Chapter 1 - GOLDEN CAGE

Chapter One

"I will keep this one."

Those words echoed like thunder in my ears.

I didn't know what he meant by that, but I knew he was up to no good.

Suddenly, I started feeling dizzy and lightheaded.

I could barely hear a word before everything went black.

---

"Grandma… Grandma…"

I called out weakly as I squinted my eyes. My head felt so heavy, and my bones ached with weakness.

All I wanted in that moment was a cup of Grandma's cinnamon tea—her special remedy.

But strangely, I couldn't hear a sound from her.

"Oh my goodness… where the fuck am I?"

It dawned on me—I wasn't home.

I tried to get up, but I couldn't.

To make things worse, I couldn't remember a thing.

The more I tried to remember, the worse my headache got, so I gave up.

I relaxed back onto the bed and looked around the room.

It screamed nothing but luxury—with a coffee-brown interior and a really comfy bed, nothing like mine at home, which was made of wood and barely comfortable.

The scent of the room was heavenly—like a strange but pleasant mix of hibiscus flowers and some hot spice, if that made any sense.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard the sound of keys jingling behind the door.

In reflex, I quickly shut my eyes.

Then came a masculine voice.

It sounded like he was on the phone.

"Boss, she's still unconscious."

I didn't hear what the other person said in response, but moments later, I heard the door close and lock again.

I slowly opened my eyes to confirm he was gone—and he was.

I heaved a sigh of relief and tried one more time to remember how I ended up here… but again, nothing.

I didn't want to risk getting my head pounded again.

So I lay still, staring at the ceiling, trapped in a luxurious room that now felt like a golden cage.

I could not help but fall back asleep
