love with someone I wasn't supposed to.
I forced a smile, pushing him away, "I'm better now."
I made up a lie on the spot, "I just remembered something, sorry for scaring you."
Killian nodded, "It's fine."
His eyes sharpened like ice, "But don't think you can fool me."
"What's going on? Do you know this place?"
I knew pretending otherwise would only make me suspicious. "Well, a long time ago, I was kidnapped by demons, so I've been here before, but the righteous sect saved me."
The words spilled out of my mouth.
He can never know the truth.
"Really, how come I never heard the story before?"
I arched my brow, "Because you've been on missions for a long time, so it makes sense you don't know."
He nodded, but his brow furrowed in suspicion.
